There's four years in the difference between their ages. People seriously need to stop with the idea that John was leaving 5 year old Dean all alone to take care of one year old Sam. Jaysus! When he left them alone that young, he left them with someone he trusted to TAKE CARE OF THEM (IF he left them at all at that age). Dean never changed Sam's diapers FFS.

Obviously my parents were around, but I'd be more shocked if Dean hadn't changed a diaper in his life. I've read that new and inexperienced parents tend to hold babies on their dominant side, while experienced parents would hold babies on their non dominant side so they can still use their dominant hands. Seeing as how Dean holds the baby on his left side instead of his right means that he's basically a dad. Probably from all those times taking care of lil' Sammy.
