FCA TECH here and unfortunately at the dealer level they don’t give us the tools to install used modules and it definitely makes things more difficult.

Lol theyre right unless they go through all of what you did in this video. No shop that ive worked at has ever disected a ecm to resolder joints, or remove and replace chips. Thats a very specialized field which is why bad computers get sent off to a specialist for repair. Its awesome that you have the money to incorperate this into your new shop but i dont think thats sustainable or attainable for most unless you have a dedicated tech and thats all he does is that. Cool stuff though

I guess what the dealer should have said is it wasn't possible unless the CIA, NSA, or L1 was involved. 🙂 But seriously, most anything is possible if you start dissecting the electronics and have the right tools. Dealers and manufacturers are not in that business, nor would they want to have to guaranty board level work.

This is hardware hacking that is punishable by law and the manufacturer.

Negative, the chip on the board is a widely availble commercially produced chip. The data sheet is freely downloadable for all from every site that sellls the chip.

@@L1Training the chip and the datasheet are not the issue. It's the porting of the software. But you keep believing what you want.

Hardware hacking is not illegal in most places at all if you a) own the hardware, b) do not defraud anyone you sell it on to, c) don't do it to achieve illegal results. Manufacturers may (legally or not so legally) refuse to honor contracts though, but handing out punishment is not their privilege.
