Hello Mr Maman. Thank you for the excellent video. I do have a few additional questions that I'd like to ask: 1) How likely is it for both combatants to end up on the ground after the defender had gained control? I imagine this might happen if the assailant is much stronger than the defender? If the battle did end up on the ground, what should we do? 2) How do we deal with the possibility of the defender deploying a second weapon before the defender manages to neutralize the assailant? The assailant could pull out a second knife before the defender could land a debilitating combative on him. How do we adapt to such a scenario? 3) How do we handle a huge gap in terms of strength? For instance, in the case where the assailant is much bigger and stronger than the defender. If the assailant is much stronger than the defender, could he still jerk or push the defender around using the strength of his body? If yes, it would be quite scary for the defender because the assailant's strength might cause the defender to lose balance or footing (combatives then become essentially useless because the defender can't throw good knees when he is being pulled or jerked around). How do we deal with this situation? Thank you in advance.

....after watching this video,two things come to mind..either you are a VERY GOOD defender against knives in which case..more power to you OR....you do not have a clue how you would fare if attacked with a knife.If the latter applies...at least you no know what you are incapale of defending so ....you either figure out how to learn how to flee ,disappear or fight.But you will not approach a pending knife attack with no mind

Earlier criticism of deflection, block with simultaneous counter and kicks was that they didn't consider a realistic attack. But going in for a wrap dosent consider them either with the attack recoil (combined with the initial deflection) making the wrap problematic and the fact the technique is intentionally closing the distance into stabbing range having started from outside that range as demonstrated by the initial kick.
@josephmoore977
@josephmoore977 Жыл бұрын
That's true. However, if the attackers intent is to kill you, you may have to get within that range to neutralize the threat. Unless your extremely proficient at kicking, that may not be initially enough to stop the threat. Running away from someone who wants to kill you just means you're giving them a greater opportunity to inflict serious harm & you're taking away your ability to engage. When the opportunity arises to run, seize it, but only after you have reset the assailant & know that the timing is correct. All of this takes practice & real life application to become the most efficient.

Dear Mr. Maman, this is actually the same thing that an instructor named Jim Wagner teaches. Getting a proper hold and establishing control over the arm rather than the weapon before you can attack and disarm.

You should smack yourself and your mama for even mentioning Jim Wagner. Look up Wagners "military" training, compare to Manan.

very interesting, but how to prevent the attacker from taking the knife into the other hand?
@harrye.512
@harrye.512 Жыл бұрын
Should have one hand on the wrist and other wrapping the hand. A control like this dosent allow for it. If you are wrapping need to keep the arms away from each other
@TonyqTNT
@TonyqTNT Жыл бұрын
If you can manage to seize the knife attacker's 🔪 knife weilding wrist with two hands you can effectively control his knife weilding arm by immediately dropping to one knee and he won't be able to resist the leverage force applied to his wrist, hopefully!!!

Now these attacks may work against a meek attacker like this guy who really means you no harm just wants your wallet or something, but against someone who intends to kill you, you would be dead. Also people don't usually pull knives on each other they pull guns, even on the battlefield the likelihood of having some kind of knife fight with an attacker is very low and actually kind of absurd anymore. Usually if you're going to stab someone you're not going to do it to their face either, take prison for instance LOL
@chrisjackson9626

Depends where you live, in the UK there's lots of knife crime due to the fact gun laws are stricter. Attackers often do start in front of you, usually to intimidate or to rob you, but then it often escalates. If someone sneaks up behind you and stabs you, well there's too much anyone can do, shit happens.
