When I was a kid in the 90s my grandmother lived down the street from the truck-stop on what was Pumphrey's Farm. He was her landlord and she rented a cottage on his property. It was the CUTEST little cottage! She had it made up like a doll house in there. Mr. Pumphrey died from cancer and his widow and children did not want to take over the farm and sold the land to a housing developer. So grandma had to move. Broke her heart! The land now is completely unrecognizable with McMansions but was once fertile and quiet farmland. We miss it so!
@DanBellFilmIt3 ай бұрын
When i was little my aunt lived right behind pumphrey’s in brightwood. we used to walk back and hang out with the horses. my cousin also fished pumphrey’s pond which is now located in shipley’s choice. pumphrey’s had a ton of land back there. at least 100 acres. i wish i could’ve seen the cottage. i spent so much time in those woods as a kid and teenager. it just went on forever and ever. now it’s ugly houses and roads. what a shame.

That's funny, I was thinking about that when he was riding through there, lol. I really liked the "Doll Apts" with that sort of mosaic brick pattern. One thing I didn't like was the discoloration of the brick under the AC units. They really should've considered either a normal central air system or at least a mini-split heat pump system where no air handler is used, instead the condensing element still sits outside but a separate wall-mounted blower/evaporator is used inside.

I don't think they ever have a room vacant. 11:35 It is a functioning self carwash, but what keeps that place open, I'll honestly never know. Its so run down looking. Plus, you can't really see it from the road, it's too "tucked away"/hidden. 12:19 I'm always afriad of driving into that parkint lot because I feel like I'll burst into tears, it really is a depressing looking motel. (12:44 that white van has been their for quite along time and has not moved at all!) 13:40 The upkeep of this place is phenomenal.
