I remember visiting my grandparents in Ukrain in 1990, 45 years after WW2, and we were digging ground for bullets and shells. There were kids finding old unexploded bombs, blowing up trying to open them.. 45 years after the war, kids were still dying. I can’t imagine how many kids would die many years after this war is over, picking mushrooms, or walking through the fields.. this is so tragic.

While I completely abhor the usage of anti-personnel mines for the very same reason they have described here, are they going to mention that Ukraine still had 3.3 million of these in stock prior to the war? Are they not utilizing these as well?
@wandby70909 ай бұрын
we're mostly fighting on a Ukrainian territory that is occupied, so there is no need to use mines as russia has already done itself a favour, like since 2014 to today. I say mostly, because there are some she lling done to the ru territories, but with the amount of damage done that's like a bare minimum we can do as we can't just sit still and watch how everything goes under the rubble. honestly, 3,3 millions is not that large of a number especially when the war started years prior as some get stuck, some do not work (but they will in a couple of years), some do work, they don't calculate each and every one and its placement, it's a gamble. I can't say for sure that we do not use them, but with the amount of artillery we have, we have to be creative because that's not enough, unfortunately. The damage it does tho, even the land mines that are designed for tanks, in the long run become so delicate that a single step can make them deton ate. We were dealing with them since 2014 and some places do not remove them because it's just impossible so they just barricade the place/room and write ''mines'' on the trees, the signs or on the doors.. yep, the doors. It's a fascinated experience to go through the path with 'the mines' written on the trees, yet it is the only way to go and then have to walk into the building with the half of it being closed down due to something explo isive being in there. Or to have people constantly coming to schools to educate about different types, what to do, what not to do if you/your friend stepped into one, and the thing is, you can also step onto it by trying to help the other in need.
