“Angers motivates us to demand better for ourselves or for others” this!! Such a helpful video! I related it to dealing with anger towards my MIL... anger towards my in-laws has definitely put a strain on my relationship, so trying to work through it now in a non-destructive, healthy way. If you brought out a video on dealing with difficult in-laws I would definitely be first in line for that 😂

So happy to hear it was helpful for you! Ohhh yes, difficult in-law relationships can put a HUGE strain on relationships. I HEAR you. This is definitely something I will plan to cover! Thanks for the suggestion ❤️😊

Actually I prefer to be angry more than sad, it helps me to move on easier. When I stay in sadness I feel like a victim & trying to figure out Why??
@AshleyNord
@AshleyNord 3 жыл бұрын
This is actually something I have talked about in other videos! This experience is very common. Anger is often a much easier emotion to feel because it’s less vulnerable and raw. We don’t really have to access our underlying hurt, pain, grief or whatever else we may be feeling when it’s concealed by anger. Anger is a really important emotion, but in order to heal it, we do need to eventually access that inner sadness and hurt and heal it from the root. Being sad doesn’t mean you have to be a victim, but it does mean that your hurt needs to be truly acknowledged, sat with, and felt ❤️

For me, feeling sad will make me feel too vulnerable and then I get too forgiving and soft and don’t respect my own boundaries. I begin longing instead of focusing on myself. Sadness and pain sometimes are different for me in a sense. If I can focus on myself hurting rather than being sad that I lost someone in my life, then I don’t yearn for the other person as deeply and can control my separation anxiety. So “I am feeling hurt and pain” is easier for me to take care of and have compassion for than “ I am sad because I miss him”.

Anger is a sign of protecting ourselves feeling disrespected Sustained anger is not healthy. Keeps us agitated. Guilt. Trust issues with future relationships. Underneath loyalty, love. But anger pushes away. Does my anger give me what i want. Does my anger teaches the other? Disgust, heat tightness, Dont suppress anger Rain method - recognize, investigate (denied respect), nurture

That’s so awful. I’m sorry. Betrayal trauma is real and it is so wrong to do to a person. I hope you’re feeling better. I learned that grieving a relationship is part of losing a piece of your identity- and that’s why it hurts so bad. The shock of cheating makes it ten times worse.

Thank you for these videos. They've taught me so much more especially after experiencing certain emotions and challenges for the first time in my life when I got into a real serious relationship. It was beautiful to see that I wasn't alone through those struggles and these videos were honestly eye-openers for me. Highly appreciated

This is such a relatable topic for me, even years after I still deal with this. Ash, have you done any videos on the topic of dreaming about an ex? I had another dream about my ex last night, and I woke up from it and was like WTF. She continues to haunt me not only in my conscious, but sub-conscious mind as well.
@AshleyNord
@AshleyNord 3 жыл бұрын
So happy it was relatable for you! I think this is something many of us struggle with. I haven’t done any videos on dreams as yet! But certainly something I would consider covering 😊 in my experience, dreaming about exes is extremely common! Even decades after a split.

I've been broken up with my ex of eleven years for seven months now and I'm still processing how to feel about it. Anger has been coming up more and more, especially when mutual friends started asking about future events of which we might both attend. (Co-ed baby showers, weddings, etc) and I caught myself wondering, "How the hell would I feel if he walked through the door right now? How would I respond if he tried talking to me?" I'd like to think I'll be classy but I'd be lying if I said I don't feel a little Jerry Springer about it all from time to time. Especially if he brings along his new fiance, a girl that he "definitely wasn't cheating on me with." Don't worry, I won't really throw any chairs or make a scene. I don't want to ruin someone's day of celebration because of my hurt feelings. I do ask myself, while I'm googling how to use Bumble and experiencing what it's like to be ghosted by guys (that was another video of yours that helped me, btw), if my anger isn't stemming from simple jealousy or envy. He's engaged again and I'm... I don't know what I'm doing. Anyway, I'm rambling. Thank you again for the video and for being you. :)
@AshleyNord
@AshleyNord 3 жыл бұрын
“A little Jerry Springer” LOL, I love that 🤣 But I totally hear you, of course you will have some type of emotional response. I think that’s very expected and normal. Especially if you’re forced to face him with someone else! I think going in with the expectation that it WILL hurt and be hard to see, but trusting that you will be able to take care of and nurture those emotions after the event, is important! ❤️ you got this!

The worst part right now is that I can't really let go because I have to face him again in a few months in court when we'll get divorced. Almost every day my mind is spinning around what I want to tell him, how he hurt and betrayed me, even after the break up, and I know that I won't say much to him anyway (maybe besides a 'I hope someone will do to you what you did to me'). But those bad feelings hinder my productivity, but I can't let go. Stupid head of mine argh...

I’m so sorry to hear that you’re stuck in limbo right now. However, it’s totally okay that you’re not in a place where you’re able/ready to let go! If that’s where you are, I think giving yourself permission to be there is a good place to start. Bad feelings are allowed to be here too ❤️

Thank you Ash..honestly this topic really hit a chord with me. For the longest time I kept on suppressing my anger because I kept blaming myself for the situation. It's only now that I'm slowly allowing myself to feel the anger with out judging myself. Thanks for mentioning 'RAIN' I'm going to look into this more. 👍Also Hope you are well ❤🙂

I resonate with what you’re saying so much! I was definitely someone who thought the answer to my anger was to simply stuff it away and not acknowledge it too. I’m so happy to hear you’re allowing those feelings to be held without judgment! Learning how to do this is so important ❤️

I hate my ex-husband so much! We were together for 41 years and he just abandoned me for his bosses daughter. I was even divorced over Skype. I was never allowed closure. He blocked me and it has been 2 1/2 years. I never received any call from his family and I was just left.

Ive just realized, id rather be angry and hate my ex husband than forgiving and moving past his horrible treatment toward me. Its protected me from other horrible men to not repeat the cycle. I thought listening would make me realize otherwise but my answers to ur questions came to be, im good with the anger toward him. I just need to control the mental rage i feel after it that takes over.

My ex stood me up for the third time after me stressing to him so many times how I wouldn't tolerate it again. Then when he did it again, he gaslit me and was defensive as if I was the bad guy. No accountability. No apology. Not sure how I'm supposed to stop being angry

Hmmm. This video really makes me think. I am very angry about my ex, and I’m trying to find someone else right now. But I feel like my anger does help fuel me. I really become more productive in all aspects of my life when I’m angry. Maybe it’s just because I’m a fire sign. Lol. But I definitely like being angry rather than depressed. And my anger has been pushing me to have higher standards towards the next person because I am so angry my needs weren’t met by how irresponsible of an adult my ex was. I have been getting feedback from men that they can see I have my guard up. But also, to me that just means they need to try harder. Put in more effort and the walls will come down. I’m tired of seeing minimum effort and then expecting maximum results.
@AshleyNord

I hear you! I’m similar to you - I feel that my anger has helped fuel me throughout different times in my life as well. Especially when I was a child, it truly protected me and served me in so many ways. As I said in this video, it definitely motivates us to demand better for ourselves. However, prolonged anger can definitely have negative, toxic and addicting effects. I think learning how to be motivated by emotions other than anger is important ❤️

Thank you for your video. My situation is slightly different in that I caused the breakup but we stayed friends although I still had strong feelings for her. However, I found out that she's been seeing somebody else, which she's every right to move on and do so. But, I can't stop feeling angry at her for doing so. I'm guessing it's my ego that's been battered but it's hard to reconcile this. Is my anger really aimed at me for messing up, or at her for finding 'someone better' whilst I'm still single?
