Would have been a lot more interesting if the "kidnappers" we're not cartoons villains and instead actually just were trying to rescue their stolen family member. It also would have served as a cool little twist that made you reflect differently on everything that has happened. The little girl could then use her survival skills to escape/defeat the blind man.
@alwinwinter16452 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. That was the point of the first movie. First making you feel bad for the poor blind man being robbed only to find out *he's* the danger. I would have very much enjoyed this movie more if they did a sorta double twist. Making you think they want you to root for the blind man, only to twist it and have the people breaking in actually being the good guys. Or simy put some actual moral ambiguity in it by making both sides assholes, and making Phoenix have to fight for herself against both
@rachael86462 жыл бұрын
@@alwinwinter1645 I think they could have made us still partially feel that we can sympathize with the blind guy and have his love for his (stolen) daughter be real to him. They could even imply that he knew to some degree that she would eventually have to escape him, even though he would never let her go. And that when she realized he was bad, AND was able to escape him, it would prove to him in some twisted way that she was ready for the world. I think if they wanted to milk the first movie by continuing the story in some way it would have worked better if they made a videogame instead with Phoenix/Tara as the playable main character and the story told by her POV because while watching it kind of reminded me of Detroit: Become Human because of the environment and the sort of things they have to go through, and since it would be a different format being so different from the original movie would be more understandable, they could even have kept the same cast and get them to work with motion-capture

I can see why Phoenix at least would be attached to the Blind Man, I mean even if he was fucked up he DID raise her - there's bound to be some attachment there, especially since she doesn't have any frame of reference to understand how wrong her whole situation was. You could say that she should reject him after everything that happened in the movie but, 1) so much happened so quickly I doubt she had time to process everything properly and 2) as much as he brutally murdered people in front of her, the other people were shooting the only parental figure she had, trying to kidnap her and attempted to cut out her heart while she was awake. When your only choice is between these assholes and you have no other frame of reference? Yeah, I'd probably choose the person who raised and tried to save me too. Not to say that the Blind Man isn't a monster, he definitely is, but I get why she'd stay loyal to him. Hopefully, after some time spent around decent adults and other children, she'd come to understand that all of them were just as bad as each other.

@HANDzRUSH I don’t sympathize with rapists but if you remember the first movie, even tho it was fucked up, you could understand why he felt he deserved another daughter. Kinda the same dynamic conflict phoenix has, she knows what’s going on isn’t right but given the circumstances, she made a decision, same with the old man he knew impregnating a girl was wrong but he felt justified at the time, and to see him own that regret is cool at least. It’s also the fact that she was more used with that name and had much more memories being raised by the blind man. There is a movie with a similar situation called The Woman, in the end the main character (a savage lady) adopts a 6 year-old girl named Darlin’ that had just lost her parents and takes her away with her to the woods teaching her how to survive there, and in a sequel 10 years later Darlin’ is a teenager and she became just like her adoptive mama because since her life changed drastically all of sudden she blocked her memories of having a “normal life” before she went to live with the Woman in the woods and she barely remembers her biological parents (quite a blessing because Darlin’s parents were horrible you have no idea)

During the mid-credits she it shows his body, you can see one of his fingers are moving just a tiny bit before it turns pitch black. When I watched the movie for the first time, I noticed it very easily. The blind man isn't dead, probably he just passed out because when he got stabbed in the back, it wasn't really going to kill him that easily

4:05 my dog (profile picture) just died, yesterday. She went pretty peacefully in her sleep🙏. I spent so much time worrying about shit that was never gonna happen. I though i was gonna have to take her to be put down. She had stomach issues her whole life. It was probably stomach cancer that took her out. Saying I'm Broken is an understatement. I haven't slept much in two days cause my dam room feels so empty. Miss you girl, rest in Paradise🙏 Her name was Precious. She originally was a stray from Puerto Rico. She was a sweet lab mix. She by some miracle found her way to states, and then to Me after she was hard to manage. She was an angel with me from the get go. She actually followed me home after i lost my friend and was walking around crying. I had just got off heroin at that time, 2014. She might have saved my life. We walked 2 to 4 times in a day sometimes in the woods and she loved it. I gave her a good life. Still cant help but feel I could have done better but.. No more dogs for me.

God, I couldn't believe how many reviews/comments justified Blind Man's previous actions. I just don't get how anyone can think this guy is worth rooting for
@VirginiaDowdy7778212 жыл бұрын
Exactly! When I first watched this movie, I immediately went to YT to see how others felt about it and I was appalled by the number of people excusing his actions. Like, I get that this dude was grieving over the loss of his daughter, but... That is NO excuse for him to kidnap a teenager (I think she was a teenager?), impregnate her and enslave her inside his house and then try to do the same to another teenager! Also, how the hell was he certain that either one of them would have a baby girl? What if their children turned out to be boys - what was he gonna do then?!
@jdksdj112 жыл бұрын
For me the only time worth rooting for him was when the movie showed the real reason parents wanted her daughter back. I mean rooting in a way that he will save the kid not survive himself.

This movie is one of my top favorite "Senses horror movies". Throughout the entire thing, you are so paranoid that your own movements or actions would give away your location. The actor for the blind man was phenomenal, and gave an awesome performance. I would love to see him in stuff like the Evil Dead, he would rock the screen in a film like that.
