It's slowly coming back. New owner is doing a great job.

This is my hometown mall when I was growing up. To answer your question, at the 9:00 mark. It was a space for a 5th anchor that never happened. They were ready to build it, never got an agreement from anyone to go there, hence never broke ground and just kept it a wall. And also, rare for a mall, up to current, the anchors of this mall never changed. Always were Boscov's, Penney's, Bon Ton and Sears.

Do you remember what that fifth anchor was supposed to be? Could it have been Macy's? Every time I've been to the Galleria, I've always been curious about that walkway to nowhere.
@chadburkhart2643 ай бұрын
@danielfoster3642 the walkway to nowhere. I love it!!! From what I was told, from what I heard, was supposed to be a Kaufmann's, which we know would have later been Macy's. That's what I had always heard/known. I could be wrong. If it was the case though, it would be abandoned too.... I never could see a Macy's lasting in Johnstown tbh.

@@chadburkhart264 Well, considering Macy's is still going strong in Altoona, it probably could work in Johnstown, as well. Considering how many people say the Logan Valley Mall is dying, at least they never had The Bon Ton to deal with.

Zamias Corporation destroys everything they touch. They owned the Warren Mall up by Erie for many years, until it was mismanaged to the point that what was once a fully-occupied mall consisted of a Big Lots, Kmart, an eye doctor, a pizza place, a bank, and about 45 to 50 empty stores. Later most of it was torn down, and it is basically now just a strip mall. I'm glad the Galleria got sold to someone who might actually do something with it. Because Zamias obviously couldn't make it go of it.

All it took was a new owner. Zamias Corporation destroys everything they touch. Them selling the mall to someone else was probably the best thing for it.
@danielfoster36423 ай бұрын
@@mayavenuemisfit814 I agree. While I don't think Zamias is as bad as Moonbeam, let's be honest. If the Johnstown Galleria was left in Zamias's hands, the Galleria more than likely would have shut down last year.

Whatever you do, don't let that Kohan guy get ahold of this mall.

@@jenniferburchill3658 I'm not aware of that person or company. Are they somehow worse than Moonbeam and Zamias?

@@danielfoster3642 Kohan is known as the destroyer of malls. He runs them into the ground.
