You are such a wonderful host, and so very delightful, I wish that I could watch your show here in California USA. I absolutely LOVE DEAN MARTIN, and he happens to be my favorite Male Singer. I miss Dean every day now that he's gone. His voice was so velvety smooth and soothing, that even my dog loved hearing his music and would lay down and relax. Doris Day was my favorite Female Singer, and her voice was wonderful, because it was the same way, velvety smooth and soothing.

Apparently he listened more than he talked when around other people.So many co-stars singers family and friends talk about his unique way of making everyone around him feel better about themselves. Did he have fantastic talents as a writer, director, dancer ??? You're getting confused with Jerry Lewis. Dean Martin has never read a book in his life, let alone if he was writing one. This was Dean Martin as he really was, very easy going, soft spoken, likable individual. The closest any of us sadly will ever get to see Dean as if he was talking in his living room or den at home. Unfortunately he did not give many of these type of interviews. When you see him with Johnny Carson he's play acting to his show business personna, this was a rare glimpse of the man as he truely is.

2packs4sure Hi 2packs: I'm thinking it was around 1978 or 1979 and it was held at Bader Field, a little league field just 7 blocks from my home. Only musicians and radio and newspaper people were invited (I helped out on a local radio show on WFPG on a Saturday night big band show, so knew the production manager there--we were great friends, so he took me along). I don't remember much, however, I do remember for the opening pitch, Sinatra threw the ball and Dean Martin was at bat. He kept missing, so they brought out a HUGE beach ball, which Sinatra tossed and Martin finally hit! I'll never forget that! Thanks for asking!

About two years I passed through Dean Martin's small hometown of Steubenville, Ohio. I asked a local where I could find a memorial or a statue of Dean so I could photograph it. To my surprise he said there were none but a sign on a highway outside of town that they named in his honor. "Are you kidding me?" I thought. Here you have this big time star from the 40's through the 70's and all this little Podunk town could come up with was a state highway sign? It's not like he was just born there and left at an early age. He lived in that small town well into his twenties until before chasing his dream in New York. If anyone from Steubenville with some clout or some organizational skills is reading this do yourself a favor and properly memorialize your favorite son.

They still have the Festival as of this past year. it was in celebration of Dino turning 100. Not sure if its going to be held any longer on account of the person in charge retiring from the postion
@lindashelley36356 жыл бұрын
Eds Epistle That would be a real shame for it to end but I suppose it will all depend on whether they can find someone who cares enough to keep it going. Also, I suppose, on whether it would bring in enough fans and tourists to make it financially viable for the town, which so often these days seems to be the bottom line when it comes to things like that. Whatever happens in Steubenville, there are still many of us fans around the world who remember Dean with great fondness, and can still enjoy the wonderful entertainment he provided via the modern technology that never even existed back when he was still with us.

webglider1962 It was probably that the guy who posted it closed his youtube page or it was taken down by youtube for some reason. NBC, BMI, .... are brutal.
@webglider196210 жыл бұрын
Full agreement on that. I also have a problem with the copyright trolls. I have a few piano pieces written a couple of hundred years ago, some group in the States claims copyright which cuts the full potential of the performance I may show. Annoying because I actually make the performance. Too much litigation on bogus copyright claims.
