A playthrough of Mindscape's 2008 licensed game show game for the Nintendo Wii, Deal or No Deal: The Banker is Back.
The video shows two games: the first is of the classic mode, and the second, beginning at 14:02, is of the banker mode.
This right here is the British Wii adaptation of Deal or No Deal, meaning that we no longer have a stage filled with coked-up tried-to-be models being leered at by Howie Mandel. Instead, in the Channel 4-sponsored quest to win £250,000, Mindscape gives us Noel Edmonds, looking a right berk on the box art as he holds a Wii-mote to his face like it's a phone, standing as master-of-ceremonies at the head of those two long yet still awkwardly crowded tables.
The presentation is a bit different from the US version ( • Deal or No Deal (Wii) ... ), but the general premise is the same. Make enough lucky guesses and you'll walk home with a small fortune, however smaller once the tax man has had his dig.
I have to give it props for its hilarious music. Does anyone remember the bit in Forgetting Sarah Marshall where the guy starts ranting about ominous tones? I think he was talking about this game's soundtrack.
Just like the TV show, it requires zero skill, but I always found it oddly entertaining, and less so for its name than the game itself, which is much more than I can say for Golden Balls ( • Golden Balls (Wii) Pla... ). Still, if you like game show games, this one can be a bit of mindless fun with a few friends.
And I have to admit, I love it when the old woman busts a move to 70s porn music on-stage in her purple moo-moo. That right there is magic.
