It's amazing the amount of people who really believe that Dean was a drunk singer.. He wasn't, it was all part of the act. But he was such a versatile person, he could act the drunk so well that he actually fooled so many people. I love the man, always have, always will.

Often during the performances Martin would use apple juice on stage in place of an alcoholic drink or would have one drink as a prop on stage for the evening. Martin wanted to ensure he would be giving his best performances on stage. Joey Bishop stated in a 1998 interview with Time magazine, "I never saw Frank, Dean, Sammy or Peter drunk during performances - that was only a gag."

Very true Margaret. It started with the Rat Pack, they would do a drink/bar scene in their shows and Dean was so good at it he just kept it going. It was the same with Oliver Read he was a drinker and people always expected him to show up drunk,so he did, but a lot of the times he was just playing up to his reputation ha!

A a great talent to to bring for any performance on stage. Great romantic singer and charming presence for all with him on stage and the audience.
