Welcome back, Kristen! Wonderful comeback! For me, it's actually the other way around. Since I graduated, I haven't had a job, and thus have had a lot of time to write. It's not necessary for me to schedule writing sessions in order to spend time writing (or planning my works). However, I am very passionate about my current project, so it's hard for me to do other things and relax... My "relaxation" from writing, often involves going to KZbin to check out writing videos. I have decided to work on being able to relax by doing the kinds of things Kristen mentions at the end: reading books, watching TV, and playing video games. It's essential that I have some way of relaxing, so that I do not get exhausted from writing, and do not get depressed from not having other activities I enjoy.

I have been playing around with what helps me right now with planning in general. So right now I am using a bullet journal, a planner and google calendar. But I do like it that you can send yourself reminders with google calendar when you have something planned.

GRADITUDE for prioritizing your self & taking some mindfulness time away. You where missed, but the upside to being so prolific: those of us new to your content have a daunting backlog of material to discover. I'm geeked for the tsunami of material to be revealed in this new series. "Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished" -Lao Tzu

I do love the series. Definitely can't wait to see more. A major habit of mines is going straight to the library right after work. If I go home I will just drop in bed or go talking to the people in my house. In my head I'll keep saying in an hour... then BAM it's bedtime. Going to the library energize me like my body don't get sleepy and my brain is up!

Welcome back! This series couldn't have come at a better time. I will be leaving my job early November (long story) and since my husband makes enough to pay all the bills, I'm starting on my journey towards being a full-time author. I've been heading toward and preparing for that path for the past couple of years, but it will all start coming to fruition in November. Woo hoo! I'm so excited about this series and everything I can learn from it. Congrats and good luck!

A set schedule definitely helps with writing more words. I started practicing this in the middle of July, to knock out my January release project and it's helped me tremendously. I'll be amping up my planning and schedule structure, and will be taking your tips along the way.

Loving this series! Can't wait to see more and hear more about the new course! I didn't win camp NaNo this year because I figured that since this particular book deals with some really dark themes, it was in my best interest to spread it out over three months to not put my own mental health at risk. :)

i have two girls with one of them being autistic which only adds to the fun of being a parent but I will definitely be trying to implement your tips to help make my writing more productively and hopefully while trying to increase my word production in a night, continue to do this as a regular since I'm diving into this career of authorship devotedly, just been kind of stuff with summer vacation and had struggled to find away to keep time escaping me, lol. Thanks a lot.

I’m definitely going to set reminder notifications for writing time. I’ve been trying out a physical planner (Passion Planner), but I so need an actual ding to tell me to get moving. Thanks so much for sharing these tips, and looking forward to more! My additional habit: Using the Forest App to get myself off my phone. I eventually want to do group things with the app, too~ :D

I love this idea. I do have a question though. What tips do you have for someone who has a really inconsistent work schedule? My schedule fluctuates all throughout the week. Some days I work as early as 4am and others as late as midnight, as well as everywhere in between. So my writing time is really inconsistent. Any suggestions?

Great video! I already have a dedicated slot of time for my writing -- when the rest of my family goes to bed! But this is still a really good piece of advice for any beginning writer. It took me a long time to understand that if I want to be consistently productive, I had to write consistently! My question for you is when do you find time to do the other parts for self-publishing? I spent most of 2017 writing and now in 2018, I have been swamped with editing, formatting for publishing and then promoting/marketing. It is kind of upsetting that I am not able to write for the most part. How do you do it??? Do you write, edit and market all the time or do you go through waves? Thanks for any assistance and know that you have been a big-time inspiration to me these last two years.

I always think it would be great to reward myself with reading after my writing sessions. But by the end of the day I never feel like I've done enough to 'deserve' it! Also... I love to binge a whole book in one go. I'm not sure I could do a chapter or two at a time!

The thing I struggle to pull myself away from at writing time is work (I run a videography business during the day). I don't think that would make much of a reward system for me, haha! After you've done this writing you get to do more work 😂 It's a good idea, though! Perhaps I should get back into playing the Sims! Although then I may never write again...

Hi, love your books. What do you recommend in terms of having someone edit the book before submitting a manuscript? Do I need to send it to a separate editor first?
