You have every right to set boundaries. Clearly you are a kind person for not wanting to create a scene in public and for showing empathy and compassion to this woman's husband. You are not responsible for her disrespectful behavior and neither is her husband. He is an adult and can choose to walk away. You have every right to assert yourself when someone is messing with your dog. Your dog is your responsibility.

I feel you. I’m still fuming over something that happened a few days ago!! I brought my 1 year old pup to a dock for the first time, it was a totally new experience for him and he was a little nervous about the waves. Especially hearing/seeing them through the little gaps in the wood. But then he noticed the birds and the boats, after that only big waves made him squidge out a little. It was going really well, honestly. He’s a good boy. But then this lady came over after a particularly big, loud wave and started lecturing me that I was giving him PTSD. I said something like “he needs to experience new things and know it’ll be okay” when she started GRABBING his neck ruff and snout and PULLING ON HIM. Saying she’s “stress testing” him. When I say I saw red. I’m very far from a violent person, but I had to pick my dog up so my hands would be full before I walked away. I couldn’t even speak I was so furious. I’m still getting extremely angry just thinking about it. And I’m upset with myself for not doing more in the moment to defend my dog. Even if it was probably for the best to just get him away from her. I guess I’ll be happy with the fact that I’m home with my dog, rather than being in jail facing assault charges. But I do want to cry when I remember how he went up to greet her like “oh hey, a new friend in this strange place” only to have her manhandle him like that. He was so confused :( Good thing he’s over it, even if I don’t think I ever will be.

If you're talking nowadays.. probably?? Because there's still some cast iron that you can buy that are not seasoned those ones are usually expensive and you know they're real because there's a lot of preseason so-called cast irons that are not real cast iron so I don't always trust the preseason. the ones I usually buy are Real cast irons and a lot of them don't come pre-seasoned been around cast iron my whole life. I just bought some cast iron medium size and small size and I was thinking that people talked about they are preseason now, so I thought cool... but when I got them and realized these are not preseason I had to season them before using them.

I went and got a yam stick and an elk antler and put it in a zip lock bag and came back and put it on his cart. Always listen to the dog’s owner. People always ask if they can give my dog a treat and I say thank you but she’s allergic to most things so I have her on a strict diet. So far everyone has been respectful, although I admit that I haven’t been to WY yet.

I've always thought it's because of the mountains? safe and happy travels 💕 oh you just need some olive oil for the cast iron. you know you don't put a thick coating on just rub it in really well to the inside and the outside and the handle. you can definitely use regular soap to clean. my mom never baked her cast iron. it was her mom's my mom was born in 1914 I still have it to this day. it has never been baked with the olive oil I just put olive oil on it now and then to recondition it but I do not bake it. it's really NO big production.

When you first bought it and showed it, it looked seasoned. It should have a light coat of oil. Some folks never do a “deep” clean on their cast iron. Just wipe it out and cook. They say it makes better flavored foods. “Dutch Ovens” are the same way. You should look into one of them as well. They are a GREAT addition to easy cooking!!!

they don't need special care, just heat it up nice and hot, put any oil you have in it, and it will soak in " seasoned " I was a cook . and we had to scrub stuff all the time because it gets burnt, then you just re oil it, all sauce pans work good with a little seasoning also if you have to scrub them often, metal is sticky, cast iron very porous and sticky just needs oil soaked in, and detergents break up oil. you cant ruin it. like all things there is a new school over complicated version of everything, but... its cast iron, you can season it on a campfire or stove just fine as has been done for hundreds of years, " keep it simple ".

Hello! Just a tip, with cast iron just make sure that after using it is completely dry. I wash mine with soap but make sure it’s always dry when putting it away. I dry mine with heat and towels. I know that everyone says no soap but my brain won’t let me not use soap, lol. It takes a little longer to build the seasoning but mine has become pretty nonstick. Out of curiosity, what is the design on the bottom of your lodge pan?

When you're out camping, you don't need an oven. You can just set an oiled cast iron pan in a campfire or wrap it in aluminum foil if it's really oiled and just let it stay in the heat. Also, I salt the inside of the pan when I am seasoning it and letting it sit in the heat

Most cast iron does come pre-seasoned. It's OK, but doing like your brother said baking it will make it even better. Most people cook bacon in it the first couple of times so the grease cooks into it. The more you use it, the better it gets. Also, if you don't have one, make sure you have a handle cover because the handles get just as hot as the pan!!!

Quick and easy way to season cast iron is to coat it with cooking oil put it on high heat or over a fire and let it burn in and make sure you have an oven met for the heat and use a paper towel with your oil and lightly coat the pan again while warm and let it sit. Should have a nice sheen on it.

Cast Iron pan. You have a lodge pan. It is pre seasoned. Before cooking, heat it up with a teaspoon of oil and rub it in with a paper towel. That will help keep things from sticking. You should be able to clean the pan by just rinsing and drying with paper towel, filled by an oil rub to keep it protected. You only need to oil the inside of the pan and only enough to create a light film. If things get cooked on, soak until it can be scrubbed off with a brush. If absolutely needed, 1 drop of dish soap, scrub lightly, rinse thoroughly and recoat with oil.

Best way to season cast iron is to cook a lot of bacon in it but that may not be your thing. You’ll need some oil to rub into it in between uses. If it’s really nasty you can wash it with soap and water but keep the soap use to a minimum. Usually just water or wiping it out then a light coat of oil is all you need. When we got a new one Hubby got flax oil, gave it a good coat and put it in the oven for several hours. You can use olive oil though. You might be able to substitute an evening on a campfire for the oven baking.

Your brother is correct. Seasoning a cast iron is not difficult but should be done. I have a cast iron that is maybe half the size of yours and I love it! Don't bake it with High Heat!! It will burn the seasoning off. "LOW And Slow" 250f to 325f for 3-4 hours, you will have to keep up on it until it's nice and setup the longer you turn it the better try seasoning, it's really old school technology that last forever and be careful with acidic foods until the seasoning is thick enough.

She was staying with me at the behest of my visiting Kiwi friend, ostensibly for a "long weekend" that extended into two weeks of hell. She never did reimburse me for gas, and told me to 'pound sand' when I told her I needed the money she promised. She's dead now, from pancreatic cancer.

Don't worry about the cast iron, that looks like a pre-seasoned one, most new/modern ones are. Just use it! To clean simply wipe out with a rag or paper towel if the food isn't stuck on. If the food is stuck on use water and a scraper of some sort. Avoid soap unless it absolutely needs it, but it rarely does. Make sure it's fully dried and apply a light coating of oil to the inside of the pan before putting it away. Antique cast iron pans are the only thing I've cooked with for many years :D

I’d have been so pissed too! I’d have been hard pressed not to say something ugly. Eating people food will upset my pups stomach and have her throwing up all night if not triggering an attack that leads me to having to take her to the vet for blood in her stool. I used to have issues with people coming up to my dog and petting her without permission. It makes her very uncomfortable having strangers putting their hands on her so now if they come close and even look like they might touch her I tell them she bites.

She’s now 9 and I still have to explain to people that she encounters that yes she’s very friendly BUT she will not cope if your young child does something like pull on her hair/ear or puts their face too close to hers etc. it took many years for her to just be comfortable around my horses and following me through the paddock. She does not play with other dogs either, EVER. So she’s essentially a hermit just like me 😂😂😂

OMG I would have been mad too! I did have a similar experience once, many years ago with a new roommate. I moved myself and my dog and cat in with her, and a few days later, I came home from work to find my dog missing! My roommate was gone too, so I of course called her to see if she knew anything about that. She didn't answer her phone, so I was in a panic for about 30 minutes or so, wondering what the hell was going on. Eventually, she pulls up in her car with my dog in the back seat! I ask her why she took my dog and she said, "Oh, she seemed like she wanted some company and I had some errands to run, so I took her with me!" I was flabbergasted! I looked at her and said "Please, don't you ever touch my dog again without my permission! This is a huge boundary issue that you've just conjured up!" And all she could say was that she only thought my dog wanted the company. The nerve!

I’d have had to move out over that one. My dogs don’t get in the car without being restrained in a crash tested carrier.

When I got my first cast iron, I just threw in a bit of butter and then used it to cook. Then rinse with water and done. As long as ypu don't use soap, you will be fine!

I realize this is a year ago so you may have figured out mail. If not there are several mail services that you can use as a physical address if you want but you can have all packages and mail sent to them and they forward them on. Not sure how much UPS charges. I am a resident of South Dakota through their mailbox system. It's very handy.

After using your cast iron, remember that large amounts of soap can strip the seasoning off your pan, but you can re-season your pan with only another 3 hours in the oven...) So only use a small amount of soap to clean cast iron cookware (very small amt) Large amounts of soap can strip the seasoning off your pan, but you can easily re-season your pan as needed.

Cast iron seasoning is when you have a thin oil layer that builds up and has a chemical reaction to the heat and creates a non-stick surface. But it’s tricky to create and wash so you’ll need to learn how. But it’s worth it!

You can season it without an oven. Just a thin layer of oil, heat over fire until it burns, let it cool, apply another thin layer, heat over fire until it burns, let it cool. I do my wok this way as well as my cast iron pans.

I just used my cast iron like normal but I never made things like soup in it...and then a couple of times I accidentally washed it so it basically got ruined...i threw it out and I really don't want another one. I just used seasonings and left them on there but would rinse it whenever I made something I didn't want those particular seasonings on...usually it was about the same for everything I made.

Ahhh the starbucks story makes me so mad! I saw it on your instagram story the other day. I would still be mad days later too lol. I've had to get in many arguments over that type of thing and most of the main culprits are family members! Also being called "mean" for not just letting the dog eat anything and everything. On a happier note: congrats on 17k subs!

I think the fit looks good. She puts effort. I don't even think I would wear makeup if I was car camping/overlanding, or whatever it's called. Yay! I didn't know how to season a cast iron either She's so gentle with the dog commands I go to the same tire place. Love those guys!

I have tried and tried cast iron but I can never get that slick finish. And girl get a saucepan 😂😂 for soups and other stuff. They don't take up that much room. And I would have just bought a Teflon fry pan you just have to use nylon utensils or you will scratch. New subscriber still catching up on your videos. You are so sweet and funny and I love Blue!

To season, wash and dry well.then rub it inside all over with oil then bake in oven and do this 3 times…until you get to a place for your tires warranty buy flat fix at most any store or maybe gas stations..put the whole can in tire if you need more air get it but it fix’s the tire so you don’t have to keep filling with air..you really need this flat fix in your car at all times because your alone and if your tires low and your not near anywhere like your not it’ll pump up your tires till you find a station

Ha > This is the second time I've seen you and I have to admit. You are fun to watch. I'm looking to get me a 20' RV to travel in and the way you live didn't work for me. I took a trip to Florida in my Caravan and that was terrible and then I got a 24' Rv and took the same trip and that was great but the problem was I really didn't like the Rv but now know what I want and will spend the winter here watching for it and have a ton a plans as to how I'm going to remoldel it over time. So verry excited. Really I don't know why you would travel and live like that. Seems a Van or RV would be way more fun and for sure more fun for you dog but to each their own. With that said I also love dogs and will have one to travel with. That's it for now. I subscribed and will always like and will be watching. :)

cast iron is simple, heat it up, wipe it with a lil papertowel and oil, leave on heat a few minutes. do this after each cleaning, scrup with a scraper or soak for a few minutes and then scrub followed by seasoning

I had someone in a dog park feed my lab something about 15 feet in front of me....15 minutes later my lab is seizing and my first thought is that it was caused by whatever he ingested from that stranger....I went back raising my voice demanding to know what she fed my dog and that he was having a seizure....she will probably never do that again...I no longer think it was what she gave him that caused him to seize..but it sure scared the crap out of me.

If you are where you can build a campfire and are going to be camped for the night , wipe your cast iron down with a cooking oil or Crisco you don’t need anything special , put your cast iron in the fire 🔥! Tip: don’t turn your fuel canisters upside down while you attach it to the Jet Boil or other stoves ! Raw fuel will squirt out into generator and burner head , when you ignite the stove you can have some serious flair ups while the raw fuel burns off ! Just a safety tip so you don’t have a fire 🔥 in the back of your vehicle !

I was snowboarding at Abasin a few years ago. My dogs were in the lot in my Jeep with the windows cracked. I came back for lunch and this guy was feeding my dogs CHOCOLATE cookies. Not only is that deadly toxic to dogs but one of my dogs has horrible gastroenteritis. I went OFF on that dude! He was terrified of me but so flippant about it. I just ended my day and drove away because I wanted to unalive his ass! That was years ago and I'm still pisses me off thinking of it now. Your story took me right back to that day. People are so cringe.
