What do people expect you to walk on? Myself I love the sound of walking on gravel. My grandparents lived on a gravel road and we would all go walking on the road. I loved all those sculptures, so beautiful. Thank you Dan for taking us along on your travels. I would never get to see these if it was not for you. So thank you again. Safe travels.

7:20 I love it when you walk on gravel, a little bit of ASMR, I don't mind 😁 I actually turn up the volume😇 I find it very relaxing

The "last supper" sculpture is the one from the Campari family, the actual Campari drink inventors!

Fabulous video Franco Corelli was a world renowned Italian tenor who died in 2003 aged 82. I love the sound of people walking on gravel or a car driving up a gravel driveway. Some people need to grow up. Keep crunching on that gravel. I am intrigued at the thought of the costs of those sculptures, some of them are exquisite. They are in themselves works of art. Next time i drink a Campari I will think of that sculpture groupdfor sure, amazing.

Wow, most definitely Milan's upper class! So very beautiful. First time I have ever seen freestanding vaults (a.k.a. vending machines, lol) within a crypt. This place is stunning! Thank you for the tour Dan!

For the beauty of this one … and doing it while caffeine deprived. When you yawned I thought “he needs coffee” … appreciate your explanation because I was having the same thoughts ie “Italy = Espresso” … make my own triples throughout my days. Also PREFER gravel sound … it makes the experience feel bit more real hearing your steps, esp. being so far away here in the San Francisco Bay area … looking forward to next installment

This was one exceptional cemetery Dan. I was overwhelmed to say the least. Below ground was cleaner and less confusing than most and above ground was like an open air museum, the likes of which I have never seen before. Almost everyone had a massive tombstone with carved relief of some kind. Even with below ground crypts AND carved busts below they had huge masoleums above with even larger busts above. I am scared if this is the way of the world. I have no fear of being forgotten. Within two or three generations that will be the way of the world. Do these people actually think we will remember them more with a bigger masoleum or bust? Beautiful, yes. Memorialized, no. And we are still in Italy! It is crazy to me. God, could care less where you lay your body. He is looking at your soul not your masoleum. ♥️☘️

Wow. What a concentration of beautiful art! That woman with the fabric of her dress (?) spread in front of her.. amazing! Thank you for this and your gentle humour. Mirror on the grave can apparently signify the boundary between the realm of the living and the realm of the dead the deceased have crossed into or an invitation to reflect on our own mortality… apparently 😊

That lion at the end that the girl statue was riding looked like it was made of sandstone. Sandstone is easily damaged by rain as you can see because the features of the lion are almost gone.

I think the gravel complainers are not actually complaining about the gravel. Did you know that on closed captions, gravel comes out as applause. That might what is bugging them. Just a thought. I use my cc because some are hard to hear and the accent. Lol I'm of course American.

Mirrors were traditionally put on graves that held people that were thought to be"dangerous," ie prone to wander, whomever that may mean. They were believed to trap wandering souls in their resting place. Not really sure if this was one of those though.

Here’s a question for someone to answer- looking at all these ornate statues and monuments- did the families plan in advance and have these started or carved before death? Here in the States- many families buy their plot(s) and erect the headstone with names ( no dates) before hand. My parents did that…and it was rather unsettling to see- but I guess in the moment of their passing- it was one less stress for the family. Funeral practices around the world are so different!

Where are you supposed to walk? On the graves? If it’s got gravel walkways, that’s where you walk, plus it doesn’t sound bad anyway.
@tigcoinc25474 ай бұрын
People have spent a lot of money on those monuments.

As usual, good video, but… (at 8:38): “…and easy to say for a stupid Englishman” 🤔 Not quite, I’m afraid… you pronounced it incorrectly. It’s “NAW-billee”, not ‘no-BILLY’… i.e. the stress is on the first syllable, not the second, and the second and third syllables are pronounced “ee” as in ‘wee’, not as the ‘i’ in (eg) ‘sit’. Just helping out 🤷🏻♂️
