Anyone who's been in a manipulative relationship can recognize what David is doing, but if you haven't, let me spell it out for you. When david gives his friends ridiculously expensive gifts for seemingly no other reason than that he's a nice guy, he's actually doing it to have something over them that they will NEVER be able to repay. So how do they make it up to him? By doing dumb reckless things for his vlog that they would'nt think twice about in real life. " Well he bought me a Lambo...the least I can do is drink my own piss for his video". But Jeff is different. For once Jeff has something over David that he will never be able to repay, no matter how many bills he pays or how many expensive gifts he gives (the only real things his friendship offers) he can never make up for the fact that he permanently damaged his Brain and Eye. Jeff dude, you're making a huge mistake. Many believe lawsuits are greedy and selfish and sometimes that's true, but often it's not. In your situation it isn't at all. What happens if this injury prevents you from being able to work and make money down the line in a way you're not realizing now? What happens if you develop early onset dementia or some other chronic, debilitating condition down the line? What happens if the lights completely go out in that eye? You can't rely on the kindness of people, you need to get financially compensated for this to protect yourself as much as you can from those what if situations. It can also helps to have the injury recorded on the books (legally) in a way that shows that your own negligence isn't solely the cause of the incident.It can help you maintain insurance coverage, and enable you to take advantage of other things down the line. It's not about being a man or not. Only fools keep their word to cheats and snakes, he's proven to be both of these. Take care of yourself.

I think one of my hardest lessons this year was learning the harsh reality of who cares and who doesn’t. It’s heartbreaking to realize people who you thought were your friends really only care about themselves at the end of the day. It’s bittersweet cutting them out of your life though because part of you is proud of sticking up for yourself, but its also quite lonely. The people who hurt you just continue their life as if nothing happened and because of their guilt they twist the story. You are left with all the pain but you also learn a valuable lesson. We learn to see the ones that are authentic around us and to be able to appreciate them. I like to think that’s its not the amount of mistakes that we make in life that define who we are but how we go about fixing and learning from them that does. Those who pretend that what they did wasn’t wrong, are limiting their own growth.

Hi Jeff, I am finishing up my last semester of law school and I urge you to find a lawyer and at least consider your options. In my opinion, this could be a slam dunk especially because you have the footage of him repeatedly asking you to do his stunt, you have (hopefully) the records of his promise (better if its written) to pay your hospital bills, a large number of witnesses during the incident, that he knew he did not have the training necessary to operate that machinery, and was aware of the extreme danger he was putting you in for the sake of a video. Not to mention the emotional distress and life-threatening physical damages you experienced, and that you were prevented from getting a loan to purchase a house due to his refusal to continue paying for your hospital bills. And the footage of the documentary where he shifts the blame to you doesn’t hurt your case either. At the very least its gross negligence in a civil case and assault & battery in a criminal case. I could understand choosing civil vs criminal if you want to avoid David’s possible deportation or jail time. But you also have the option of pursuing both cases. Because of the high publicity surrounding the incident, a favorable judge (if your lawyer is able to forum shop) would likely want to make an example in order to deter other high profile content creators from escaping accountability for their reckless decisions. On the other side, David might use your filmed consent to going on the crane but you likely have overwhelming evidence to counter his claims. David will probably have a team of lawyers but I wouldn’t give up the fight especially if CA statute of limitations may prevent you from taking action against him later. For legal reasons, this is not legal advice but simply giving out information 😊

You look at the pattern in full and how those behaviors are motivated. Something like tears in response to a gift he gave on a video to make him look good on the internet doesn’t negate his pattern harmful behaviors toward others (that he visibly enjoys). Of course it’s impossible to know for sure without him being my client, but professionals can still identify patterns of behavior that are very cluster B. Certain behavioral traits that typically align with NPD can look like neurodivergence (especially ASD) when you have shallow knowledge of DSM diagnoses, but there are major indications that this is likely not what he has. He is actually very socially aware, which is what makes him so charming, charismatic and manipulative. It’s more likely that he may have NPD with traits of OCD or OCPD (explaining aspects of his rigidity) than ASD. But again, this is all just educated speculating that I would never do if I was licensed because he is not my client. Still, trust me when I say he has many obvious patterns of behavior that are better explained by cluster B disorders than ASD. He has traits that would directly contradict ASD (like his obvious social awareness unless it’s remorse for an action he’s responsible for in regards to harming others).

If anything people would realize he is doing the right thing by being there for you as a friend and people might have even more empathy for the situation. thats not the same bc an uber drive has to be hired by a company who does legal background checks, and makes sure the people they hire have a drivers license w a good driving history to insure your safety. The equivalent is if you decide to take your chances and go into an underground cab drivers car who isn't a legal cab driver/uber/lyft but says they can give you a ride for cheap....you wouldn't know if the person even has a license, criminal record, etc and you'd be putting your life at risk.

At the time that was his friend, so yeah he’s going to trust that he wouldn’t do anything to put his life at risk. Like my best friend would NEVER, she would’ve yelled at me to get the f off and go sit my ass down. Then for David go on a Documentary and voice that Jeff’s the idiot for getting on, after he was the one who basically made him and then spun him at a very fast speed and then his ass just stood there like OMG OMG, OMG… Like sir you should not be operating machinery if you don’t know what you’re doing for one and for 2. If you don’t throw your camera down and go make sure your friend is okay! This was someone he called his best friend and someone who he believed had his back.
