Early days again, and two "finals" here .... This was the LAST ever "DEAN FORD" & The Gaylords" recording - the subsequent and final EMI Columbia release "He's A Good Face" was released purely as "The Gaylords" ..... also the last time I used my left hand Strat in the studio before changing to a lh Gibson Stereo es 345.
Traded the Strat in against the Gibson ( had to...skint ) - don't know what happened to it...
terrific song imho, written by John Carter and Ken Lewis ( The Ivy League )

In 1964 I saw Dean and the boys blow The Moody Blues (the headliners!) off the stage in Luss, by Loch Lomond...there were hired busses from George Square to get us there and back...the boys were brilliant, a great band, but there were a few boos for the Moody Blues.

I've never heard that one before but, what a pleasure to hear it now Junior. Lovely times! 1965, I was eleven years old, but I was starting to appreciate the good music. Sweet memories. :)

Hearing this band in 1965 ,you can marvel at their musicality of the understated playing and the sophisticated 3 and 4 part harmony of Dean and the band members. They should have gone further and higher in the music business. .Trouble is at this time all the media of the UK was blasted by the over hype of the Beatles.Erroneously people assumed that all the groups were copying the 4 "moptops"

They did go further and higher in the music business. They became Marmalade and had their biggest hit covering those moptops you mention.

Junior: You and Dean Ford are giants in the music world. Although I remember hearing " Reflections of My Life" years ago, I recently discovered the video of Dean singing this song in 2014, along with clips of The Marmalade Dean. Since then I have been finding out all I can about your careers. Thank you so much for all you have contributed to make the world not such a bad place, not such a sad place.

The Pleazers also cut a version in New Zealand in 1965. It's a virtual copy of this, right down to the vocal riffs in the fadeout.

The song is much better with it's melancholy than the Beatles Ballads from their first albums.

Comparing them to the Beatles and getting the result that their ballad is much better means: appreciating them. I also appreciate nearly all Beatles Songs.

@@JuniorCampbellmusic Hi Junior, hope you are well. I stayed at Joe Tansin's home in LA a few weeks ago. Dean was there often and made several recordings, best for me Glasgow Road. I now live in Washington State. Still singing. All my shows postponed for a while. Regards, Ray.

I should have probably made mention of the fact that this is a great cover of The Ivy League's song. Dean Ford and The Gaylords was a wonderful group. The tune itself is lovely and the band so harmonious and mellow. Only 325 "Likes"? What's up with that?

Just found this when looking at Marmalade recordings. I lived across the crescent 31 corner house. i remember the brown Commer van the Gay Lords used, my brother's wife's family moved into your old house after your family left. Did one of the neighbours help you with some piano lessons? I also went to Eastbank Academy.

@@JuniorCampbellmusic Very sad, a beautiful track, just love it. I was born in Newton Mearns in 1965, so little bit younger than you and the band Junior, spent so many of my summers in my former years on the banks of Loch Lomond near Drymen and Balmaha, however just love Marmalade and their sound. Just watching a film the other day and reflections came on as part of the soundtrack - a rather touching film by Seth Rogan - An American Pickle. Did you ever knock around with Eddie Cairns, a guitar player and singer in the late 60's and early 70's in Glasgow - old friend of mine. Thank you for writing back. (Currently in Pasadena California USA)

@@JuniorCampbellmusic just heard back from my friend Eddie Cairns in Glasgow, he was part of the Davy Nicholson band which was the brother of Hugh Nicholson the guitarist that joined The Marmalade in 1971 when you left the group. Eddie spoke about being in the Decca studios in in London in Shepherd's Bush that I am sure you remember. Small world. My father who is 85 loves this song but also Reflections. He was impressed that you and Dean Ford wrote the impationed song when you both were so young. Blessings always Rolfe
