Did you ever think to put a long container next to it so it could continue to grow into that one? I have seen this is think it is a wonderful idea so then after second one started it can be separated from the other one. I’d like to try that sometime

I’ve also been avoiding this task. Great informative video!

Hi Amy, once again an interesting topic which has come at a good time. I’ve just air-layered a Philodendron but was a bit impatient and cut the top portion off, removed the container and placed the cutting into water. I’m hoping I’ve done the right thing, so it’s a bit of a waiting game now. I’m also hoping that the bottom part of the plant will send out a new growth so that I can eventually plant the top & bottom together for a more bushy plant.

It could have just been lucky, but I recently took a smaller gloriosum and cut off all its soil roots and stuck it in the top of my aquarium. It grew beautiful water roots so fast. (I did that because I wanted to move it to LECA)
