Which would explain why the usually-sarcastic Deadpool was genuinely grateful for once. That being said, doesn't Deadpool eventually die anyways, with his elderly daughter accompanying him in rest?

Me personally why I think the spirit of Vengeance flipped out and turned him back into Johnny is Deadpool's knowledge of the fourth wall drove the spirit of Vengeance crazy kind of like what happened to Professor X when he tried to read Deadpool's mind
@lampostsamurai25182 күн бұрын
It's more likely that it recognized Deadpool is trying to be good and has victimized himself in his desire to find meaning. Modern Deadpool is at least trying to be heroic regularly. The thing wade needs to repent for, more than anything else, is what he's done to himself his own self hatred, his choices to be self destructive, wade is his own worst enemy. Before he knew he had a healing factor or had it enhanced, we see he can fight incredibly deadly. Afterwards? He's as happy as moon night to be a human shaped bullet to be fired at a problem, even when he could likely just resolve much of it calm and professionally.
@Daverast012 күн бұрын
@@lampostsamurai2518 that is a great point you made Deadpool really is his worst own worst enemy but that begs the question how come immediately after the penence stare was used on Deadpool Ghost Rider turned back into Johnny Blaze which is why I think Deadpool's knowledge of the fourth wall knocked him back into human form like I said it's been proven time and time again Deadpool's knowledge of the fourth wall protects him from most mental attacks which is why it backfires on telepaths when they try to read his mind so if you take all this into account the penance stare makes you relive your past sins and guilt so technically I think that would make that a mental as well as a soul attack which is why it backfired on Johnny but that's just my theory but still that's a great point you made
@lionelwhiskerknot2 күн бұрын
@@Daverast01 Penance stare is suppose to be a spiritual attack and I'm not sure they did it right on Deadpool. Wade is definitely capable of having regret for his actions. His powers and deformities and mind shouldn't matter as the stare looks into the soul of the individual but through various writers it hasn't stayed much to it's roots. I think there is even a comic where they made the Punisher immune which is absolute BS. Now the one thing that would have an effect on the stare is insanity because if you do something out of insanity there may not have been a conscious choice to make a sin. The goal of the stare is justice and make you feel the pain you inflicted on others. However, since Wade is also a victim of himself my theory is it caused feedback during the stare since he himself was one of the biggest victims. This also explains why instead of reliving the sin he inflicted on someone else he relives his own painful memory.
@nameoftheedgyvariety49882 күн бұрын
Iirc, in the comic that Punisher was immune, that version of the stare used the victims regrets to inflict harm. The problem with that version of Frank however was that he had none, he didn’t regret a single broken bone, popped eye, ruptured organ, or bullet to the brain he’d inflicted on any of his victims, so no regrets, no effect.

@@nameoftheedgyvariety4988Frank got hit with the penance stare three times both times Ketch did it to Frank it worked and one of those was after that Thunderbolts issue where it failed when Blaze did it, the “no regrets=no effect” rule was Jason Aaron’s shitty idea

i interpret it as the spirit of Vengeance tried to have wade reflect no iteration of the penance stare would outright kill wade due to his relationship with his past and his immortality so once this was established the spirit saw no need to stick around or saw Johnny talking to Wade as for more useful than staying out
