Thanks for the stop block idea using clamps to fix them to the fence. My fence rotates around an upright bolt at one end while a similar clamp keeps it rock solid at the other end; the clamp side of the table is curved so the fence end is always at the same distance from the edge of the table for the clamp to get a solid grip. But I never thought of using those clamps to fix stop blocks, meanwhile thinking up all sorts of complex ways of adding stop blocks to the fence... which I now don't need to do 👍 KISS: "Keep It Simple, Stupid."

Thank you for watching and commenting! I often over-think the most trivial aspect of the build and end up coming up with a simple stop-gap solution until I think of something better without realizing that the stop-gap solution is probably the easiest one. 🤣

@@BassadorWoodworking I was so impressed with your method I grabbed a chunky stall clip and used it to fix a block to the fence to test it out. Oh boy, it's solid as a rock! Nice one 👍

Interesting. I, too, considered a drill press lift, but my thought was to use a weighted lever.

Very cool! I used to have a shopsmith that I only used as a drill press, so I wall mounted it and attached some counter-weights to the head to make it easier to move up and down, I considered something similar for the Craftsman table but I thought it would quickly become unwieldy.
