Thanks a lot for your review & comparisons!! I have the XReal Air 2 Pro & Beam bundle coming to me soon in the mail, I’m so excited 🥰 I’m not really concerned with all the negative reviews about “viewing angle”. People *love* to exaggerate & complain. It’s amazing this screen is even possible on your face, like shut up 😅 Maybe some people need glasses & don’t even know it, bc they just need a weak prescription lens 🤷🏽‍♀️

Thanks for the review! I can feel 30 grams difference between the steamdeck OLED and LCD, I can imagine that 7g on your face is a big upgrade. The nose pads slipping off of my nose are my biggest complaint with the V1's. I essentially have to always look slightly up to keep them in place. Given your review, I think I'll try to DIY a more comfortable pad instead of upgrading to the V2's.... unless I just win the lotto or something then Air2Pro's it is!

Curious that at 12:20 you mentioned you put your own lens onto the device frame? (as you just use them from my old glasses made little holes to attach to the actual nose frame) May I know how to make the holes? Is that easy to operate or do you need to have any specific device to do that? I would love to hear more about that?

I used smallest drill bit I could find and just drilled them carefully. I think I got lucky by not accidentally breaking the lenses, but it is certainly possible

Thank you so much for your detail video my know some more information about how you are using your existing lens and then pinch or hinge it to the X real air frame? because I believe that can save a lot of money and time for trying the things on! Thank you so much

I just tried it and Yes! You can, however it’s not a perfect replacement as “base” of notepads is slightly different size, but nonetheless it works

Don’t have either, better to buy 1 or 2? If I can modify the nose pad, would the 1 be more worth it? I do plan on maybe using this in the gym while biking or walking outside. Is the $100 difference really that worth it in your personal opinion?

Go with Gen 1. That’s just my personal opinion, but I think 1 absolutely great assuming you replace nose pads.

Yes gen 1 is very comfortable for long sessions (as long as you get gen2 nose pads), I watch full movies and play bg3 for hours with them on and don’t have any complaints

It is an upgrade to quality of life features but a massive downgrade to the lenses. I want this to visualize stuff without cropping and blurriness, not to have a pair of comfy glasses.

Ok, I spend last hour testing and retesting this, here is my results: I tested 3 different glasses 2 pairs of Air 1 and one pair of Air 2. Let’s break it down to two parts, crop and blurriness. “Crop” - genuinely don’t see it. I see the edges of the “lens” which are larger on Air 1, that is true, however the actual screen is absolutely identical. So I agree that lens looks smaller, but I do see an affect on the actual size of light up screen. “Blurriness” - I never noticed it before you pointed it out, but you are correct, the corners of the screen seem a little blurry compared to to Air 1, however when I pressed Air 2 a little closer to my face it completely fixed it, so maybe some people’s faces (including mine) is not as perfectly aligned with Air 2 screens. With that said, playing with smaller sizes of nose pads helped the situation as it makes glasses sit closer to your eyes and minimizing blurriness (however if you looking for it in the very edges of corners, it’s there). To summarize: Screen size/crop - possibly it’s affecting only some particular models or people with specific face shapes that makes it screen look a bit further? With that said in my personal experience I don’t see it. I measured it multiple times and I don’t see even slightest difference in actual screen size. I can see that surrounding lens is smaller but it doesn’t affect screen size at all. Blurriness - you are correct. I never noticed it because you have to pay attention to the very corner and naturally you eyes just don’t go there so I missed it. Also I noticed that by pushing glasses just a notch closer to face blurriness almost completely disappears, making me think that it could be related to angle of the screens and depending on everyone’s face structure/symmetry results might vary (just my theory, not a fact) which would explain why some people (me) not really even noting it while other having issue with it. Keep in mind that this is just my personal experience and obviously not very scientific testing. I tested all 3 glasses using direct wire connection with my SteamDeck. I hope this helps

Daniel, Its definitely a smaller field of view, i tested the v1 and v2. The field of view is maybe 43 degrees, compared to thr 46 degrees of the first gen. It will crop/blur the image right left and bottom. The person in the video cant notice it as much, because his eyes are closer together than the average person. Its also something common with people in china (where the glasses are designed). Which is why i believe xreal didnt notice the problem. They were testing it on people with smaller eye distance than the average person. This is why a bigger field of view is always better than a smaller field of view. The v2 are not 46 degrees field of view, they are maybe like 43 degrees, which makes the image more blurry for most people. Xreal wanted to cut cost, but in the end its making them lose customers. There are more negative complaints about the glasses on amazon and reddit, than positive ones.

Is the screen size bigger on the air 2. Amazon shows air 1 has 201 inch screen vs the air 2 has 330 inch screen. None of the reviews are talking about this difference.
@DealerofHappiness

Screen is same, but lens to see the screen is actually slightly smaller on Air 2. What that means is sometimes on Air 2 you could notice a little bit blurry corners/edges of the screen - which is not the case on Air 1. With that’s said, the actual screen is identical.

@@DealerofHappiness Thanks for confirming that. Does the beam enable to make the size bigger ?
@DealerofHappiness
@DealerofHappiness 3 ай бұрын
@@ChinmayHshort answer is no. It lets you make the screen “bigger” but visible size of it is identical. Imagine sitting 5 inches away from computer screen… screen would seem “larger” but the amount you can actually see is the same. So beam lets you “zoom in” and make screen bigger but you cannot see it all at once, you have to turn your head, which is silly.

I find it fascinating how you left out the fact that the viewing angle in the version 2 is much smaller than the version 1. Its obvious as soon as you wear them. You know this and you conveniently left it out. There are so many people complaining about this on amazon reviews. The viewing angle on the v2 is a major downgrade from the v1.

I have no idea what are you referring to. On paper their viewing angle is the same and I cannot see any difference either. Maybe some particular devices have this issue. I use these glasses every day and still have both 🤷🏻‍♂️

@@DealerofHappiness the viewing lenses are literally smaller. Compare the two side by side and see for yourself. This is affecting many people who bought them.

@@DealerofHappiness ok thats a fair response. It is such a drastic difference. Maybe because some people have their eyes aligned perfectly for the viewing angle of the new glasses. The v1 was more universal when it comes to the viewing angle, it was definitely a bigger viewing angle.
