So great. My buddies and I practice this exact drill over and over. Cover, plunge in with spike elbow, then it’s game on. Knives are scary AF though. Our instructor says, “Inside is the hardest place to get to, and the safest place to be.” It’s true! Thx for the great lessons! The best.

Hey How are you? Hope you are doing good 👍. I just have a video request. Can you please make a video on blocking punches especially the straight punch? A punch that comes straight directly to your nose or mouth and followed by another which most times is a hook. And how to block these type of punches in a street fight? Because blocking punches when the aggressor is throwing non stop intensely is hard. So would you mind covering this in your upcoming video. Thanks.

Absolutely amazing video. This guy is a freight train. I really love how affective his lessons are. Back in the day I spent years of learning Shotokan and all we did was these compulsory techniques and katas that led me basically nowhere coz nothing ever happening in real life can be solved with a kata. My friend was doing judo and they were already beating the sh*t out of each other in competitions…

Even Joe rogan need to do stuff like judo and kickboxing if you want to do something more effective in fight situations Or stuff like urban combative. I've taken taekwondo for 5 years and even my teacher said half the kicks we learn for curriculum you're not going to do in a real sparring match or fight. Unless he's really dazed then go ahead and attempt a Crescent kick but not recommended lol

i dont know if a video of this has already been created but a video on how to defend one's self if one has at least one hand occupied with something (and therefore not necessarily able to help in self-defense (say for example holding onto groceries bags, dog on leash, one or more kids and/or their school bag(s) and so on and so forth), what/how can you defend you and more importantly a potential loved one, be it a gf/wife/kid/ dog etc when one hand may not be able to do much, at least initially or at all, if youre walking the dog around the block you dont want to let go of the leash, it runs off gets hit by a car etc, same with a kid aged 3-9 years old. Groceries bag(s) you can let go of, or maybe even launch at a potential attacker but initially if/when you get attacked you'll be holding on to them and if its a surprise attack you may not have time to let go of them before the 1st punch hits you. a video on this would be highly appreciated.

When he was attacking with the right hand and you grabbed him, your belly was wide open and his left hand was not being used. What if when you blocked his right hand punch and went to knee him but before that he either punched you in the stomach or used his left hand elbow to block your knee. Also in case of a full blown street fight if I'm surrounded by 10-15 guys all attacking me at the same time, what is most effective way to protect myself and fight them at the same time with force enough to knockout some of them on the first hit so that the numbers lessen ??

What if you cannot run because you have someone with you that is not capable? What if you have an injury? People like you should say thank you for the free content. Instead of bashing it. Very nice Video-and what is obvious is the fact , that serious self defense combines defense and attack in one movement. I‘ve seen it here, UCC Hamburg has attack and defense in one move and even Wing Chun tries to attack and defend with one move, chain punches. Great work here, good explanations and also psychological things get mentioned-something very important, for every fighter! How many guys can fight in their dojo, but are paralized on the street by their fear!

Ohhh maan with all respect... It seems you've never seen the real knife fight. It's so insane to see how you're trying all your best to be stubbed closing the distance when the guy stubs. Using such technique you'll be dead in 9 of 10 cases or even worse. You don't have 9 lives, do you? First, if you can run away, do it! It's the only right way to deal agains a knife with bare hands. Or try to find a stick or something. But this... naaahh

Situational awareness or presense of mind, quick physical reactions or reflexes, mental strength or toughness, composure or self-confidence, resourcefulness, the instinct or the will to fight back and defend yourself, knowing when to fight back or when to just run away as fast as you can, avoiding people places and situations that potentially lead to heated altercations or violent encounters, and your martial arts/fighting/self-defense skills and techniques (if you have any or some) which you have spent long periods of time practicing and training, can drastically increase your chances of successfully defending yourself in street fights and surviving other similar violent self-defense encounters. Speaking based on my personal experience as a self-defense practitioner.

I have watched several "knife defense" videos. Only one, not this one, stated the true fact. If you are fighting with barehands and the attacker has a knife you are going to get cut. A Filipino knife debunked all these "knife defenses" in a KZbin video.
@schoolofselfprotection
@schoolofselfprotection 11 ай бұрын
Nothing to be debunked here. The context was well explained. You just roll over and wait until it’s over? This is workable when done in a good way. I start every knife training with: no method is fool proof and you will get cut! Running is alway the first. If that’s not possible you take an equalizer. If you still get caught this is a last resort thing to do.
@drb5538
@drb5538 6 ай бұрын
The truth needs to be told. If you are unarmed and attacked with a knife in a situation you can't run away, some training is better none but you're going to get messed up regardless of how well trained you are. There was a good demo of this when there was several highly trained fighters who had to last just 20 seconds against someone welding a simulated knife which was a marker. Needless to say none of them walked away without multiple marks indicating they had all been stabbed multiple times.

Good techniques. But I think, against a knife attack, best defense is to be aware to avoid to come to that situation, or running fast, Iast option fighting... IMHO, It's very difficult to deal with a knife attack in real life, at least, you would be a strong and very well trained professional like this guy, and you have real experience/practice dealing with knife attack situations. Usually, attackers are more than one. Running is the best option for regular people or people with only gym theoretical training...

All good and the trainer is serious, however I disagree about the knife defense. That guard works with all attacks but with knife, that’s a drill I can see it myself but the knife attack does not come “announced” and with single hit, it comes furious and with multiple and most probably in the lower part of the body. The best defense with a knife is runaway or give the wallet.
@schoolofselfprotection
@schoolofselfprotection Жыл бұрын
Of course you should run! And give everything! That context I always give the students! Also in this video I wrote this in the bottom. That’s the context. But escape is not always possible! Because of: simply no time. Because of injury. Because of blocked exit routes, because of you having someone with you that is not capable to run (elderly person or child). In the video you see the absolute worst case scenario. A last resort thing. Out of an act of sheer desperation.

Hello, sir! I already asked you about Kalah once... What do you think about controlling armed arm with both of your arms (like hugging it, with putting your body weight into it), instead of reaching for shirt with one of your hands? Abolnik says that one arm control is too little, especially if agressor is very strong, sweaty etc. Thanks!

I like this channel very much sir .The Dutch have a unique fighting style that is endemic to the Netherlands only , I guess . Bob Schrieber and Tommy End are all time favourites who got me hooked on to Dutch Fighting Style .Love from India 🙏

Coach Tim .. I'm a Japanese Jiu Jitsu Nidan, Japanese Jiu Jitsu is far superior in street defence as it has all the ingredients you mentioned.. as for your main point I totally agree ..it doesn't matter what your style is, don't think an opponent on the street will follow your rules or will show respect and decency, most martial artists will start with the advantage of being trained and being used to conflict but can quickly lose these advantages against a street brawler if you fight by the rules or try to work into your favourite moves. Respect to you, great content.

Question sir. What about the left hand. I love the block and quick move inside. On the street where weapons are used. How would you check the left hand against a knife or other weapen. I would suggest as soon as you move in wrap the the neck or head and twist the attacker to your left so his left hand gets twisted away from you.

The same principle stands. If you knee hard enough you take his balance. I would always try to grab the weapon bearing limb but that is simply not available all the time.

I was never confident in my knees, even while watching your other videos. Kind of like "well, if he says it, I'm going to do it" and not really understanding beyond that. I see now that the knee to the groin isn't just about lifting up your enemy, it's also about pushing them back to remove their footing when they try to land. Excellent instruction.

Excellent. Street fighting is not pretty but has to be quick and decisive. No second chance.
