i was a former DoS contractor and retired miltary (army). cool. respect to his service. there is NO reason whatsoever that these "kill" shots claimed in a war zone should be on open sourse KZbin TV channel or show. NO reason. if he wants to "talk it out". go to the VA or any mental health couciler anywhere. i was mobile about 75% of the time in kabul and mazar for years and years. IF we talk about our missions: it is at a colleague home, VFW lodge with a SELECT persons. not saying what we had to do OR not do. i am not hear to put it on audio and video YT channel for a bunch of jelly beans, Tshrit and a coffee mug sales. remember eddie gallagher (Navy Seal) he went on 60 minutes TV show to "talk" and this "tel his story". 2 months later CID and FBI arrest him on tortured and murder charged-and caused him years and years of personal, financial and legal hell. so i guess few adults here realize their is "wisdom" in: keeping YOUR mouth shut and closed especially on video. He was authorized and engaged. taking another human life (even yes the "bad" guys) is not an open-sourse topic for a for profit TV show on KZbin.

I remember when I was shot down the second time and what the Cobra pilot told me. This was in Vietnam. He wanted me to push the trays for the minigun and grenade launcher out and put my wounded pilot in it. Before he could get back from refueling, the medical evacuation helicopter came to get us. There is a weight limit and we were above the weight and they demanded both of us to get on and they got us out. I owe them all thanks and respect for risking their lives to save us.

Talking about these experiences is cathartic and healing. We know from Holocaust survivors and veterans that, if they don't talk about the trauma, severe PTSD can emerge in older years.

That was something we briefed as a means to evacuate another downed crew. To simplify it, we have a procedure to do it. It’s not a pleasant experience but it beats the alternative. Wasn’t used much. We all had d rings on our ALSE vest for that reason. Hats off to those guys. They didn’t take the easy way out but made a very difficult decision that was the right decision. Balls of steel.

The Royal Marines casevacd a wounded Marine by SS trapping themselves to the wings of Apaches in Afghanistan. Two flew in with Marines strapped to the stub wings of both Apaches, found the casualty, Lance Corporal Matthew Ford, strapped him to the step of one and evacuated. There is video of them on the wings too.

I flew Army attack helicopters in combat and later civilian medevac. One of our emergency egress procedures was to have guys straddle our 2.75 inch rocket pods, snap their D link to the hard point of the pod and lay over our “wing”. Another was to open our 20mm bay door, lay on it, snap the D link to the ammo can and away we go. I flew Cobras…turned down the Apache. They might have had different egress procedures.

I understand your point of view, and agree with you to a degree. It's unprecedented to hear these dudes who were at the highest level off-load their war stories, seemingly for clicks and views. It's easy to feel jaded and even betrayed that some of these guys are making a choice to profit from their experiences with mugs and t-shirts and monetization of content. But here's where I find value, basically three categories: 1. Relatability: hearing how these guys transitioned to civilian life, the difficulties they had with identity, relationships, and self-worth were much like what I experienced, and it helps me from feeling alone/singular in what I went through. 2. Transparency: Our future fighting forces need to know as much information as they can before they swear an oath to serve. Competent, motivated, and dedicated individuals filling our ranks seems better to me than bringing in warm bodies off the street to fill a billet. I'd rather our military have a clue about everything that comes with serving, the risks, the potential for incompetent leadership, the politics, all of it. 3. I don't go to the VFW, I don't have direct contact with those whom I served. I'm a busy dad and professional. Listening to to podcasts like SRS, Mike Drop, and Urban Valor scratches that itch for me. We were go-getters who lived out on the leading edge with tons of unique experiences, and I'm able to exhume the bad, the good and the awesome that I had buried in my mind. Much respect to you Sir, hope you're good.

@@Beefry222 well phrased, comment. yes, there is "value" in hearing story's, service timelines. yes. with that being said look at the overwhelming topics (and i mean overwhelming): SEAL, sniper, CAG, ect. why? marketing. the 18-30yoa YT crowd, many couch potato's eat it up. sit click and "watch". and their 20yoa tactical fantasy comes true and Ryan, Team House, ect. make their money and sell their trinkets online. notice very rarely foreign units (SAS, GSG9) rarely are on any YT flapping their lips? code of conduct. MI6 (non-military) required permission from their HQ to reveal there were an agent after leaving/retiring. for the US guys "talk", "talk, talk" and "there is i was in nation XYZ doing this and that". communicate the best for you. if you can, find a moment to go to the VFW or VA for a drink or beer. usually smokey bar, vietnam guys with heir hats. and no usually no YoutTube "talk allot" video podcast being produced and aired. pertaining to the younger generation: so much for the SF motto: "the quiet professionals".

I don't think you've ever served a day in your life your from the sound of your mindless and pointless rant. Plus you said you worked as a contractor for D.O.S you mean the department of state what were you doing exactly lmao were you advising the president on foreign policy issues as the DOS does or where you negotiating treaties and agreements with other United Nation countries and within in the confines of the United Nations HQ in New york or Geneva or the Hauge 😂 And You honestly sound quite jealous of Shawn and his guests. And your seriously butt hurt over a fkn Team 6 guy telling a story?! christ on a bike you sound like a legitimate fkn "Karen". Your mad at seal for sitting down and talking to another seal about the smallest fraction of his career and life and sharing his story and personal struggles and also bringing to light the incredible actions and heroics of others in his stories that deserve recognition to the fullest. Honestly I'm sure you "wanted" to serve but your b.s doesn't really make sense borderline "stolen valor" territory gonna need to see that 214 mr billy badass DOS contactor 😂

Thank you so much for sharing your harrowing & amazing stories in battle. More Americans who have not served need to hear this so they can understand there are real bad guys out there & to understand the hell of real war is. Too many Americans do not understand a tiny amount of the truth of battle & that there are evil enemies out there & if we don’t stop them in other countries then they will be here on our soil… and thanx to our government’s open borders policy now are? Too many Americans do not understand how good & easy we have it here? We use to have a real news media that would deploy with soldiers & report the truth, now we have a fake news media that more than half the time commiserates with the enemy… and they say it’s politically incorrect to even call someone our enemy?!?
