While I've never actually played it for lack of a good PC, watching the let's plays back then was some of the best experiences I've ever had. From what I've seen, Dead Space deserved a remake. It aged well, but it's still old graphics. The addition of Isaac Clarke's voice from DS2 also gives a whole new facet of the game by integrating extra dialog lines when his engineering expertise makes sense, and he feels way more competent (they also made the asteroid shooting sequence make more sense for an engineer). The devs learned their lesson with zero G movement and used the propulsors instead of having the player jump from one magnetic wall to another in a disorienting way. IMO, the opening necromorph scene and the death of Chen is so much better. The necromorph movements make it sneak inside the player's field of vision instead of showing it right away, it is much more impactful. As for the "cut off the limbs" tutorial, I can't remember it quite well, but I think they were more reasonable in the repetition. As for changes I liked less: some of the necromorphs' cries have become more generic or too goofy (instead of distorted human voices), and the wheezers have something not as good about them (maybe because we plant a syringe into their neck instead of shooting them to put them off their coughing misery?).

I remember when the Remake got announced and just got so excited, but I always thought to myself. Does it need one? I played it on day 1 and I immediately thought, this may be the greatest remake ever. Better than RE4 (doesn't mean it was a better game though, they're not really comparable) in terms of 1 to 1 recreation with new editions. I didn't like how RE4 scrapped segments of the game then repackaged them for the separate ways DLC. None the less, it was still amazing. But as an overall remake, Dead Space surpasses it. Shame we will never get a Dead Space 2 remake.

One of GOATs for damn sure! The OG was the first game I played that made me both recognize and respect audio design, it sincerely made me want to look into a career in audio because of how fucking great it was back in '08. It was soon ahead of its time in that depth. Also, the editing @ 12:57 leading into DS2 was terrific dude

It's still one of the most immersive horrors i've played. Just the audio alone was enough to fill me with dread. It's one of the greatest horror games, ever.

Im finally glad someone brought up the clear "the thing" influences for the monsters. Ive seen people bring up evet horizon as influnces for the game and story but ive always felt in terms of enemy design and the fact they are a hive mind it was always a moe aggressive version of the thing

One of the best space themed horror game no doubt! 2008 is still crazy for how good it looks and plays.

Aged like fine wine. It honestly blew me away how good it still looks. I'm looking forward to replaying the remake so I can compare the both

Dead Space 2 was seriously lacking in the boss department and that's a big reason why I prefer the original.
@Kazaonyt4 ай бұрын
I didn't consider that. Now that you mention, theres was barely any. There was more arena type segments than actual boss.

@@Kazaonyt the buildup to the Leviathan in the original was masterfully done, and that death scene if you allow the Hive Mind to eat Isaac disturbed me to my core when I first saw it.
@Kazaonyt4 ай бұрын
@@jonbourgoin182 The original was definitely horror focused. I was anxious about fighting the Leviathan because I was never too sure if i had enough ammo for it. I never got that feeling from Dead Space 2. But overall, I just love how badass he became and I was a massive fan on how cinematic it was. They both felt like completely different games

the reason the remake failed was because it was utterly pointless, the original is incredibly easy to obtain, you can run the pc version on a toaster, its on 3 generations of xbox and ps3s are so easy to jailbreak you dont even need to get a disc for that platform, it also changes so little there is no reason to ever play it over the cheaper more easily available version unless your curious, the only people who actually benefited form the remake were ps5 owners since it didnt have access to the original

Replaying the remake now and I'm definitely seeing this. It just feels like a graphics update, though funny enough. the original looks better in some places. For example, the opening. in the original it looks incredible. In the remake, its really blurry and its all this haze. I could barely make out the Ishimura. and even worse, the game is somehow less scary. I think the reason for this, is because of Issac. I love Gunnar, but the voice acting made the game a lot less scary. Issac sounds to calm in some areas. Oh yeah, yeah overall voice acting is shit. Gunnar is fantastic, he gets a slide. but Hammond and Kendra just sound like they were there for the paycheck. no emotion behind any of their lines. Hammond is the worst of the two. And that chick who breaks her foot in the beginning is just way too calm about it. like shes just reading the line with zero context. its bloody awful

@@Kazaonyt i find the remake is only good because the original dead space is good, standing on its own it doesnt have anything going for it, it doesnt offer anything that the original version cant match or exceed, even the zero g is just ds2s mechanics essentially backported into a game where they dont really work, im a defender of the ds1 zero g as i think the way they did it works well for the environment, being able to do literal flyby shootings on the ishimura now feels so so out of place, definitely agree with the voice acting, feels so dull and flat, like no one is really interested in whats going on, a dead space 4 would have made people way more interested, porting the trilogy to the ps4 and ps5 would have worked in getting people keen for that as well as help fund it, but thats just my 2 cents

What a game! Playing the remaster brought back so many memories. I had high hopes for Callisto protocol when it got announced but unfortunately it was no where near the level of dead space Another great video🤌🏻

that game was absolute trash. It had so much potential too. I can't believe they tried charging us for death animations... like what
