I made a bucket list and carried it in the back of my phone or wallet. When I wanted to crawl back into old and damaging habits, I would look at it to remind me of what I wanted for my life, and what I could only do in a healthy body.

I’m happy for you that you’re only 19. I’m almost 50 and spent all my life on diets. All this suffuring will not happen to you. As for me, better late than never, I know, but I so much wish I had known about recovery before.

This really helped, especially the last part of the video. Today I told my best friend that I was struggling with anorexia and now I'm trying to recover and it really helped. I was about to relapse and telling her made me feel way better and motivated. I'm almost recovered now, I just got my period back today but I think I gained too much weight and I'd like to lose some. How do you lose weight after an eating disorder? I don't wanna relapse, but still.. I just wanna lose some weight
@zoealexiswongg

in recovery, it is normal to overshoot your set point weight. Weight redistribution can take around a couple months to a year to even out! That being said, don't worry so much about weight loss right now! the weight will come off gradually over time as you develop a safe and trusting relationship with your body!

I feel the same way. It's so hard because you want to be healthy and learn to love yourself, but you also don't want to be in a body that doesn't feel comfortable or like yourself. I think what can also make it difficult in the first few months is the bloating and water retention can make you look bigger than you actually are. I'm within a healthy weight range and I eat healthy and I still exercise, just not as much as I did before, but I look like I weigh more than I do, especially after meals. It's also very hard to deal with body dysmorphia, maybe you aren't as big as you see yourself, you could just be used to being a lot smaller, it doesn't mean you are actually "big". I hope you get through this hard phase. Just get give it time and tell yourself you'll never really know how things could be when it all settles. Don't relapse, you will put yourself in a vicious cycle and just have to keep going through everything over and over again.

@@victoriaevans2442 omgggg Idk who u r but I just love u...u just stated everything that's been bugging me out. I'm going thru that phase too and I feel lonely stuck confused and hopeless. I feel bloated uncomfortable and fat but I can't stop myself from eating. And then there's the guilt afterwards... I've a round and chubby face naturally and unless I'm really skinny the fat around my face just won't go away. I fucking hate myself and I need someone

how do you change your mindset to just sort of not seeing weight gain as the ultimate worst case scenario? while my physical eating habits aren’t really that damaged i really want to shift my mindset before it’s too late and it turns into an ed? for example, i bodycheck compulsively so many times a day for the physical action of it even more than the ‘desire’ to see i guess, which already seems like a gateway to an ed

Maybe think that your body is the least interesting thing about. Also it allows you to do everything like hanging out with friends, dance etc so it doesn’t deserve to be malnourished or being insulted

Caroline, that was me a long time ago, but what helped me was maybe ask your friends and your family the positive things in their lives and see what resonates with you. If someone says something that sticks with you, you can make it one of your reasons! Also remember that YOU are unique! YOU have something to offer this world that no one else does and we need you!

thank you for this. I am trying to recover for around 1 month now but it's been hard...I still eat to little and bodycheck all the time, even before taking a shower or how I look wearing certain clothes...and my god, how hard it is. I felt like I got better but then I went to the doc and obviously did not gained anything, and now it is my "last chance" before I get internalized or everyone around me kinda loose hope. I needed this. Thank you so much

PlEASE HELP!! how do I fix my metabolism from eating 500 calories a day?? I don’t rlly wanna gain weight but I need to fix my metabolism ASAP (for reference I'm 5’5, and I used to be 127 pounds but now I am 110.)

hey, I’m not a dietician or anything, I’m just going through an ed too, and I have some tips if you want. First, I’m sorry but it’s going to take a long time and there are gonna be days when you’ll feel like giving up because it’s not worth it. But it is. Your body needs more than 500 calories and I know it’s frightening but I’m proud of you for coming here and trying to fix it. So, first tip : if you do this all by yourself, always keep in mind that all the thoughts you have about not eating or anything is not yours but your ed. I think it really helps because you get to separate you from the illness and you see it as an enemy, so you’ll be proud of you the days you’re eating more. Second tip : if you’re afraid to gain weight too fast or to bloat a lot (which is my fear), try to eat more little by little. What I mean is, go from 500 calories a day to 700 calories. Get used to it, and when you feel ready, go for 800 or 900, until you reach an amount that suits your body. Personally, I was 123 pounds before and now I’m 103 and I gained 4 pounds in a month. With this method, you get accustomed to the weight gain. Of course it’s hard to see my body changing and everything. But I need it, I lost my period, I’m cold all the time, this is not a life. When I see the other girls being beautiful without being thin, I think it’s worth it because one day I’ll be like them. Healthy and happy. Because if an Ed makes you learn something, it’s that it’s useless to be healthy and sad

Tw// my ed My doctor didn’t believe that I had an under eating issue because I was technically over weight (even though she never asked me about my eating habits or how I eat. I also had a referral from my therapist who tracked my bad eating habits.) and all she basically told me was to lose more weight and now I’m crying because I feel as though every time I go to the hospital all they tell me is that if I lose weight my other issues will go away
@circusdu_soleil
@circusdu_soleil 2 жыл бұрын
If you are under eating, please eat more at least to a normal amount if not going all in and getting your Ed treated. Speaking from experience, doctors know next to nothing about nutrition or weight or eating disorders (I’m a med student) and I’m so sorry your therapist did not properly address your issues. Know that you deserve to eat properly and to satiety no matter what weight or size you are. Good luckk ❤️❤️

@@circusdu_soleil I actually did force my way into getting a dietitian. Though now I actually have to call the doctors to get an actual referral. But I started last year in the beginning of the school year. So sorry I didn’t see your reply, but thank you for the comment. I also agree sometimes doctors can also fall into shaming behavior and be ignorant to nutritional advice outside of outdated information. My dietitian has treated me well. I am still looking for a new doctor because the one that rejected me also didn’t help me for my other issues. But thank you anyways.

is it also normal for a bulimic to gain weight in recovery? cause I am gaining and that makes me feel upset, and I am absolutely not underweight actually ))
@zoealexiswongg
@zoealexiswongg 4 жыл бұрын
yes I have met people who recovered from bulimia and did experience weight gain! what you have to remember is that you still might have had a restrictive mindset around food, so the weight gain could be a result of your body learning to trust you again! I am no doctor or professional; however, know that you are not alone and that you are so much more than a number!

@professor1123
@professor1123 3 жыл бұрын
Your stomach is going to bloat. (Like mine when I start eating food my digestive system haven't had in a certain period of time) and it's normal. It's all process but consistency is key.
@professor1123

Oh and try to have smaller amount of food you're reintroducing to ur stomach.
@kaylacarmical8676
@kaylacarmical8676 3 жыл бұрын
yes and no! the bloating will not be as bad as your metabolism recovers because it will be used to eating a more “normal” amount of food, which you might think is “a lot” of food. BUT bloating to an extent is unavoidable as food does take up space in your stomach and you do have to digest it.
