That is scary about the buddy heater. 500 of them were sent to TN and NC for the Appalachians that are in the higher hills living in tents. Patara from Appalachia Homestead spoke with the owner of that company. Glad your monitor alerted you to the danger. Are those chicks ready to go into the toddler/teenage grow out pen? What a wonderful time with such great friends. I would hoped you all were able to fill the tags for the kids. Yay for Phillip and Hunter.

Cassie I found out this morning when my whole house smelt like onions that gas companies have changed their additive fragrance that used to smell like rotten eggs now smells like onions! I hate gas! Yes, it’s good to have as a backup, but it’s a quick, silent killer! The gas man is the one that told me they had chained the addictive smell to onions!

I say beans for chili. But not if you’re putting it on hot dogs. Just meat and sauce for that. lol that’s really interesting information about the Stokes place. My Dad used to tell me about them putting milk cans under the wood of the floors and they would drop their coins in them to keep them safe. He found one one time while metal detecting. I thought deer came out in the evening. Best not be using that buddy heater anymore. Glad you had the free tour. Great video. Thank you. I hope Ransommand Ranger get one.

When you mentioned using the buddy heater I worried about the CO2. When I was a kid my parents had a travel trailer and we were camping in Colorado. We had no heater but had a small 3 burner cookstove that worked on butane. One night my dad woke up to a blinding headache. He went outside to get tylenol from the car and the fresh air stopped his headache almost immediately. Thats when he realized the problem. From then on, there were always a couple of windows left slightly open. This was before CO2 detectors were a common thing. I praise God that you had one installed!!😮

Im a volunteer fireman, when new heaters are first used, some tend to smoke or emit a smell which can cause false alarms of fire or gas. It id advisable to burn off "newness" to alleviate that situation. New paint, new plastic etc, puts off a burning smell. By "burning it off", it should reduce that and be safe to use in the bus.
@WalkerFarmFamКүн бұрын
We will give it another test run too, without people. It’s the most economical heat source
@outandaboutwithsamiam5034Күн бұрын
@@WalkerFarmFam Try setting the heater in an open area, turn it on high for a couple of hours, it should be fine after that. I had a similar situation in my camper van last winter...I did a burn off and it was fine after that.

@carolinedevlin15772 күн бұрын
Our butane heater actually says not to use indoors you have to be very careful and even though we also have gas connected in our camper you have to have a vent down at the lowest point which is the steps area as gas from gas bottles drops lower and it needs a way of escaping. It’s essential that you have detectors I’m glad yours did the job as carbon monoxide is certainly a silent killer , Maybe stick to the electric heaters on your power bases less chance of something happening 😊
