My mum spent hours upon hours when I was like 3yrs old trying to teach me to say words properly for the hearing world instead of teaching me sign language. It was a gamble, all the doctors told her I'd never talk, need hearing aids from birth and thus needed to learn sign language. My mum refused, she said "He will talk like a normal child" - The doctors then sent my mum to court over grounds of child abuse. My mum actually won her case, she beat the "professionals" the "doctors" and today I thank God that my mum did... I cant talk perfect or hear perfect, but I can interact with more people than that if my mum took her doctors advice and taught me sign... remember they said I'd never be able to talk, well thanks to all the effort my mum has put in while I was growing up, I can talk SO WELL that nobody knows I'm deaf UNLESS I tell them...... Yet im severe to profoundly deaf. My mum calls it a miracle ordained by God.

People can learn more than one language. She took a huge huge gamble when she could gave taught you both.

@@junbh2 Why would I need to learn to sign? In my 33yrs Ive met only 2 people completely reliant on it vs thousands of people that speak English. I personally think my mum made right choice as my ability to know how to sign would have been next to useless. And if I could only sign, Id prob be totally restricted to my family as hardly anyone in the average public knows either.

I'm profoundly deaf. Same with you and my mother! She took me to the public school when I was 8. I was so happy with "hearing" children at the school. before I went to the public. the school for the Deaf office told my mother that I won't be smart and can't speak to the pubic school. She said, " Oh yes, She will!' then she said Good Bye. then she left.

Little Sister if I didn't know he was deaf, I would have assumed he's not a native speaker. Though the girl after him with the blue shirt speaks totally normally.

That man with his batman shirt is the best! He's so smart! . First man with his bedroom who refuse to speak and wear hearing aid. That's his choice. Fine, I'm profoundly deaf. I'm speak and i don't choose to sign language much. because That's my choice and All of my family were all hearing, neighbor, and church. I feel comfortable with hearing people than deaf people with ALS. I married to my husband is hearing. He born speaking spanish then speaking english.

A lot of people say that I have a thick accent & they dont understand what I say sometimes. I took offense to that, because I always try to make myself clear. I am hard of hearing, what's the cause of this?
@DragonFighter11335 жыл бұрын

If you're deaf does that mean you w on't know to hide when the gunshots go off in school?
@justinestes7833 жыл бұрын
Deaf person speaking, deaf people won’t be able to hear the gunshots but I’m sure since they’re highly sense of visibility, they’re be able to Be Aware of what’s going on.
