Perfect timing Lainey! Jen, Shawn, and I are going through all the jazz dances during quarantine and the Dean Collins Shim Sham is next :) Thanks for the walkthrough!

Although I have recorded my own video from jazz class (happy times before COVID) and have found various other videos with interesting executions of this routine, I find myself coming back to this video, whenever I my memory is fuzzy about a step or too. The initial break down and color coded stamps are very helpful.

Does the break at the end of half breaks have a name? (Step, triple step....)
@LaineySilver2 жыл бұрын
I've seen it sometimes called the "turn break" but I don't know if that's an official name.

Is the Dean Collins more complex than the Frankie Manning version?
@LaineySilver4 жыл бұрын
Yes. There are more steps, it’s a longer routine, and there are no repeat sections.

This is the Dean Collins Shim Sham. The 16 first 8counts are similar, although the Frankie Manning routine is even more repetitive. From the lock-turn to the end they are completely different. Here is the Frankie Manning version, taught by himself: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bZDFm5KEncibe6M
