the mafex figure is nice but is SUPER fragile and basically every joint falls off if you breathe on it wrong. its not worth it imo. this looks much better

Entirely agree with your assessment. I only prefer the browner hue on the Mafex to the Mezco. I couldn’t ever have that alone be enough to make me buy that finicky thing!

I. Need. This. One of the most disturbing things about Alien is the fact the Ovomorph(egg) is a living organism. And considering the scene where the crew are being transformed into eggs makes that even scarier

There's a little bit of a glare on the mezco alien but not enough for my liking as to why I added my own custom wet look!!! The alien hive has much condensation "moisture" in the air and the aliens in my displays are fitting to this situation, Unfortunately I won't share pictures of my displays as there has been issues in the past where my 📸 photography was used in situations without permission that I didn't approve of, So I just keep my displays to myself and friends who visit may look but not take photo's, I liked your review, 😊 my Mezco alien stands alone in my displays and I put him on a more fitting display base fighter pose with robo cop as I felt he would be definitely a good challenge for the alien with his armor!!!👍👍👍

Its a very great figure and the majority of the head was well executed with accuracy. They even used the movie model and not the production model, which makes it look more intimidating in my opinion. The only nitpicks I have are: 1. The pharyngeal jaws should be bleached bone in color, not aliens style blue with a black wash applied. 2. They made the toes amber in color and not chrome. I assume they tried to make the toenails look grotesque as seen in some collectibles. 3. The dome should have been translucent white as not only will this help in accuracy, but it will offer a nice contrast to the darkness of the body itself. Overall, it's very good and I recommend it.

I gotta tell you man, I know it’s probably late and random from anybody like me but you killed it. Great fucking job with your videos and awesome quality for the viewers. I’m out hunting for the jungle hunter from Mezco too and just bought their Alien just like you. Didn’t even know this brand existed but I love it. I’m a big NECA fan still and won’t be replacing any of my own collection with these, rather gonna add them, you pushed me over the edge to just go for it. Keep up the great work in future videos brother. 10/10 from me. 👌🏻

Great review! As an alien aficionado, I also recommend this figure. I wish somebody made on in 1/6 (I really don’t know how hot toys screwed that chance up the first time around. Medicom has the best 12” alien so far, but kotobukiya really takes the cake in terms of accuracy, proportion, painted detail…. I only wish somebody was able to use that file and turn it into a proper 1/6 and 1/4 scale figure … Heck, I’d be happy with the stylized Yoshihiko sano sculpt as an alternative for a 1/6 scale figure because it’s still accurate to the original Giger sculpt.

Wow, phenomenal looking. As a hardcore Big chap collector, this is very spot on. I own the Medicom RAH which has rubber legs and arms like this one does. Its a more simple figure and the colour is light black/grey/brown but its very accurate. The Medicom Mafex figure is very good also. But i do think the way this stands and looks is exceptional. Its a must buy. Bravo Mezco. Yes, i saw in other reviews the A L I E N font was wrong and it sucks.

Good review on your part!!! But the alien should actually be much taller then the predator in fiction reality? That was the issue I have with this, Mezco didn't scale these correctly, for an example compare the Neca big chap alien with the Neca predator those figures are correctly scaled by Neca, I am a alien hive builder and have 60 big chap aliens by Neca including the queen for my displays, But you did nice on your review and the background eerie music was definitely fitting to the situation at hand, Myself with my Mezco alien I put a semi gloss clear coat on as there's more of a wet look to it as opposed to the more subdued look Mezco gave the figure, Myself was disappointed in the base, Overall good review 😊

The only downside is that some of the joints have rubber leftovers tangled in the armature which can cause joints to spring outwards.

This may very well be the best Alien figure that I've ever seen at or close to this scale. NECA's releases look great in their own right. However, Mezco has made the best Alien figure when it comes to the Alien Big Chap. The overall sculpt, paint application and details are top notch. I appreciate the fact that NECA utilized a seamless body, which is always a huge plus of course. I like the accessories as well. Other than the issue with the display stand, everything else about the Mezco Alien Big Chap is top tier in my honest opinion. Awesome photography by the way. I absolutely love the way that the red light reflects off the figure. It further enhances an already solid piece. Great work on the part of Mezco! Thanks once again Dean for another wonderful video! I really appreciate the continued hard work! Keep it up! God bless and stay safe! I hope that you had an amazing Christmas!

I cancelled this after feeling let down by the Predator. At prototype stage I thought this looked worse than the Predator and didn't hold out any hope that it would be improved. Aaannd of course it DOES end up being improved, looks pretty damn good and now I have to reorder it.

It appears Mezco included a mixed bag of Alien & Aliens (films) creatures in the box & has both films font on the pkg. The facehugger, chestburster & stand base all appear to be from Aliens (except the base loses the "s" since the focus here is the (singular) Alien in the box). So the expectation that everything included is just OG film related does not appear to be what Mezco elected to actually produce/issue. It appears the back of box pic with OG font on the base stand may have been the original intent but then at some point that changed during production when Mezco apparently decided to include creatures from both Alien & Aliens. This looks pretty good . I still say even though not made as well the mafex is killing it in head sculpt and over all accuracy. If you REALLY know the the Giger alien you know this to be true. If this had mafex head then this figure would have never been outdone. I don't understand why it's so hard for ALL of these companies to nail the head look

It originates from the crew while they were making the film,the British crew nick named him the big chap because he was almost 7ft tall.
