I wonder if a squatter has ever been in a building with Dan, and wasnt aware of him being there. So they heard Dan, and thought he was a ghost. Then Dan heard the squatter, and thought they were a ghost. Then both leave freaked out.

I am from Harper's Ferry and my first job at 16 was at this hotel in housekeeping and it was indeed creepy. After everyone had checked out you would hear walking above you and doors closing in the area we called "heaven", they were the deluxe rooms the had the best views of the river. I never cleaned them because I was to freaked out to do it alone. I always felt as if someone was watching me or was over my shoulder. I still definitely loved this place and wish it were still open. I was absolutely sad when I heard that it wouldn't be opening it's doors anymore and even more sad when I thought they were going to rebuild this place from the original, beautiful place that it already was. It just really needed someone who was going to take care of it and not let it fall apart around us all. I miss the atmosphere, food and people you would meet here. It was absolutely stunning when it was around.

Nothing is going to happen. Remote places like this, though they seem scary, are seldom occupied by homeless people. Having been one, people forget that the homeless depend on being connected to supply chains, and in remote areas like this, one would starve if you tried to live out on your own. Unless you were a survivalist type and in that case you wouldn’t need to live in an asbestos infested old building like this.

Dan, I've been watching videos of this nature for about six months and can't believe I just now tripped over your channel. You have the best film overall of everything I've seen thus far. You are a great camera man to begin with and your editing style is superb. I also like the way you don't chat through the entire vid! For the first time I felt like I was actually walking through this hotel and not just viewing someone else's experience. Right after the piano shot there was a small room with a single bed in it. So sad to see this place closed. Stayed here as a kid in the 80s. No town scared me as much as this one. When night fell the whole town was covered in large spiders, every window of every business, every lamppost, everywhere. Never saw anything like that before. We stayed in the hotel and it was beautiful, really creepy but alot of fun. There was a old mirror in our room that seemed to possess my father, he spent all his time looking in it, and thought it made him look like a native American. He hated to leave the mirror, he's not a vane person either. Other weird things happened during the stay but I don't go into it online. When it was an active hotel I asked the staff about was there any paranormal activity there. Seems like a very active area. Thanks for the look inside.

In a building like this, you should expect lots of weird noises, the place is near collapse and unstable. The things you really need to worry about are real people, wild animals, black mold, rotten floors and maybe the law. not ghosts, those exist only in your imagination. The editing itself is scary and done well :)
@lammarpeeter90419 жыл бұрын
benny s If it is his imagination how did he get it on video ? Things in the mind are not shared. In other words if someone is having a hallucination the video camera should show and hear nothing that the person is seeing or hearing.I agree sir that mold rotten floors and criminals are real threats,but whats in this video is not in my imagination to many things happen that can not be explain.
@bennysh9 жыл бұрын
lammar peeter I agree, but that's not what I meant. There are noises, yes, but they can be easily explained by natural causes, like squeaking items, structure movement, heat/cold expansion etc.. When in stress, our imagination can take completely natural elements and turn these to ghosts. The scary atmosphere in the video, is the result of excellent editing, not ghosts :) anyway, as long as we enjoy these videos, who cares if its real ghosts or just squeaking things? ;)

well I worked third shift at the hilltop house hotel in harpers ferry in the year 2000/2001 i was a audit clerk and a night desk clerk. there was several different times that crazy things happened in the hotel. I would get phone calls from the rooms that were not occupied, I would go up to the rooms that were unoccupied by guest and there would be no signs of anyone in the room and the room would look as if it was unoccupied ready for guest check in, so number one eerie phone calls to front desk from unoccupied rooms, second after the guest would check out in the morning we would have to do a walk through to see if the guests left anything and the rooms were ready to be cleaned by house keeeping on one occasion I checked one of the suite rooms and as soon as I walked in the room the door shut behind me thinking it was just the wind or a old hotel I paid it no mind to turn around to see the rocking chair in the room rocking back and forth and when what ever was in the room noticed I seen the chair moving it stopped as soon as I turned to leave the room the chair started rocking again, also different times guests would check in and about eleven at night on different occasions they would check out saying they couldn't stay there because of feelings that something was at the end of the bed watching them or there children would wake up out of a dead sleep screaming and crying, several times guests would check in and reguest to move to different rooms in the newer part of the hotel because the main part of the hotel was too eerie to stay in, I also several times heard music coming from the dinning room where the paino was as if it played by itself. and it was a old style piano so there was no way any music was coming from it unless someone was actually sitting there playing it. these are just a few encounters I had at the hill top house, it was actually a very beautiful hotel at one time and it was actually a great place to stay, with many years of changing hands and just being left to fall apart that is why the condition of the hotel is the shape its in now. when it was sold in 2009 by mr Stanhagen, to the new owners they were under aggreement the hotel would be tore down and rebuilt and to this day six years a

the hotel still remains rundown and left to continue to fall apart I wish they would rebuild because its a great location for a hotel and I know from personal experience its very calming and relaxing being there in the hilltop, even with the couple ghosts that continue roaming the halls, its still a beautiful place and I would still stay there if it was still open

Sarah Hartman Thanks for sharing your story. I normally don't ask ppl to share their experiences because some already give a little insight as to what they are or might be. But in this case being that it seemed like a place as big as this one would be occupied by other beings I just had to ask. Almost every story I've read from other both in and out of comments shares the same, if not similar type of experiences. I don't know if you are a Believer but in my case, as a brother once said, if the Djinn try to intimidate you by moving around objects or throwing them, generally, throwing them back to them from where they were thrown stops this activity. In other words never show them that you fear or intimidate them. In your case it seems like you did the right thing by ignoring them. Thanks again and Peace be with You.

I was a child when my parents and I went there for a daytrip and had lunch in the huge elegant dining room with a beautiful view and big windows. We went there a lot. It was incredible. It was precariously perched on the top of a cliff and we had to park lower on the street and walk up a steep hill to get up to the hotel and it was always crowded on weekends.

The music at the beginning and end is a nice touch, and helps to create a flavor of the era which the hotel thrived. However, the 'music' presented after the 'help' and continuous thereafter seemed a cheap, manipulative way to influence your audience's emotion. You don't NEED that: as your viewers, due to your fine camera work, we are along for the ride and our imaginations are already drawn to the moment. The music snaps us out of it, and instead of being part OF it, we are just watching.
