Nick Adams It's really funny to me when people say a band is playing music "that is not them". Sadly (and, sometimes, luckily), people change, and with that their writing skills, clothes, music, preferences.... Sounds typical, but we all do that, so, saying that something "is not them" is kinda stupid.
@ChatmakGames10 жыл бұрын
Nick Adams Actually, if you'd watched the 'English Hearts' documentary from the deluxe edition of Old Souls, you'd know that THIS is not them. What they've become and their new stuff IS. The Meet Me Halfway/Fools period was one where they were worried about what their sound was like and whether people would like it whereas now they're just writing music that they enjoy.

LYRICS: So, where do I begin? I woke up today Dragged this broken suitcase through the rain I've been searching for the inspiration Got lost along the way And you said before I left, "James, don't you drink yourself to death" Well my darling, I'm afraid I can't keep that promise Or even try my best. So while you sleep alone tonight I'll be up 'till the morning light So for now, things will be alright Another place that felt like home for these past 7 months Is nothing but a number on a door And a street that felt familiar once And I've got this great ability To ruin everything that's good for me And i swear I won't be satisfied 'till everything goes wrong ('Till everything goes wrong) While you sleep alone tonight I'll be up 'till the morning light So for now, things will be alright I know soon there will be a day When these glazed eyes will fade away 'Cause the truth is I'm not okay I will start again I will retrace every step I'll start again I'll start, again So while you sleep alone tonight I'll be up 'till the morning light So for now, things will be alright I know soon there will be a day When these glazed eyes will fade away 'Cause the truth is I'm not okay So while you sleep alone tonight While you sleep alone tonight Will you sleep alone tonight? I'll be up 'till the morning light Tonight.

I love this song so much. Since it was released I still listening to it on repeat. This song is so good. This was the only song I knew from this band, so I search other musics and it's so different. Why???
@jonathanwong82839 жыл бұрын
Before this song they had a screamer (Ryan) and they released an album with a post-hardcore screamo sound. This song was released between that first album (Meet Me Halfway, At Least) and their second album (Fools and Worthless Liars), which marked their transition into a more alt-rock sound since Ryan left. For their third album (Old Souls) the band had added 2 members to become a six-piece, and transitioned to a more folk-rock oriented sound, but with their single 'Cassiopeia' (possibly off their upcoming album) I believe they're back on the alt-rock track.

@Interestingenough48 жыл бұрын
While they did have a few good screamo rock songs, ditching the screamo was the best thing they could've done. This song, and then their album "Fools and Worthless Liars," was easily their best material. Glad to see that "Cassiopeia" was a nice return to this style, which suits them best. Not that "Old Souls" was bad, it just was inconsistent from song to song.
@HericlesHericles8 жыл бұрын
To be honest you don't know what screamo really is. Go search for bands like Orchid, The Saddest Landscape, Funeral Dinner and you will see what i'm talking about This song is nothing but Post-Hardcore/Alternative Rock
@Interestingenough48 жыл бұрын
I didn't say this song was screamo. I was referring to their first "official" album before this, which featured a screamer and had a screamo rock sound. But then the screamer quit, so they decided to change music direction completely. This particular song is pop-emo/alt-rock.
@HericlesHericles8 жыл бұрын
+Interestingenough4 and i'm saying that this isn't emo and they weren't screamo before lol But i don't know why i commented that, i guess i was bored at the time lol

This video is just right. Smiles all around is an ironic title. This means everybody seems so happy except for the artist. Their walking signifies how James might have left home. I know how it felt.
