Plastic Man is indestructible, plus he's basically inspiration given form. You can't adapt to his fighting style because he just flows randomly from one form to the next as thoughts occur to him. Add on top of that he can expand his size and alter his density to an almost limitless degree. So, yeah, he's one of the most powerful beings on the planet. People don't realise how much of a big deal Plas actually is, mostly because he's also the comic relief.

Not Superman though. Superman doesn't need air, and there's absolutely nothing Plas can do to hurt him physically. Superman, on the other hand, while Plas would be a pain for him to deal with, has frost breath, like Rob mentioned, but also heat vision, enough of which could render Plas a mere puddle. Or he could throw him into the sun... There's always that... Guess Supes never does that because it'd be too easy...
@demitrialmeida6517 жыл бұрын
Well I know this is old and my understanding of DC is poor, plastic man theoretically could cover Superman's body and slowly drain him of energy and to prevent the frost breath he'd just go into superman's lungs and push out all the air. So without any sunlight (I'm assuming he needs direct contact with the rays) superman would eventually run out of steam and then it becomes a question of can plastic man reform his body enough times.

I agree. Cause ppl in the comments aren't being detailed. Cause if he's body is made of plastic doesn't necessarily make it indestructible.
@philliparnesen44936 жыл бұрын
I may be wrong, some of this is theory crafting. But a lot of what he is capable of is left intentionally vague. Not because he is a mary sue that will get random new powers, but because the implications of his powers are actually already terrifying. So rather than DEMONSTRATE why plastic man is OP and make him boring, they just hint at it, leave him a joker and leave it to your imagination. A very short explanation is his body violates all of the laws of physics but a more indepth one below. First of all lets go over his immunities. He has no functioning brain, it's inorganic, and made of plastic making him completely immune to telepathy and mind control effects, period. The plastic he is made of is chemically inert, he has no weaknesses(aside from cold), you can't expose him to some special chemical that hurts him like superman's kryptonite. He is not even alive in the technical sense, if you had some power that gave you mastery of living things you could not effect him. He does not age, nor need to eat, sleep, drink, or breathe. He has complete control of his body down to the molecular level, other entities cannot manipulate or alter his body. While his body can be broken into small pieces, the individual molecules he is composed of are indestructible. He can pull himself together from even planetary dispersal (but it takes a lot of time). Presumably, even if he was dispersed too far he has a regenerative factor too and would recover over time (meaning he can never be permanently stopped). He has complete control of his body, even when liquefied, so heat doesn't work. That's just his immunities, not things he is actually capable of. Literally, you are left with freezing and containing him, and that is a temporary solution since he is indestructible, regenerative, and immortal. Now, it's been implied in some comics he can add mass to his body. Increasing both his muscles size and his bodies density at will, allowing him to increase his strength. Meaning if he wants to he can fight like a bruiser, smash and bashing even on par with people like superman with a more durable body. He fought an even more powerful insane version of Martian Manhunter named Fernus to a standstill. In Dark Knights: Metal he became an entire army of monsters. He ENTERED the flash (yes it was disturbing) through his ears, mouth, nose and eyes, suffocating him (could have killed). Superman could go to frost breathe on him, turns out it was just a very thin shell, most of his body liquefied into the ground, wrapped around supermans face so he cant breathe, entered the small capillaries in his lungs, and blocked bloodflow to his brain.... Starting to get the idea?

Plastic Man is woefully underused in comics, TV, and Games, (probably bc he doesn't work without razor sharp/clever writing) so much so he isn't even in Injustice 2?!? "BAT = BUCKS! BAT = BUCKS! GD: Bu.. Mr.C: I SAID MORE BAT! "The only thing plastic is good for is buying awesome boats and cars with all of my millions of dollars I made off of the dried out husk of Batman and keeping my wife happy and off my back while I go to work to make said millions of dollars!!!" (maniacal laugh) GD: I... Mr.C: "Put in Alfred!" "He can throw silver trays at Bane or something." "Nailed it!" GD: (sigh...)

actually if plastic is heated up then frozen he would mast likely be dead if supper man heated him up with Lazer eyes then froze him he would be in pieces then separating them then he would be stuck .of the could make a lock that heats plastic melting him before he could unlock it. When plastic is melted, it can be molded into different shapes. This process is used in recycling to give new life to used plastic1. However, it’s important to note that not all plastics behave the same way when melted and then frozen. Some might retain their shape, while others might become brittle or change in texture1. Moreover, melting plastic can produce toxic fumes, which can be harmful if inhaled1. Therefore, it’s recommended to melt plastic in a well-ventilated area or with appropriate safety equipment1. As for freezing, it doesn’t typically have a significant effect on the plastic itself. However, if the plastic contains any residual moisture or certain types of additives, freezing could potentially cause some changes2. Remember, it’s always important to handle plastics responsibly to minimize environmental impact and potential health risks. If you’re considering melting and freezing plastic at home, please ensure you understand the safety implications and have the necessary equipment to do so safely

1:50 That shot of him standing the dictator on the ground is amazing. They all act as if those are two separate beings, yet ethically, they are exactly alike. The dictator ruled from the exact same axiom he was deposed from: "Might. Makes. Right."

I always get confused about who the comic relief of the group is 'cause in the animated stuff it seems Green Arrow, Hal Jordan, Flash, Nightwing, and Plastic Man all made out to be the comic relief depending on the story and how many of them are in the same story/scene at the time -_-

I like the detail that Plastic Man chose the Flash to be the one to impersonate, because with his shapesifting he has the most difficulty with changing the color of his body, so the Flash's red suit was perfect.

My question is has Batman ever been a villain in any of DC continuity (with the exception of the Crime Syndicate as Owlman)?

Minetic One could make the argument that because he doesnt make the effort to ensure that supervillains stay in prison, he is responsible for every kill they cause

Frank Miller's version kinda came off...wrong. If you continued to read the stuff revolving the fight, he does some questionable things, but then again, that entire universe is off so probably not.

This is my favorite issue of the entire run of the series. Plas' introspection throughout the whole thing is what really makes this work. That, and his attitude toward the members of the Regime. And let's not forget that Plastic Man took on the Martian Manhunter on his own, a MM without any restraints whatsoever, and he held his own. Even Superman once said that there were only a handful of people he'd be afraid to fight, and J'onn was at the top of the list, that MM was the most powerful being on Earth. And Plastic Man fought him to a standstill. That's why the Regime was so nervous when O'Brian showed up at their HQ.
