Welcome to the Heavy Spoilers show, I'm your host Paul and this video we're breaking down Deadpool.

With the third film right around the corner I thought we'd return to the original to talk about how it was made, the easter eggs in it and everything that brought us this comic book classic.
Now Ryan Reynolds was put in Maximum effort in order to get it released with it originally looking like it would never see the light of day. You see the film had actually been in development since 2004 with David S Goyer penning the script. Coming off the back of Blade Trinity the pair had worked together to make...well....what was basically deadpool-lite which had started to pave the way.
This is why they throw this line in later as it was supposed to be a nod to the roots of him getting the role.

Artisan had signed a deal with Marvel just 4 years earlier and they seemingly owned the rights to the character.
Reynolds was down to do it and thus the pair started putting it together but they ran into a snag.
Turned out that owned the rights to the X-men and technically that ecompassed Deadpool as well.

Fun fact, in patients with bilateral amygdala damage (meaning they normally never feel fear in any scenario), the _only_ thing found to induce a fear response (to the point of panic attacks) was the feeling of suffocation by carbon dioxide inhalation, leading to raised CO2 levels in the blood It's possible Wade simply endured all the other torture because he could, but when it came to suffocation he responded in the same way as literally any other human would, even those with damaged or absent amygdalae, and that was the trigger for his powers

@@Joker_JAK no. He was just being silly. In the post credit scene he SHOT the Deadpool from the Patrick Stewart timeline. We will probably get Jonathan Hickman’s Krakoan X-Men adaption …. With the James McAvoy timeline x-men characters coming to MCU. They won’t be discriminated because they are “mutants,” but because they are ILLEGAL multiversal immigrants … they will live on an island … Krakoa. Doing that makes sense because, although we still have race issues, we have MORE problems with immigration (Syrian refugees in Europe, Mexican immigrants to USA, etc). The world has this as a COMMON ISSUE, not race discrimination (which is so 1960s).

As much as I love this theory time, the torture was just supposed to be the sped up process as born mutants gain their powers at the start of puberty, so it stands to reason that a physical equivalent of changes on your body that far into ones lifetime would also trigger the same effects

I think the fact on chimichangas/pancakes is a bit off. He says chimichangas in Cable & Deadpool repeatedly and when asked in if he liked them he admitted he had no idea what it was and it was just a word that came to him and he liked how it sounded. He continued that in his appearances in the new (at the time) X Force comics.

I live in downtown Vancouver and this movie is like a walk through my neighbourhood. The Orange #5, Chinatown, and the freeway, are all around 6 blocks from me. As well as being a reference to Peter Parker, the Parker Street exit also actually leads to Parker street.
