Mike I hardly ever disagree with you but this one I have to. Eating bland food like chicken and broccoli is what kept me constantly falling off the wagon. Once I learned how to make tasty food is when the success starting coming in. Eating bland food just makes you get sick of it and want to eat good tasting food instead resulting in screwing up your diet. The trick is to make your 4-5 meals taste great while still hitting your daily macros

You can have filling AND tasty food - and by that I don't mean the American definition of tasty (which is just heaps of fat, salt and sugar, if you think about it, and not actually tasty). A few examples off the top of my head: - Have a lot more variety of vegetables than just broccoli and cauliflower. There are so many different kinds of veggies and they can be eaten raw or cooked, even grilled. - Season your food with lots of spices and herbs. This makes a HUGE difference because THAT'S what makes food tasty. Look into ethnic cuisines for inspiration. - Try more sources of protein including beans, chickpeas etc. One of my go-to recipes is a chickpea salad, which contains chickpeas, raw vegetables (cucumber, carrots, spring onions, tomatoes, bell peppers and so on; varies with the season), herbs (rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano, parsley) and a bit of lemon juice, salt and a drizzle of olive oil. You can add a slice of bread but even without that I can guarantee you'll be FULL afterwards. It'll also take a while to eat since you have to chew properly instead of just horking it down. - If you can find Skyr in your grocery store, try that instead of greek yoghurt. More protein, less fat. Add vanilla and fruit/berries/nuts and/or some porridge. There are also flavor powders if you crave cheesecake, salted caramel or the like. Admittedly, they're not ideal because they're artificial, but it should be fine to wean you off of junk food at the start of your fat loss journey. - Ultimately, get your tastebuds accustomed to the REAL flavors of foods by "resetting" them. You'll be amazed. There'll no longer be either "tasty but unhealthy food" or "bland but healthy food". Bland food, even if it's a lot, will ultimately make fat loss unnecessarily difficult and it will be so much harder to stick with your new diet (you can never go back to junk/fast food since you'll end up at square one or worse, you need to change the way you eat permanently!). Do NOT make eating a chore. Variety and proper seasoning is KEY for enjoyment and health.

You can have both. Veggies for example can be very tasty if prepared right (seasoning!), both cooked and raw, and you can eat until you're full. Lean meat and fish can also be really tasty and you'll get full and satisfied very quickly. Also, after a while of eating real food, "tasty" food like fries, candy etc. starts to taste off-putting. I really have to disagree with the "eat less tasty food" part of this. While this may work for SOME people, most people will get frustrated and either drop the diet or rebound hard because they're eating bland nutrislop for weeks and months on end. It's much, much better to find ways to have healthy versions of the food you already love, or discover new ones. Or at least put some seasoning or flavorful hot sauce on that chicken breast, my god. For example, I've lost 80lbs in a year on a diet heavily featuring frozen pizza because it fit my macros (I didn't care about losing muscle at the time, I just REALLY had to get that weight off) and it made calorie tracking easier - and you know what? Those California Pizza Kitchen frozen pizzas tasted great! And they gave me the psychological benefit of saying "oh boy, for dinner tonight I'm gonna eat literally an entire pizza!"
@BaconManBruh17 күн бұрын
There's a grey line here. Eating tasty food means you can't get enough of it and want more coz tastiness makes you want to eat more even though you had enough. Now the good part, it's my vice and you better just unplug me on this matrix world of ours you are not taking away the beer, cakes, ice creams, curry, meats away from me like over my dead stunning body so what do we do then? Nothing. Yes you read that right absolutely nothing coz what's life without good food since the stress you gain from not eating what you like is pretty much making you lose gains so there's no way around this and to just grit your teeth get the diet over with so you can get back to eating tasty food once in awhile and you won't feel guilty about it. The bland food while dieting is just a momentary sacrifice and its not forever so get the diet over with so we can finally learn how to eat all our favorite foods without inflating ourselves.
@planetjacker7633 жыл бұрын
in my experience the body will hold onto water during a diet and the fatty areas look extra soft/jiggly. If I cheat and eat something small my body will purge all the water I've been holding onto. Might be stress but I think it's something else. Read on it before and it's called the woosh effect

I’ve done this macro fitting for my nutrition in May followed by an 8 day diet break. Hit my goals, went well. My only problem is a big spike in appetite prior to day 1 of menstrual cycle. A lot of women struggle with this, how do we fix it? I have the RP diet book. I need to revisit it to see if there’s something. Maybe I should place the diet break during that week? I already remove the highly palatable foods.
@Therealw13 жыл бұрын
I’m no scientist but you could in theory look at the processes related to the menstrual cycle and the specific nutrients your body requires for everything to run smoothly. So perhaps experiment with loading up on iron rich foods like beef and ensuring all of your vitamin needs are met before the cycle. Or like you said, incorporate a break where you allow yourself a slight surplus. If all else fails, just load up on slow digesting veggies to reduce cravings.

What about combating fatigue? I find that as early as 3-4 weeks into eating at a deficit, I don't get more physically hungry, I just get tired. I end up moving my body less throughout the day or not being able to keep up with the intensity of my workouts, thus reducing my TDEE and virtually eliminating the deficit I created.

I disagree with his point around 7:10 about limiting how tasty your food is. Sure, cheeseburgers are so tasty that you want to eat a shit ton of them, but that problem has more to do with the fact that they’re filled with tons of fat and calories, which makes them so palatable. I find diet adherence to be much easier if I have healthy low calorie foods that are simultaneously delicious, rather than making my food so unpalatable that I don’t overeat 😆. That’s a guaranteed recipe for cheating on your diet
