I cannot believe it's been 15 years for you! Your passion seems so fresh and you look so young! I love re-watching your videos. I feel inspired each time and it helps remind me on hard days of why I do love being a teacher. I really wish I could observe one of your lessons. I feel you have so much to show and share with us! Much love!

It's hard when you work with difficult people. I had a rough time for a couple of years with a difficult person. For some reason, I was targeted and everything I did was wrong according to this person. It started to chip away at my confidence and steal my joy. I prayed my way through it and it finally resolved. Sometimes you have to go through the fire before you can see the beauty again. Thank you for sharing on this very difficult topic. Many of us experience this to some degree or other and it is nice to hear some Godly advice from your sweet, positive self! Being kind doesn't mean being walked on and disrespected. Yes! It is ALL about the kids! Love and hugs!

At the start of my teaching career, a church elder told me a story about the jobs he had to do as a young man during Jim Crow. After listening to him, I decided to stop complaining about the Sugar Honey Ice Tea of a few poisoned-spirited individuals parading to be educators. It was NOTHING by comparison. I started working on becoming a better me. Dealt with my insecurities. My past traumas. It's all good now! God is Great!

One FAB Teacher I wish I could be more like you, I worry about what people think. That is my soul battle, life long... prayers appreciated. We have a lady who prays through our hallways every Wednesday, one day I asked her to come into my room to pray while we were out of the room. She asked if I had any special requests, I said there is one little guy that needs more prayer than others-didn’t give name. When my student teacher when into my room to get something, she was standing, touching “his” desk. Later, she told me that she asked the Holy Spirit to show her where to pray and He led her there! Amazing! She also told me that she sensed that my room had been covered in prayer, so much that she told her preacher. That made me cry, because I do pray for my kids and their parents. ❤️🙏🏻Mrs. Sanders I think if someone has a problem with you, it’s because of your faithfulness to Jesus and you do your job for Him! I would love to connect our 1st graders next year.

Hello Ms. May. I just want you to know I have been watching your KZbin channel for about 3 months and I am learning so much!! I have been teaching for over 20 years, but am learning so much from you!! I placed buckets in my room and it is such a wonderful atmosphere now! My children enjoy getting their messages. I love it! Also. I got rid of moving the colors and am using your management system. My children love both of those changes. Thank you! Thank you!! I am going to do the night before school information also. I love the Lord and like how you close each lesson. I also teach first glad.

One phrase that softens the confrontation ( if you so desire) is “Are you okay? I have noticed you seem ______ lately and that’s not like you. I wanted to check on you.” You may find they are fighting a battle you know nothing about. (This also works with kids too.)

You have words if wisdom. I have been teaching for 24 years and have had that problem of people not liking me because I was doing my job. Never could I take the disrespect and would have to have a one on one with them. Every year is different. Kindness helps change people. You are wise beyond your years.

Great advice. After much prayer I had to make the difficult decision to confront an administrator who just wasn't a kind person to me (and many others). After doing that I felt so relieved and it totally changed our working relationship for the better. It actually changed the way she treated others as well. She had no idea (or she claimed) that the way she spoke to her teachers was demeaning and disrespectful.

I live in a rural area and I'm a 20 year support staff employee, over my years I have seen teachers become more apathetic and constantly complain. I thought heavily about crossing over into the classroom and this is the chief reason I won't do it. I'd rather work in a different capacity in my district (student services, guidance or attendance)

Great video! I have been teaching for 17 years. I've worked with various teams. I'm alright with sharing ideas if it is equal and there's reciprocity happening among all team members. There are givers and takers on a team. I enjoy sharing ideas but I value time to myself too. I'm still trying to find a balance.

Balance is definitely key. ((Hugs))

I went to a religious private university where I was treated awful. They told me they did not like the fact I acted and looked different. It really hurt me and I started to believe I was no good and embarrassed to be unique. But after I left there I realized they were so wrong! But they scarred me for years

Twenty-three years teaching, and I love your videos. I left teaching for five years, and I’m returning. I think your advice is perfect. After working in another industry, I saw how tough the teacher dynamic can be because we are locked up together all day. I always thought older teachers were nuts when they gave the advice of staying out of the teachers lounge. However, after seeing how other adults work in other industries, I understand that advice more today. I don’t think I will be eating lunch in the lounge everyday when I return. People can get really negative there, and personalities can clash in there. I’ll go in sometimes, but not all the time. I need some down time, and teaching doesn’t always allow that.

Powerful advice ! I struggle with those who complain about everything. We had a PD day at the end of the year & the speaker talked about "the vortex of negativity" & how it is so easy to get "sucked in" when others are complaining. I love your advice of praying & being kind...I always try to start each year being positive..I love my kids & I love what I do...how do u resist the urge to not complain or be negative when others are?

Thank you so much for watching. I will be honest, it's important to have that co-worker or two who you can vent to. We have to let out our steam without being a constant burden. I believe in the power of prayer as well. I just ask God for strength and the right attitude to deal. ((HUGS))

I’ve been teaching for 5 years and for me dealing with adult educators is like dealing with students. You have to modify, scaffold, and tailor yourself around them. Each team is like a kid. Do what you need to do and cope as you need to cope with each team and keep a open tool box to pull from to work with the different personalities.
