i never completed the game until last year, and gosh it was so satisfactory, the story, gameplay, everything about it was perfect. i beat the game with my cousins and got your same ending. Black Ops 2 was the first call of duty i ever played, and one of the best.

The simplest anwser to why Mason was gone for 30 years is proabably to lay low and make sure Menendez would't come for David or Woods. Now this was the first COD with multiple endings so in my opinion it's very impressing howmany endings there and what causes them so you should definitly them out. Now in the mission Odysseus where Salazar betrays you there are so many ways that the cutscene can change depending on who is alive and dead so maybe you could check that out too. Anyways this was an an amzing series can't wait for the next one.

Finally the end of the second best campaign in the series. The canon ending according to bo3, bo4 and Treyarch is David kills Menendez and that makes the world reorganise with China and the Us becoming allies vs Russia and the EU and Mason is alive. Cold war features woods and Mason as supporting characters since their story has ended. However, it is rumoured that the next Treyarch game coming this year will explore Mason's lost years.

I literally finished the playthrough yesterday at my uni's console! It was quite the adventure playing this for the first time on my own and watching someone else's! Different choices and gameplay styles got myself a different ending (Harper died and Menedez arrested for good). Well done Jonesy! Looking forward to your next gameplay

The last CoD game you really need to worry about is Black Ops: Cold War which is a midquel set in-between Black Ops 1 & 2. Outside of the Modern Warfare reboot trilogy, all remaining CoD games are pretty much 1 and done games. So those can be done whenever you want to. Looking forward to whatever you play next 😁. P.S. the Storm PSR weapon you were given in the first mission of this video had an alternate firing mode where you could hold the shot and charge it up to release a more powerful shot. Useful for taking out those CLAW tanks and enemies hiding behind deep cover. Would've helped you progress faster.

What a fantastic series, well done Jonesy! I can definitely see in that under the freeway section how much more confident and happy you are with the FPS format and you were taking it all in your stride. Who knows countless hours of gaming could yield such tangible results? 😂 I don't know if you spotted in the credits, but the story for this one was co-written by David S. Goyer, who wrote The Dark Knight Trilogy and a load of great (and a few not-so-great) things, so that was fun to see. Yes, Menendez in your playthrough wins at this point whether you spare him or not. What I like about this timeline, even though it's sadder since the villain wins, is that we see Menendez had everything planned out: If David kills him, he becomes a symbol and overturns society, and if he spares him, he still destroys it with the virus and kills the direct responsible for Josefina's death before taking his own life. In both cases, he had won from the beginning, and in both cases, he never planned to come out alive. He was entirely devoted to his cause, a cause we can sympathize with when seeing what he had experienced ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaHRdJ-pl7SLZposi=F1zqtZFLsYQBEbvE&t=50) which made him a very good antagonist. You got the normal ending, bad ending would’ve been if you let menendez live and chloe dead, mason dead, strike force failed I don’t blame you for not liking strike force, it would’ve been better if those missions were rts type And i think woods shot mason on the kidney or something, anyways mason was badly injured that night (or dead if you’ve taken the headshot) And i find kinda disappointing that you didn’t use that sniper rifle in cordis die to its full potential it’s the best sniper imo, if you held RT long enough it’s projectiles would go through several walls

Now that I don't have to worry about spoiling the choices you need to do to get the best ending, here's a breakdown of what you could've done to get the best ending: First things first, you must do all 4(or 5, depending if you saved Karma or not) strike force missions Old Wounds: you must not kill Kravchenko and resist the numbers Time and Fate: you need to get the CIA memo from the second coke room Fallen Angel: you have to record all conversation between Menendez and ISI leader (you can see in the top left corner if you recorded a critical mission info, there's 3 of them. about harpes's face burning or not at the end, it does not affect the ending) Karma: you have to catch up to DeFalco and kill him (if you don't, no problem. do the WSecond Chance strike force mission after this mission) Suffer with Me: shoot Mason in the leg Achilles Veil: kill Harper Odysseus: shoot Briggs in the leg (this is where some of your prevoius choices come back, because if Karma is saved and Farid survived beforehand, then Farid will sacrifice himself to save Karma, and if you did all strike force missions successfully, then SDC will send drones to save the Obama, thus Karma will survive) Judgement Day: Capture Menendez

Hi Jonesy! Glad to see the finale. And yeah, you got the sort of mixed good/bad ending. And I'll tell you this. To achieve the good ending, you actually had to sacrifice Harper in "Achilles Veil", then in the next mission, Karma would be alive, then you actually have to let Menendez live in the end. And you would keep Alex Mason alive. That's the best ending and oh man, my heart was rip when you didn't sacrifice Harper. But it's all right. ☺

So just to explain the timeline, before 2019 all the stories were completely separate, nothing except little Easter eggs connected the series, but Modern Warfare 2019, MWII, vanguard....ew .. we don't like vanguard. And MWIII....ew....we don't like MWIII. ARE PART OF THE BLACK OPS STORY. Not spoiling anything else but I thought you'd appreciate this message if you continue on with the games post 2019. So WAW, BO, BO2, BO3 (it's a really fun campaign, but it's confusing the way it's told, no other spoilers), BO4 (BO4 does not have a story mode but it does have a story, realistically all you need to know is that it happens before BO3 if you're curious to know the story you will have to just look up a KZbin video about it.) MW19, Cold War, Vanguard (no one will be mad if you skip vanguard....not the best campaign), MWII, and MWIII (... I can't bring myself to "convince someone to buy this game, Activision doesn't deserve ANYONE'S money for this game. If you want to play it of your own will you've been warned.) ANYWAY, as of now those are the closest thing we have to a Canon timeline. That string of games have been proven to be a part of the same universe.
