This TurboGrafx conversion of the classic PC98 horror adventure is now completely playable in English! Woohoo!

Would that include the second game, as well? Or just the first? I saw it on a website and it said only the first game had been translated.

I really like how they added voice acting throughout some of the scenes in this version! It’s feels immersive and it’s doubly creepy to hear the zombies talk.

Love all of the fan translations of PC Engine CD titles we've been getting in recent years; This game, Sailor Moon, Private EyeDol, Galaxy Fraulein Yuna 1 & 2, etc. This system is full of hidden gems... at least in *_my_* opinion.
@mariusamber3237 Жыл бұрын
It's unfortunate that PCE/CD is so overlooked in the West, but it just stood no chance against the juggernauts such as Nintendo and Sega back then, or even the actual PC games. It was a valiant attempt, but in hindsight mostly just moderately successful in Japan. Would be cool to see the Tengai Makyo games translated at some point, taking into the account their popularity over there (and the first game being the first CD JRPG).
@Dorian_Scott Жыл бұрын
@@mariusamber3237 For me personally, I think that "Ginga Fukei Densetsu Sapphire" deserves a fan translation. Despite it being one of the rarest and most expensive PC Engine CD games out there *_and_* the fact that it got ported to all versions of the PC Engine Mini... There's still no way to play it in English. Other than _that_ game... maybe the first two Valis games?

Hahah, yeah, the devs sure love horror as a genre... The vast majority of these kinds of adventure games/VNs weren't released in the West; PCE/CD itself had hundreds of games only released in Japan. Also, this port is from 1999... that's almost the end of PS1's lifespan, hahah.

Not really, this is an exception. PCE was effectively dead by 1996 more or less. There 'were' a couple games released later, but not many by comparison.

Solid game with good pacing. Story was predictable after a while due to lack of characters (not the part at the end) but still impressive for the time period of 90s. Some parts showed the horror and fear aspect well and set the tone of the game.

Spoilers for sequel: (not as good as the original and I don’t have all the facts for it but) The research director already took the drug and put Gool into an android body to bring back his brother Steve, who is technically the only desceased character to be brought back to life without becoming a zombie. He was actually a pretty nice guy who really went batshit insane and nearly killed the director. The only organic part of his body left is his brain, which was placed into a new, more deadlier model of android by the director and used to kill off the MC as they knew about the drug. Gool manages to become good again after seeing his brother die in the finale and cripples the director before his brain explodes via a contingency by the scientist. That story ends with the BBEG getting a syringe worth of that flesh eating chemical Kain died from right into the eye as not even an immortal can come back from having all their vital organs being destroyed. There is yet to be an English translation of that story and my synopsis might be wrong but that’s the gist of Dead of the Brain 2

I'm ten months late but I remember when you did the original playthrough basically four years ago when KZbin recommended me it, thus it brings me to ask: Is it possible that we will see the second game played on this channel? To date, I personally cannot find and haven't found anyone on the site that has done it and I would love to finally see the sequel. Unless it is far too explicit, lacking an English translation or anything of the sort to put on this platform. I would very much love to finally see the sequel that has been evading me for years.
