I know this will get buried but just want to thank deadwing dork for being willing to cover this kind of content despite how risky it is to post about it. My childhood neighbor's favorite thing was to hurt goobery cute things. Puppies, kittens, hamsters, and human children alike. Would make crush videos etc. He would double bind me into painful acts under the threat of hurting the animals...which he did sometimes anyways. I appreciate the tone of these videos. Stretching this horror and derangement into absurdism through humor softens it and makes it more digestable to regular people. In contrast to true crime or conspiracy vids for example. This is very important: most people see zoo/sadism as an extreme thing that barely exists, which is probably true. But it does touch people (and our animal friends) in the real world in traumatizingly horrific ways and there is no socially acceptable space to discuss it. A lot of people at my therapy groups don't want to hear anything about it. So yeah, thanks again. My experience with this tier of psycho feels more validated everytime you do one of these streams. I am tempted to donate but I don't like connecting my card info to online infrastructure. Forgive my boomer energy. So thank you thank you thank you.

I picture him sitting there in an interrogation room face swollen bruised and bleeding with large knots on his head and welts oozing blood on his back desperately writing page after page of nonsense and repeating the words "I'm sorry" in the vein hope that the pain would stop and he could go back to his cell.

I get that. Know what I did? I grew tf up, went to therapy, got actual help, stopped cutting, cut out every person in my life who got me to that low place, stopped looking for that toxic content, and I've never gotten even close to that low again. 37:16 - I heard a saying that goes 'Any man who must say, "I am the king" is no true king.', always comes to my mind when someone keeps patting themselves on the back claiming they are (insert descriptive) but are truly the opposite. The way they repeat on and on what kind of person they are is, at least how it's coming off to me, kind of a way to convince themselves more than convincing others. Almost like life coaches saying to keep telling yourself positive things in front of a mirror every morning until you believe it. (unrelated: Good job with the video you are both amazing! 1:26:44 There's a good reason that Friendship is Magic has a lot in common with Powerpuff Girls: The creators of the two shows, Craig McCracken and Lauren Faust, are married. Faust actually used to work on Powerpuff Girls, and the two of them collaborate on their creative works.
@ArtsyStarleta4 жыл бұрын
Yeah idk why that never comes up whenever people go "WHY OH WHY WOULD PEOPLE LIKE THIS SHOW". Why the hell did people watch the Powerpuff Girls. Why did adults like Foster's Home. Craig and Lauren are just good showrunners. The idea that people act like adults can never like a cartoon based entirely on face-value and what the cartoon *looks like* is an idea I am so done with. From the perspective of a cartoonist and animator, the concept of your creation having such a wide appeal is the sign of a job well done.
@Gigadramon64 жыл бұрын
@@ArtsyStarleta At least in the case of Friendship is Magic, all of the older My Little Pony series were... not quite of the same quality, so it's very likely that anyone hearing about the series would just assume that it's the same merchandise-driven drivel that the older shows were. And from talking/listening to actual MLP fans, the series that immediately preceeded FiM was actually kind of hot garbage.

It’s so weird coming back to this and listening to the talk that’s in this letter. I’m pretty sure it was Deadwing and Fredrick in my head when a toxic ass person sent me message upon message about how awful and upset she was at how she treated me. But the thing was, it was all like this. Gaslighting with “I swear I can’t believe that was me/that wasn’t me who did those things to you”, the downplaying it and overplaying it “Oh I was such an awful person who did so many awful things but I hope maybe you can forgive me and can accept this apology”, the constant bring people in when there’s NO reason to involve them, such as the friend of Woof’s, and the seeking validation in an authority such as God or in Time, like those are the only parties responsible for passing judgment and not the actual human being the person is talking to. Not to mention the over hype of “positivity” and “I’m on the right path now” This isn’t just a narc, this is a sociopath who’s delusional and should be shot. Or choked out

i'm glad you guys also got kinda hung up on him referring to the two dobermans he supposedly loved so much as "the male" and "the female" because that stood out to me too. to me it just feels like a tell that even if he is expressing what he thinks is genuine love for these dogs he knew, he's still objectifying them. i work at a dog daycare and supplement my income with dogsitting, so i spend basically my entire life around dogs by choice, and i wouldn't even refer to dogs i've never met by their sex, let alone dogs i love and have a bond with. if he had such a meaningful emotional bond with these dogs that he commemorates their names in his usernames to this day, why would he wait to tell us their names until the very end of that big long anecdote in favor of referring to them in such a detached and clinical way. i do believe he thinks that what he felt for those dogs was love, but i think what he always felt was a love of the feeling of being around the object of his attraction. ps i loved the last podcast shoutout

He exposed himself to the material to the point where he became inured, and then chose to continue by acting it out. He calls it brainwashing, but he wasn't subjected to any of it.
