That's how Wade sees the world normally, he experiences things from his broken head as if they were real, when he looks at other characters he sees them differently, for instance in his mind Rogue is a cactus that wears a cowboy hat, in his eyes the world is a cartoon full of cartoon characters, even colours are brighter like a cartoon. He sees his dirty apartment like a secret lair with high tech equipment, Fury and other heroes calling him on an imaginary computer to praise his last mission or beg him to join their team, he lives in his own universe. Sam in Gen V has the same issues, he sees people as hand puppets but only when he loses control, Wade is never in control of his mind, that's what makes him so unpredictable, Taskmaster has said that his insanity and unpredictability is what makes him the most lethal hand-to-hand fighter in the MCU. Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe Again is a storyline that has Wade manipulated by Dr. Doom and various other bad guys to kill other heroes, a lot of it is seen from Wade's broken-headed perspective, it's like a bad acid trip.

The woman on Wade's shirt is the late Golden Girls star Bea Arthur. In the comics, Wade LOVES Bea Arthur, and was genuinely outraged when she isn't awarded Sexiest Woman Of The Year. In order to get permission to use her image in the movie, Ryan Reynolds personally asked Bea's family, who gave their approval on the condition that Ryan gave money to her estate's charity. He donated $10,000. And yes, those are actual IKEA products. IKEA agreed to have their products mentioned in the movie as long as they weren't portrayed negatively (and I think they also insisted that their products' names were pronounced accurately.) The humor comes from the fact that they're having Al - a blind woman - attempting to assemble it as she and Wade have a trivial discussion about their IKEA preferences. The budget was surprisingly modest because Fox initially had no intention of making a Deadpool movie after the character's appearance in the disapppointing X-Men Origins: Wolverine was lambasted by fans for its poor portrayal of Deadpool. But in 2014, a piece of CGI test footage made by Tim Miller and Ryan Reynolds for a proposed Deadpool solo movie was leaked online and went viral. The overwhelmingly positive response from fans to the footage ultimately convinced Fox to greenlight the production, though they remained cautious by keeping the budget so low.

Goes to show how a limited budget can make for a better outcome. Apparently the 12 bullet fight was going to be a more traditional big shootout but they couldn't afford the effects, and the bullet countdown approach makes for a way funnier, original and more memorable scene. The generic and grossly expensive films getting pumped out by Marvel and Disney stand in such stark contrast.

43:30 Yes they didn't think it was going to work. The bridge scene was drawn up and animated as a sales pitch and they didn't like it, but it somehow got leaked. Ryan says it might have been his with the comment "Mother doesn't know alot about computer's", as he can't admit he was the one leaking it. The clip got so much hype and so many people wanted to see it, and that changed the mind of the studios to give it a shot. If that leak hadn't happend this movie would not have been made, problibly. What's funny is that in the comics, it's the other way around. Deadpool *DESPERATELY WANTS* to be an X-Man, he pesters their leaders, he wears X-Men hoodies and tells people he's an X-Man. While the X-Men don't want to have anything to do with the crazy murderous maniac, and they keep correcting him every time he says he's one of them. Once Wade called Cyclops on his cellphone... Deadpool: "Hey, Cyke, we have a situation, here..." Cyclops: "How did you get this number?" Deadpool: "HA! Funny. You always crack me up. But listen... there's something going on with one of the students..." Cyclops: "No, seriously. *How did you get this number?* " 😂

yeah, DP can basically bypass the brain's limitation on strength since he can always regenerate. any normal people punching Colossus would probably be in pain, but still be whole, because DP have no more limiter, he shattered his wrists and ankle. Since, compared to less angry Rosie O'Donnell who has super strength and a body able to withstand that strength, DP only has super regeneration

Fun Fact: Deadpool creator Rob Liefeld got the name from a Clint Eastwood movie called The Deadpool about an assassin killing celebrities in order to win a deadpool. A deadpool is a betting game where people try to guess which celebrities are going to die in a given year. Extra Fun Fact: The Deadpool features Guns & Roses as a famous rock band that Clint is assigned to protect from the deadpool killer, they used the money they made from the movie to produce their first album Appetite For Destruction which turned them into a famous rock band.

@@ll7868 What? Deadpool first appeared in comics back in 1990. His big screen debut was in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" in 2009. It's the movie where Tom Rothman ordered a complete redesign of the character - removing DP's costume & mouth, giving him swords in his arms, laser eyes, and teleportation powers. Ryan told the studio that fans would hate the changes, but they said he should quit if he wasn't going along with the new look. It's one of the most notorious examples of studio interference.

@ashylton6857 The Deadpool movie came out in 1988. When Rob was ripping off DC's Deathstroke to create Deadpool for his 1990 debut he needed a name, he got the name Deadpool from watching the movie. Rob Liefeld is a big Dirty Harry fan, big gun, and The Deadpool is the 5th and final movie in the series, he watched the movie and thought "The Deadpool...no, just Deadpool, that's the perfect name for an assassin character, much better than Stroker Ace!". Stroker Ace is a sports term for deliberately hitting someone in the crotch and not getting penalized for it, it's also the name of a Burt Reynolds NASCAR movie. When Deadpool hits a dude in the car crash scene he yells "NUTSHOT!", that's a Stroker Ace, he broke a cardinal rule of gentlemanly conduct and got away with it.

Valentine's Day date with the lady, late showing . One of the funniest parts of the movie was watching the families start to filter out after the intro and the mass exodus that ensued once the Calendar Girl scene started.

They worked the low budget in the plot in other ways. Wade "forgot" his duffle bag of guns for the final battle because they didn't have the FX budget for a huge gun battle. IIRC, TJ Miller ad-libbed most of he "Deadpool looks like" lines. They just picked out the ones they liked the most and put them in the movie. I think the cut lines scene is on KZbin. Angel Dust was played by Gina Carano, who later starred in The Mandalorian. I take it you didn't catch the reference to Green Lantern? "Don't make the uniform CGI, or green." Other works have broken the fourth wall. Blazing Saddles, for one. Also John Byrne's run on She-Hulk, which was repeated on the She-Hulk: Attorney at Law series. In fact Byrne had Jennifer literally walking through comic book panel lines into the next panel, which the series later emulated. Deadpool 2 is just as good. Some of the meta jokes are arguably better. You should watch it ASAP!

For legal reasons they never reveal who owns it but it's fun world building for people who notice. For comic fans the aircraft carriers made their first appearance in Strange Tales #135 (1965) used by S.H.I.E.L.D. The director of Deadpool even brought this up when asked about it saying: "No, it's clearly not the Helicarrier. I just want to say for the record, there's a lot of groups in the Marvel universe who use flying combat platforms. It's not just the Helicarrier. A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics) has some. It could have been anything but a S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier. Because that would be outside of the purview of the Fox/Marvel arrangement." - Tim Miller (Grin on his face) Maybe the Helicarrier we see in this film is used by a policing group like the Mutant Response Division or who knows maybe S.H.I.E.L.D. do exist here but for legal reasons can't be mentioned. 1:38 Yeah without giving any spoilers away. Days of Future Past (2014) kind of rebooted the X-Men Universe giving birth to a new continuity with changes but also shared elements across the two continuities. It's not a good movie but X-Men Origins: Wolverine had a version of "Deadpool" but fans hated it as it simply wasn't the Deadpool we know and love from the comics. So this reboot allowed them to re-introduce the character with a new origin and overall make him closer to his rendition from the comics. Most of the X-Men films released pre MCU so continuity wasn't a big thing back in the 2000s when it came to these films. So with the birth of the MCU in 2008 with Iron Man everyone else started to take note on how amazingly well the MCU maintained a solid continuity across films so Fox wanted to try to do this with X-Men. Deadpool is actually the first film set within this new continuity as well so that's pretty funny, allowing people unaware of the X-Men series to jump right into Deadpool and be pretty fine with everything that's going on.

Usually a mutant's powers activate automatically when they hit puberty. The idea in this story is that everyone has a LATENT mutant gene, and by exposing someone to extreme circumstances (in this case torture), it can be activated at a later point in life.

Some Deadpool fun facts: Ryan Reynolds first became interested in the character when someone handed him a comic because in it someone said Deadpool looked like a mix between Ryan Reynolds and a sharpei (leading to the line in this movie "looks like I was bitten by a radioactive sharpei") Ryan Reynolds portrayed Deadpool in X-men Origins: Wolverine, but almost backed out of the film because he hated the script, particularly the portrayal of Deadpool, but was told this was the only way he'd get another chance to make a movie portraying him the right way. Ryan Reynolds then spent 10 years trying to get this movie made. They got as far as shooting some test footage that got rejected. Then during Comic-Con someone (one of Reynolds, Miller, or the writers) leaked the test footage and the response was so overwhelming that Fox was essentially forced to make the movie. During the final fight, he was originally supposed to use all the guns he gathered in an all out brawl, but at the last minute the studio massively cut the budget, so they came up with him forgetting the guns in the cab. For the ikea jokes, they originally came up with fake names for the furniture, but then they called ikea to give them a heads up they were making these jokes and ikea loved it and told them to use the real names. You should chec out some of the marketing for the movie as it's almost like a movie itself. They kinda just let Ryan Reynolds go nuts with it (which actually led to Ryan Reynolds starting a marketing business)

Ryan literally plays himself which is basically Deadpool in training. The Halloween episodes are amazingly hilarious every year. Nathan Fillion joined the show in the second season and made it even more awesome.

Since you seem to like Vanessa, played by Morena Baccarin, may I suggest watching Firefly (2002)? It also stars one of Ryan's old cast mates from Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place, Nathan Fillion. Also Alan Tudyk, Gina Torres, Adam Baldwin, Summer Glau, Jewel Staite, Sean Maher and Ron Glass. There's only 14 episodes from it's sole season, plus the 2005 feature film, Serenity.

18:45 Well it depends. Deadpool originally was a mutate, gaining his powers from a experimental test (Apart of the Weapon X Program) rather than him having the X Gene. Spider-Man for example is regarded as a mutate as well, anyone who gains powers that mutates their DNA from an external source is often classed as a mutate. A Mutant on the other hand is someone born with the Mutant X Gene with the mutation itself occurring mostly during puberty or in high levels of stress. It was later revealed that Deadpool, was actually a latent mutant, whose X-gene was artificially activated. So close to what you see in this film. But for most Mutants they'll gain there powers during puberty so not a good time for the parents or child. This is why the school was set up to help these young Mutants understand and control their powers while also giving them a safe place to study, live and learn. Speaking of Spider-Man. In the comics alot of the public actually believe that Spider-Man is a mutant often causing him to get hate from people and groups with Anti Mutant views. Maybe it's because he's friend with a bunch of the X-Men or that he's helped them out a good amount of times so the public just assume he's one as well. But like I imagined he's a mutate but no doubt still welcomed into the X-Men family, would imagine they'd be okay with Mutates attending the school, would love an alternate reality story of "What If... Peter Parker attended Xavier's School after gaining his powers".

The thing that's always annoyed me about this movie: Not being able to feel pain isn't a superpower, it's a severe disability. He can't feel pain but he can still bleed to death and he doesn't have super healing.

Deadpool knows he's a comic book character. He's completely insane to the point we don't know if anything he has ever said is true or not, he may be the most insane comic book character like up there with the Joker. His healing power is way stronger than Wolverines. Wade is one of very very few truly immortal Marvel characters due to Thanos making him immortal as they are both in love with Death but she has banned Thanos from entering her realm making Thanos immortal so Thanos made Deadpool immortal to keep him away from her.

Two things about the movie. The woman on Wades shirt is Golden Girls star Bea Arthur. In the comics Wade/Deadpool is a HUGE Bea Arthur fan and Ryan wanted it in the movie as a homage. Beas estate agreed it could be done if a 10k dollar donation was given to a charity of their choice. Just like the writer situation the studio didnt think it was a good use of funds so Ryan paid the 10k out of his own pocket. Second is how the movie got Greenlit. Originally Miller and Reynolds made a short proof of concept trailer, a proto version of the Highway scene. They showed it to Fox and they werent interested. Well the teaser "accidentally" got leaked to KZbin and the trailer EXPLODED in popularity. So because of the response to the teaser Fox then greenlit the full production.

The director of the Xmen Origins Wolverine completely rewrote the character of Deadpool from the comics, and did such a hatchet job that when Ryan went to the studio to make the movie he was denied. However the test footage he had shot was "leaked" online and went viral, so the studio caved in and gave them a super small budget to work with.

Deadpool is a comedy masterpiece… on top of a great superhero film. Leave it to a Canadian to play the greatest underrated Canadian superhero. Ryan Reynolds’s was a labor of love. I’m so glad Disney “grew up” and gave a green light to the 3rd and upcoming Deadpool movie. When they acquired Marvel, we all thought the franchise was doomed. Fortunately they allowed it to live on.

There are also callback to this one in Deadpool 2, but they are throwaway background things. For example, there really is cocaine next to the cure for blindness. My favorite line delivery the the "Eat a just before the final fight. Just the way he said it gets me every time. The reason it didn't have as many guns is they didn't have the money for it. Reynolds, err.... "Somebody" leaked the freeway opening on the internet as a way to force the studio to make the rest of the movie. Also Stan Lee has a cameo in every MCU movie. Well, almost every.

This is my favorite “comic book” movie and character. I love how it essentially makes fun of itself and other movies like it. Your reaction and feedback provided a more “in the biz” point of few which was great. Now it’s time to watch Deadpool 2, and there’s a trailer for Deadpool 3! Deadpool 3 is half sarcastically said to “save the MCU”, now that Disney owns Marvel instead of Fox. There’s rumors to SO MANY X Men and Marvel characters being in DP3, it is going to be insane!
