I love Deans little digs at ‘crazy Shirley’ (MacLaine), whom he often made fun of because of her belief in reincarnation; “she calls me every couple of weeks, but from places that don’t have an area code!” And when he talks about the humming bird “wearing out its zipper” I’m pretty sure that’s a reference to one of Deans favourite jokes about Frank; “when he retires, they’re gonna hang his zipper in the Hall of Fame!”

Also note, they got away with making a joke that they would be shamed for making today - When they made reference to the lucky guy that "Gets to put the body make-up on the girls". If anyone said that today, they would immediately be met by social justice warriors, and screams of the "Objectification of wimin!!!". Why might there be metrosexual wimps today? The answer to that, and why these men were able to make that remark back then and why they would not be able to do so today, is telling as to how freely men are able to speak in a society.

AG's life was touched. He had extraordinary talent, God given talent. He acted, he taught, he entertained and he sang. Andy published many gospel albums. "Gospel" means 'The good News'. Specifically, it means the good news of Jesus Christ. This isn't his best work. Oddly, he showed his liberalism proudly with age. He took action to proactively endorse two NC governors- Easley and Purdue. Both were liberal Democrats who suffered indictments and legal folly because of their conduct. Did the Lord, that Andy hailed, give veiled monologues to the masses about butterfly men wearing dresses? How about sexual favors for ice cream treats? It's a cautionary tale. "You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God." James 4:4
@suzettebennett25644 жыл бұрын
I heard he was not liberal. First he would not do a play with Lena Horne because she was Black. Second his costar on Matlock was called the n word because he was late to the set so how is a liberal. John Wayne definitely was a racist and said so.

We have to be ready or we wouldn't have any new babies . The problem is Men just need to leave woman alone until it's the proper time or go away . They drank on stage too, don't be shocked. It didn't warp us too bad. Check out Dean, George Goebel and Bob Newhart on Johnny Carson comedy classics, where Goebel thinks he has the audience roaring with laughter at his words But they are laughing because Dean is tapping his cigarette ash into Goebel's drink when George isn't looking. I still laugh at that clip even after seeing it a hundred times. I count myself lucky to have enjoyed these talented people when I was a kid, and we were also lucky enough to have grown up with some of the best music also. Born 1960, and remember most, if not quite all, of the 70s...we lost so many way too young, but us surviving boomers had some great experiences and accomplishments...RIP to the rat pack. Sammy Davis Jr was able to break down some barriers with just his incredible talent, too. Loved them all.
