From the UK and can confirm Colleen is absolutely right, air con does not come as standard. Loads of cars do not have it. She is also right that we only get one hot week a year 😂😂😂. Also, Pebbles is the daughter of Fred and Wilma Flintstone and Bam Bam was Barney and Betty’s son 😊

German who lived 5 years in the UK: I have observed that sometimes, mostly people of Indian or Pakistani descent, don’t even turn the AC in their car on, even if they have one available, and sit in very warm damp cars with fogged up windows. Don’t know if that’s a cultural thing or just a personal preference, just something that I noticed a lot! ☺️

Fred Flintstone and Wilma have a little red-haired baby girl named "Pebbles," hence the link to the cereal. Barney and Betty Rubble are their neighbors/friends, and have a little boy named "Bam Bam."

When I was around 3-4 years old, my dad’s brother married my aunt. She was babysitting me for the first time and I, for some reason, decided to tell her that I was adopted (definitely not adopted). She gently argued with me and said “no, there’s no way you’re adopted, you look just like your big sister”. But I confidently argued back and said “that’s because we have the same parents, we were both adopted. Our parents live in California (I lived in Texas)” she was so irritated that her husband (my dad’s brother) had never told her that we were adopted. When he got home from work she confronted him and demanded answers. He told her that there was no way we were adopted because he saw my mom pregnant and came to see us at the hospital. It took a while to convince her that I was full of it. She still to this day teases me about it and I’m still waiting to meet my California parents. 😆

I’m also a horrible liar. I remember answering the phone in a really bad mood and the person on the other end was calling me for a job interview. I said that I wasn’t there and “took a message.” I called back later and tried to sound very upbeat. I got the job but always wondered if the lady knew it was me all along.

A sweet memory about top/flat sheets. When I was young we didn’t have a lot of money (I mean I still don’t lol), but my parents would save the flat sheets to repurpose into a gifts. They would use an old tattered ugly twin size blanket as the middle then recover it with a regular flat sheet on bottom & a fun fabric print on top. My blanket was Minnie Mouse fabric with a pink sheet that I still use today (I’m 45) , my brother got Looney Tunes with blue sheet, older sister got carousels with a turquoise sheet 🎠, younger sister got Oscar the Grouch (her fave Sesame Street character) with a green sheet. We all loved them so much! They’ve held up amazingly over many decades. Hope I explained that well enough haha We lost both our parents 100 days apart in 2022. Those blankets along with all the other amazing memories are so much more precious to us now 🩵 Sorry for the length, but since they asked if anyone actually used the top/flat sheets I figured my core memory applied.

I work with a guy that’s maybe been there 6 months and he does this all the time even when he was brand new. We would be talking about something that happened in the past and he would go “oh yeah I remember that” or “yeah wasn’t that crazy” When he clearly didn’t work there when it happened. But he would say it with such confidence

The Flintstones Answer for you. They were the first ever cartoon sitcom with a laugh track before streaming. This took place during a point in time where everyone watched the same shows on air for many years around the world on cable or antenna hints to its long lasting popularity Eric. That's why it's so firm standing. There weren't many alternatives at the time. So everyone ended up watching the same cartoon. So our parents and grandparents all watched it. It's iconic and their beloved daughter Pebbles Flintstone was popular as it was their first baby. That's why the cereal is called fruity and cocoa pebbles.

I was in my '30s when I finally found out that they make deep pocket fitted sheets. They actually will go around your mattress with the mattress pad on and stay in place. They also have these little suspender like looking clasps that you can attach to the ends of your fitted sheet to help keep it in place. Both those have been a game changer for my bed making. Sending love from Los Angeles 💜💛

You’re right in England a lot of older cars don’t have air con as standard. Just like a fan that you can turn cooler and warmer. But not proper air conditioning. And same with a lot of indoor spaces. Air con is not that typical. It’s not hot a lot here.

ALSO! While not as dramatic as yours, I had the same exact thing. A cop pulled me over for going through a stop sign in a parking lot and there absolutely no people around. But apparently he was parked right next to me and I didn't see him. He pulled me over and said that I went through a stop sign, slowly, but still. And I'm like I'm so sorry I didn't see it I'm here to get brunch with my friends. And then he's like you sure? Because if you didn't see it I would have to write you a ticket and send you to driving school. I paused and looked at him and he very slowly shook his head and I'm like... Uhhh....... I mean.... I did see it, but yeah... I'm sorry. And he's like okay so you did see it but when through it slowly? And I said yeah.. I'm sorry. And he said it's okay, see what happens when you tell you truth. I'll let you off with a warning. Keep an eye out for stop signs and I'm like okay thank you so much! And drove away confused like he just told me to lie lol 😅😅

I once the entire train system to stop all trains from coast to coast due to having being seen carry a dead body down the road then tying it to the real road tracks waiting for a train to obliterate it 😮 The police showed up to investigate interviewing each us individually then had to go to our parents to explain what we’d been caught doing & that we may be charged. However, it was a life size dummy that we had tied to the tracks while pranking my older sister saying we had taken her friend for ransom! We made an entire ransom video tape (it was the early 90’s lol). We got a stern talking to by the police, a train representative, & our parents. We promised we learned our lesson & that we’d never do it again so no charges were ever filed. People always think I’m making that up as my lie 😂

I'm 62 years old, and I remember the Flintstones. I loved that show! Fred Flintstone was the dad, Wilma was his wife and Pebbles was their little girl. Their best friends were Barney Rubble, and his wife Betty Rubble, and their little son named Bam Bam. Pepples was so cute. That is where the name of the cereal came from. Barney was a little short, thick guy with blonde hair. Betty had dark hair with a tiny tiny waistline, as did Wilma. Wilma had red hair. Both ladies wore necklaces made from stones. Their "dog" was named Dino, he was a Snorkasaurus. Everything in their culture was of the stone age, yet it was modern society. Their couch was carved out of solid stone.

Erik... even though I have not had the pleasure of traveling to the UK, I've heard that it is very common that they don't have AC in their cars because it just does not get that hot. I guess they ride around with the windows down? I know they don't usually have AC in their homes. As far as heaters, I am pretty sure they have those because it does get very cold... it seems to stay cold and rainy in the UK. About the sheets... you have to make sure that you are putting them on right.. I do it wrong all the time and it bugs my husband who has sold mattresses for his entire life. It also helps if you get oversized sheets that fit better on the thicker mattresses.
