Sometimes the thought of not being good enough or getting it right can be paralyzing. But at the end of the day, the worst thing that can really happen is never completing the project! Love and look forward to your vids Kristen!

Thank you for opening up about this! I always panic when I can’t write or something I write isn’t good because I have this overwhelming need to prove myself to the people around me.

These coping tips are fantastic. I’m literally gonna make a huge print to hang over my desk that says: “what is the worst thing that can happen?”

How do you only have 25k subs? You are by the far the best and most helpful KZbin in the writing community.

I never would have linked excitement with anxiety. That's really interesting.

I like the way you differentiate between excited and anxious. It reminds me of the bit in The Parent Trap when she says "Anxious, excited? Or anxious, nervous- like he's totally dreading it?"

This was super helpful! I was going to do a real talk video about anxiety/depression for next month. I'm going to try going through that worst case scenario thing because a lot of those fears are all in your head or not a big deal. Thanks for the help!

Great video! I've been dealing with my anxiety disorder for a good part of my life and I have been looking for new ways on dealing with it a little more easier. Writing has always been a big help and I'll be taking a couple of ideas from this video with me in the future!

I have never gotten anxiety from writing. However, I have decided to try and self publish myself (not with a vanity publisher or the such) and this has become something that is definitely feeling overwhelming, trying to promote, research, and organize my writing into a business! I often feel like I just want to quit because I don't really know where to start!!!!

Yes, the worse thing that can happen is that you never finish the book. There are times when you have to do a lot of edits and scrap entire scenes. But at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that you keep writing and finish it. So true. Thanks, Kristen.

I don't get anxiety whilst writing (I have GAD) but I've recently started my Facebook page to help promote my debut novel which I hope will be released early next year, and I feel extremely anxious about who will see it. And I've only published one little teaser picture! So that's made me more anxious because I just wonder how I'm going to feel when it publish day =/

I remember how frustaded I used to be when I first started on my book project. I was used to write short stories and I have lost count how many times I have rewrote my story. But right now I feel that I finally are getting somewhere and are not rushing like I did in the start. I also notice that it helps to listen to meditation music if I get really stock

I think I don't have anxiety...but when ever I write. I feel like I can't write down a thing...what if people don't like what I write? What if it's cringey, or bad? I think that to my self everytime. I would write for hours but then throw it away and start over... it's just so much..but I feel inspired reading other people books, or playing a video game or watching a movie to feel excited to write but then again stop writing after a couple of hours....

Anxiety is so hard to deal with sometimes. I usually try watching Authortube to kickstart my confidence again, and or I try to do something else that calms me, such as yoga.

that's good advice, i need to break out of my current mood or ill never get my book done!

Doctor Stupid Haha I get that! It’s so hard sometimes that all you can do is force yourself to write.

that's true, i just have been so unmotivated... its like i dont see a point to writing, nor do i feel like it

I think everyone gets that way. As writers I'm pretty sure we all are prone to getting some kind of depression whenever it comes to the thought of writing. You have to find what works for you. For me, I need a routine. Not just something for writing, but with my whole life. Otherwise, I find myself doing nothing. Maybe try out different things until you figure out what helps you.

I want to do a channel about anxiety and depression. I've been dealing with both lately, and I want to make a channel to encourage others not to give up on writing even though they may feel anxious or depressed.
