My brain is pooping. I just made it to the part where you showed Tobi’s “gravity picking” technique. I used to do that but with chords on an Ovation acoustic I had in high school(1997) I haven’t thought about that since. I was just goofing off with way I picked and I thought it was interesting but never did anything with it since! 😍

Wow.. So I accidentally "invented" gravity picking myself back in 2001 when I was 13 and trying to learn to play the fast tapping solo to "One" by Metallica. I had no idea what tapping was and that was the closest I could get to the right sound by ear. Once I learned to tap, I abandoned the technique and assumed it would always just be a part of my awful self-taught guitarist history. Hearing this technique purposefully used and done so well is a nostalgia blast I can't describe. Keep the "gravity picking" alive dudes! Cheers

I think I first heard gravity picking from Steve Vai - oddly enough it was in a video from like 1998 where he was jamming with Korn. Glad you guys are finally developing it into a full blown technique, it sounds rad. Oh also, it sounds really weird if you do it only a single fret about where your left hand is.
