I got into this through laziness! Searched for 5 min meals on KZbin and "boom" the pear. Meat meals are so much harder and they have to be cooked through etc...can't be bothered. Probably not the best reason to be vegan, but it's true.

If you don't eat a lot of B12 fortified foods it's safer to take one 5000ug every week or 1000ug 2 or 3 times a week. Or about 250ug every day... And about other videos... I love when you're talking about creating community (in real life and KZbin too) and I love your healthier recipes too, as I love to cook (and create some, why not?) more healthy foods...

Haha, I thought the exact same thing when you mentioned how well the person shooting the video and walking backwards was doing. Great job, all of you. Figs and oatmeal, two favorites of mine. Your Instastories usually feature both, and how I wish we had figs available the whole year. I live in Texas and was able to enjoy fresh figs this season. Growing up in Southern California I unknowingly took for granted that pomegranate, fig, orange, avocado, and so many odd fruits grew everywhere. I loved that my aunt could just reach out her back door and pluck a green apple to put in a salad. And kumquats that grew in the backyard , well they were usually used as ammunition by my cousins sitting on the roof of the house, their prey... anyone who walked through their "space." Good times. I'm not vegan, but I'm so glad to have discovered you guys on Instagram and am so glad you are making KZbin content more regularly. Favorite part of your vids... everyone gathering to take a plunge in the sea.

Hi! 👋 So I bought The Happy Health Plan book yesterday evening and I read it all by this afternoon, it’s amazing and I’m feeling so inspired! My family are extreme meat eaters and because I made the spinach and butter bean curry this evening for dinner (which was delicious btw) I’ve been getting grief, I would never force my diet choices on my family so I’d made them chicken on the side so they can do what they want. I don’t feel any point in eating meat or animal products as my doctor told me a few months ago I’m deficient in B12!?! And my diet always had meat and dairy and eggs in it. I’m not happy with my body and my health as I used to be in way better shape and this year I’m at a point where if something isn’t beneficial to my health then I don’t need it in my body, animal products aren’t doing “their job” so I’m going to leave it off and change to the whole plant-based food lifestyle, but I found it so hard to deal with my family today and I know ye said try and get their support or make them see the benefits but I don’t see that working with them.... does anyone have some advice on what I should do? It’s hard to get your head around something that is proven to have positive results when the people close to you are so negative about it. Thanks to anyone who can offer a word of advice ♥️ xx

Hey happy awesome pair! For some reason hadn't been able to catch your videos for about 3 months. Just having a fest watching all the new ones right now. Pleased to see you lads well and happy as always. As a vegetarian living with a meat eater I would like to make the suggestion that you never ever preach saying things like "aww look at that poor animal you are eating" etc. They have made a choice to do that and it's terrible being preached at all the time. Like you guys suggest live by example and do the right thing. If that is not enough to convert people around you then that's it. Over the years at the very least my husband has stopped eating meat that has not been prepared in the most ethical and humane way amongst other little things he does to care for animals. It's a long process to change the culture and the best thing we can do is lead by example. Thanks Steve and Dave for letting me preach here in the comments. Lots of love from Sydney to you and the family. xx

One thing, dealing with non-vegans: I have quite a few lovely vegan cookbooks that I share with friends (vegan or not) and the Pictures help to sell recipes that might seem wonky to Omnivores...it's just a thought but has worked for me, sharing vegan recipes with Omnivores. I am not Strictly Vegan but have People who are......Your cookbooks (Happy Pear) are so Eye Friendly that I've made your recipes and "fooled" Omnivores (chuckling aside)...I never got into Meditation...can't sit still long enough......You guys are the Bomb, much love from the USA.

I love the soy chunks (TVP). Kind of wondering why you say it isn’t really healthy? Is it just because there isn’t B12 in them? I mean it’s pretty “lean” and high in protein. So I love to use it as a source of protein when I eat a plant based meal. Not really a big fan of meat replacers.

Could you talk about greens and cooking greens? Or do a cooking session on greens w/o oil - what should I add to them to add flavor? Thank you for your help!!
@carolynhance55886 жыл бұрын
I know the question isn't to me, but as a vegan nutritional consultant/personal chef, I'll chime it. If you're using greens without oil, in order to get all of the important fat soluble vitamins from them, you'd still need to eat them with some type of fat(ie: avocado, nuts, olives, shelled or crushed seeds), and the vitamin C from fresh lemon or lime juice will also increase the iron uptake...it's fascinating that humans intuitively put lemon and olive oil on their salads without really knowing why, but sometimes our tastes help us get the most nutrition our of the food we eat. Most greens are best not cooked for optimal nutrition, or at the most, wilted just to the point where they become a bright green. Soaking nuts are great for sauces. A tahini or peanut butter sauce with lots of garlic, ginger, chili, bit of soy sauce or miso will not leave any salad or steamed greens like broccoli feel like they're lacking flavour.
