This is what is missing from the 21st Century: Extremely talented entertainers with real talent, class, elegance, sophistication, etiquette, charm, polite, kind, respectful. We've lost so much of that and it didn't have to be this way. My dad loved them so much, and he would sit in front of the TV, singing right along with them. We kids used to make fun of my parents' old people music and my dad would smile and say "You don't know what's good." Yeah, I didn't but I sure do now. I love those memories of my dad, who died 28 years ago. Oh, what I'd give to be transported back in time to be with my dad once again, observing the joy that poured out of him when the Mills Brothers were singing.

Some Dean Martin & some Frank Sinatra & Billie Holliday record’s played that night too. My husband was converted to the Mills Brothers that night. I’d been hearing them my whole life. My mom was named Margie he’d Change ‘Mary’ in the song 🎶Cab Driver🎶 to ‘Margie’, serenaded her with & without the record playing. I saw a British guitar teacher do a lesson using “Paper Doll” tonight & I got nostalgic for the other songs I grew up with. So glad this is posted. Mom died last year, daddy’s been gone dine 1992.
