Love you for this Tyler! We as the American church hold our “righteousness” higher than our God, and our “holiness” becomes our God, and we fall. So glad to hear you speak about your journey. Thank you.

What I’ve learned as a follower of Jesus, God calls us out of our shame, not into it. Many in the faith try to use shame to change, it doesn’t work, and if it does, it never last. But love, the “While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” love. Is the place where transformation occurs.

Living life abundantly means trusting Jesus with our salvation. We cannot save ourselves. When we seek His will above our own, we're on the right path. Though we may struggle, we should pray and strive to align our desires with His. If we live only for ourselves and our desires, we may be deceiving ourselves about our salvation. We will face a constant battle against sin, but we must remain committed to resisting it. Choosing to live in willful sin indicates we have not fully surrendered to Jesus. While we will stumble, we must keep fighting against willful sin.

I am more spiritual than religious, thinking that the energy that is in each of us and connects all of us in the universe and that is our life spirit. Organized religion for me has always been about power and control, religious leaders need to control the masses.

To me, this feels real, raw, and vulnerable. You're speaking things that I'm sure a lot of people have felt or thought but have been afraid to say. Because you've shared your thoughts on a platform that reaches many, I believe you are brave and admire you for it. I wish every human could feel safe to share their truth and just be who they are, allowed to question, and allowed to speak without judgment. I, for one, am not there yet. After watching this, I realize I hide behind a filter.

I even traveled almost 3 hours to come see your concert in Chicago way back in the day. But seeing your honesty now in these videos has made me a super fan. I relate to this. I grew up in a very prominent Christian community that is now under heavy fire, and many of the people I grew up around hurt me. Especially my own family. My sister is on her own journey to start healing and mending bridges and we've been able to connect in ways we never were able to before. But I flinch when I hear someone call themselves a Christian, and then I'm ashamed of my own embarrassment. I'm rambling; there's no conclusion to this story yet. But I am grateful to hear your sincerity. These recent videos have been a breath of fresh air. So thank you, Tyler.

Tyler, you are so brave for sharing your journey and for working on yourself the way you are ❤️ I’ve been struggling with something similar where I feel like I have to “earn” God’s love. I tend to feel that if I don’t read the bible every day or I do something out of line that i’m not “Christian” enough. I’m also working on trying to discern what God is saying through bible passages, rather than the church itself and its views on certain subjects. I’ve been finding through my search that it’s more about finding that peace in God and staying in it rather than chasing what’s literally there on the page. Thank you for highlighting this ❤️

I feel the struggle.. I lost a lot of my faith over the last 5-8 years because of my experience with other Christians. I was a youth minister and almost became a priest. At the end of the day the core should have always been a single thing. There are many paths, but one road. One of my all time favorite Christian songs comes to me when I am mad at other Christians or even at myself for how I act is Casting Crowns "Jesus, friend of sinners".

I have deconstructed my 'religion'. It's a tough ride. Some who deconstructed turn and RE construct their faith into what they feel Is best for them. Others, once they see the truth, turn entirely away. And both paths are ok.

I feel this. Sadly, the majority of Christians don't understand how to love and empathize. Our actions and heart reach people. What you are doing in these videos are a way of reaching people. I'm a worship leader and I feel you. People begin to feel they are righteous and push others. It's not right. That pastor you met is how we should be. Love you bro! Thank you for being honest.

We need no fixing we need real understanding, real support. Church people need to understand creating a relationship doesn't mean going ur way only but walking on the unknown path of the person u want to create the relationship with. And we are already good the way we are. So wee need no fixing we just need people that care about what goes through our mind

I think you're on the right track here. I recently had to switch churches, from a church I went to for almost 16 years. They just weren't teaching the Bible correctly. I'm on a journey to understand the Bible now. To put scripture in context. I've read the whole Bible but I haven't understood it. I don't love that you cuss to tell the story though. I still think as Christians, we should try to elevate beyond what the world would do. To be set apart. I say that in love, not condemnation. Everyone is on there journey and as long as that journey leads you to Christ, the real Christ, I'm for it. I'd love to sit down an have a talk with you and hear your story in depth and share mine as well. The church I attend now is amazing. The people are amazing. It's a church that follows the scriptures and talks about them and tries to best understand them. Something my previous church just did not do. Anyway, it's not much but that's a little bit of my journey.

I'm so sorry you felt like you couldn't be yourself because then people wouldn't like you. We all wear masks. But authenticity takes courage and radical change. You being yourself helps encourage me, and I'll bet many others, to be a bit more of ourselves in spaces like the workplace...where authenticity can realistically get you fired. The world is full of imposters placating others telling people what they want to hear. Thank you for being yourself. I'm thankful you don't have to be inauthentic or worry about the thoughts/judgements of others in such a public space anymore! :)

I've seen this scripture interpretted in a few ways, but it's this one bit when Jesus cursed the fig tree. "Let a tree be judged by it's fruits" If the fruit of your life, our lives, is positive testimony from the lives you've impacted and the lives you've been around, and a clear conscience stemming from a place of knowing you are loved by our saviour, I say that's a great place to be in. Glad one of our generation's youtube heroes are still here. Be blessed Tyler! :D

I really appreciate what you said. Very timely as I too have been questioning the focus of Calvinistic teaching. Perfectionism has had me in chains of shame for as long as I can remember, and some of it has been because of a lack of compassionate handling of so many scriptures. I’ve been coming to believe that any gospel presentation that starts with our own sinfulness is really missing Genesis 1! The beautiful nature and character of God, that we were created very good, that we were created in his image. I don’t think those things change. My theme verse the last while has been Colossians 3:12. Still on a journey myself, so thank you for sharing part of your journey! ”Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe YOURSELF with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.“

Really appreciate the REAL unfiltered honesty here.. as a newer Christian, I've found that too often we're just hypocrites, plain and simple. And as representatives of this worldview we believe explains the truth about our very reality and existence, we NEED to do better. ...But like you alluded to at the end of your video, it's all about Jesus - not the fallen followers of Jesus (who will ALWAYS fail while we're here in the flesh).. but the perfect God-man who came to save every one of us who will receive Him 🙏 If Christianity is true, and I actually think it is, then He is absolutely worth following no matter the cost. Amen brother, great video ❤️

I'm an atheist. I never found religion to be important for me. But I know it's important for others. When I talk about deconstruction, this is what I mean. Tearing down the religion you were given and building it back up with your own understanding. For some, that means leaving the church. For others, like yourself, that means seeing the issues within the teachings of and the actions within the Church and removing that from your faith. I might be a stranger but I'm proud of you for taking the time to not only critically look at your faith but also for taking the time to share it.

The heart is a deceitful thing tho who can trust it it says in scripture. I put this here Not to Attack but following your heart usually means just follow your own desires and wishes and your will for your life whatever pleases you the most. Thats very different from following Jesus and his plan for your life ❤

Hey Tyler. Been watching you on KZbin for over 10 years, and listening to your music for so many years. I'm a 42 year old woman, and I've been to so many different types of churches since I was a little kid. I've been told everything about what I should or shouldn't do because GOD will judge me. And I've just come to the conclusion that only GOD has the right to judge me, and I don't have to go to church to have a relationship with GOD. I am always rooting for you Tyler, and I wish you well on your journey in this life. ❤️

Hey Tyler. Hello From Colombia, south america... Being a fan since 2012. My mother is evangelic, my Dad was a jehova witness, my grandmother (i call her mom cause she raised me) is catholic. ... And me? Well i believe in the Man up there... I believe that he has my back no matter what. I understand that you are communicating an idea, ur trying to put it in words, so you use the phrase "piece of shit" to express that "you could do better, but you are not doing it"...but that does not make you a piece of shit ... Words have a lot of power, they help define and shape your comprehension of the world around you.... So the words you are choosing to define your self kinda define the next step in your path... So choose wisely ... For sure there are lots of things that you can improve, but for sure you are not a piece of shit It seems that you are on a discovery path... God bless you man, i hope you find it. I do believe in god, but i found that i was not able to find it at church, i even try their seminars, and as an engineer that i'm i always had lots of questions that did not found answers in their teaching, and even got them anoyed .... but later on those questions got answer by god itself... Sometimes trough an unexpected friend, trough a song, a dialogue in a movie... I found that god will use anything to answer you just need to ask with faith and be aware... You are not a piece of shit so dint ever say that about your self. You made mistakes, and you have to deal with that, ... you have to learn to Forgive yourself in order to feel and enjoy the love around. Happy to folow where this journey takes you. Blessings to you man

Don’t judge Christianity based on Christians. Christians are also imperfect people. Simply follow the Scriptures. It’s all in there. If what you are following is in contradiction to them, then it’s not what you should be following or preaching. Too much of the church just accepts and affirms sinful lifestyles now, which is where the insincerity and distrust stems from. People also don’t want to give up their sin. God is BOTH merciful and just.

@@TylerWard Grace Fellowship in Shrewsbury, which from what I recall, is quite a distance away from you 😂 The “lukewarm” church, the hip and “updated” church, and prosperity gospel are worse than outright paganism. Drawing in with lies and deceit about what Christ taught and what the Scriptures say in regards to sin and Hell. I feel so many so-called “Christians” only say they are because It’s “cool” which likely means it doesn’t align with Scriptural Christianity. Christians are absolutely called to hold other Christians accountable which is why I say all this, and the misguided adage about “judge not” is misinterpreted. It says to remove first, the plank in your own eye, in order to then work on the speck in the other’s. This doesn’t mean I’m gonna go around judging everyone’s actions, because I have several of my own planks in my eyes, but following Christ is not a comfortable endeavor. If it was, everyone would do it. I’m very glad to see you have turned to Christ, I grew up listening to boatloads of your old covers and you are who I considered the “Father of KZbin Cover Music”, and even if you’ve turned from that path, I’m still happy to follow you and keep updated! God bless!

Thank you for your words here. You speak the truth my friend and here are two promises from Christ to you, i.e., 1Corinthains 15:58 and Isaiah 55:11. "Following Christ is not a comfortable endeavor ".... this is so true. Just remember, if this world liked and accepted you and your words, then that's when you should be worried. But since it doesn't, then take heart, you are in great company (see John 15:19).
