Sometimes the dps are very eepy, and you pick them off the floor, but they are just too tired and end up back there again. You have to wait a moment bub, gotta do mechanics and heal the not dead members of the party for a moment.

Reasons it takes me so long to rez people: - Swiftcast is on cooldown - Glare is not on cooldown - You have 1-2 stacks of weakness already and you can't assist rez - Swiftcast is on cooldown - I need to keep myself alive - You aren't high enough priority [and its day 1 Jeuno] - There are only 2 non-healer classes in the game that can assist rez and there's a 90 percent chance you aren't one of them - You died far enough away to be in another Country and the rest of us are over here not dying - Take your backstep skill of your action bar - I swiftcasted Holy because it does more damage than you - Swiftcast is on cooldown - I rescued you and you still lunged back at the enemy and died - I'm silenced / stunned / disoriented / mind-controlled / etc.etc. - If I rez you now, you will just accept it immediately and die in an unavoidable mechanic for the 18th time - Swiftcast is on cooldown - I'm a freaking white mage and you all still managed to suck my mana dry - Thin Air is on cooldown - Swiftcast is on cooldown - If you are really asking me this question then I think you need to play healer a bit and figure it out - It's snowing on Mt. Fuji - My Swiftcast is on cooldown.

The problem is I've been running into a lot of healers lately that only raise with swiftcast, or flat out don't rez at all. I usually heal, but when I'm at a non-exaggeration of 10+ in an instance, co-healer at 0 as they're damage spamming and maybe, just maybe, tossing out medica II... I can see where dps are coming from. Healer quality has honestly gone sour lately as few want to do it now that sustained damage and difficulty have begun to show up, and a few that do queue seem to be doing the old WoW "queue tank/heal to skip wait times" routine.

Proceeded to stay down for about half the fight Like I saw other dps (a caster of sorts) getting raised as well as a couple sprouts (one being the other healer) but my time was basically laying on the floor, giving people thumbs up, and watching my corpse fall when the platform I'm laying on was destroyed lmao I was literally down so long I got nervous and went into the chat like "hey I promise I'm not staying down to troll I literally havnt gotten a raise yet". This is why every player should try playing a healer so they understand all the work we're actually doing. We only play DPS Healers when the battle goes smoothly. Once things start to fall apart, we're working harder than everyone else. Another thing, sometimes if a lot of people go down, our MP gets low and we need to wait for it to fill up before we can raise again. They ain't cheap to just pop out one after another. It's so funny, because everything you said in this video seems so obvious; and yet, unless someone has played a healer, they'll never understand. I really liked this video! I've subbed! Thank you!

I used to ask this same question until I finally unlocked Astrologian and started my healer journey, I feel bad for those who are dead but the truth is that if I or the tank dies we are going to wipe 😅. Those who ask this have never had a healer job because once you run aurum vale a couple times with people who dont eat the fruit and crystal tower with people dying to simple mechanics, suddenly that one pictomancer who keeps kissing the floor will have to wait till the end of the battle to have a rezz be sent their way 🤣. As an AST tho, I have to say that having lightspeed makes me not rethink so much if I want to rezz a DPS or not, and even if I have several attacks that do damage, I'll never do as much damage as a DPS while standing on a healer job. As a rule of thumb I have for myself: If I have time to DPS, I have time to rezz a DPS, if I dont have time to DPS, I dont have time to rezz a DPS.

As a person who stared off as a ranged dps and then became a healer in heavensward and honestly I think that golden divine scroll of raise order just manifests in you after some time like you have become one with the gods of reviving and they bestow apon you the secrets of raising. Also there are those moments where some one just dies too much and you just feel either bad for that person or a bit of contempt and just throw you hands in the air and say "you know what just lie there for a second catch some Z's and let me get my my back". I know this is calling out my fc leader but there is a dungeon where a boss uses it's head as a hammer of sorts and it pushes you and you can fall off the map and I counted 14 times that my fc leader fell and they don't want to do dungeons without me since I'm the trusted and only healer of the fc at the time. It's funny you bring up this topic today, lol. I actually did something stupid in Algaia today and fell off during Rhlagar trying to gap close on SGE during the knock back. My WHM healing partner just kept Glaring and Glaring and Glaring. I think they went on for like 8 or 10 GCDs before our RDM picked me up (the RDM got my commend for that at the end). It is a little aggravating to see them tunneling DPS but that's the nature of the beast at times too, so ah well. As for playing Res chicken, as the WHM in the WHM / SCH comp of my savage group, I typically prioritize Raises first because, THIN AIR is a nice thing and it's so much easier for WHM to conserve their MP versus SCH, lol - random throw back to your Thin Air discussion from before. I do enjoy all the different outfits and accessories you do have for your avatar as a random segway, lol.
@bPlusOne2 ай бұрын
Possibly the WHM was intentionally waiting for the RDM to raise you - especially if their Swiftcast was down. It's far easier and efficient (for the entire party, no less) for the RDM to use a single dualcast to get you back up, than it is for the WHM to spend 8 seconds casting a rez. Sometimes the rez priority is on the RDM, but I get it, in most situations there won't be any voice chat to coordinate stuff like this, so people always assume the worst. 😥

There are two things that everyone in XIV needs to know about Raises but the game never teaches in a meaningful way. 1. You do NOT have to accept a Raise immediately. In fact, you get 60 whole seconds to accept before the buff expires and Raise needs to be cast again. This means you can take a few seconds to see what it going on, determine if it's safe to get up, or are you raising right into more danger and putting pressure on healers to divert all their attention into healing you back to full so you don't instantly die again. 2. After getting up from a Raise, a player gains a buff called Transcendent. This gives 5 seconds of invulnerability, but expires as soon as the player performs any abilities or auto attacks. (VERY IMPORTANT: This buff is NOT granted to players revived by a Healer Limit Break). So, when you accept the Raise, instead of going right back into unga bunga, give your healers a chance to heal you up, especially if you chose to accept the Raise as raidwide damage is coming out. Healers can't actually heal you until the animation finishes playing out, and during that time they probably shift their attention to the other two/six people in the party, since they matter just as much as you do. So, unless you're a tank that needs to get aggro right now, let that 5s of LITERAL INVINCIBILITY do its thing. To address the glaring concern with both of my points, yes I am suggesting that DPS take a moment to chill out and not immediately go smashing buttons as soon as they are physically allowed to, which is borderline sacrilege. I get it. But counterpoint, what is the bigger DPS loss? Taking a few more seconds to be able to safely get up, or immediately dying again before getting anything meaningful out, then having to repeat the process of waiting for another Raise? And don't get me started on the new shiny Brink of Death debuff you earned.
@bargainbincatgirl66982 ай бұрын
I won't rez ASAP because a lot of times the other healer beat me to it, losing my swiftcast, or I'm afraid that you or me is going to be hit by a mechanic or enemy as soon as i rez you. And the rez order usually is co-healer / tank... i usually not good enough to survive after a tank dies on me, even if I manage to pull the rez, so I don't really know what other priority exists after that.
@ginjabr3ad330Ай бұрын
Or, as I recently experienced, my black mages both decided to plop their key lines down within a millimeter of the boss arena's entrance, which placed them out of range of literally everyone else in the boss battle. So that means prioritizing running across half the arena just so I can be barely in range of any spell that might reach them.

@Decus86Ай бұрын
No, you get healers/rez dps or tanks depending on the situation. For the other dps you get the actually highest damaging ones, not roles. I've seen so many times healers raising some sam over and over and ignoring the literal top dps mch of the entire raid (who died, cuz probs the sam killed them xD). If you're not using act, then use aggro numbers in the party list. if a caster or phys ranged is 2 or 3 and melee is 6, then those ranged really just are more valuable.

There was one time when fighting Hegemone back when Abyssos first came out when I was playing White Mage and the other healer kept dying, as well as several of the DPS. The DPS started yelling at me in chat to rez them and not cast Glare III. However... I was saving my Swiftcasts and my Thin Airs for when the other Healer inevitably died again so I wasn't having to solo heal all the time and occasionally trying to rez DPS when I had both a Swiftcast and Thin Air together (however most of the time I was having to rez that other healer since they would not stop dying every two seconds so the DPS usually stayed dead). That and it wasn't worth rezzing them because they would just die again so my MP was better spent DPS-ing myself and keeping the tanks alive. Whenever I died (usually because I was having to keep up with way too many things at once during heavy mechanic phases) the entire party would immediately crumble. However one time the other healer actually managed to stay alive long enough to heal some people while I was dead and they got all the praise. xD

These are the most common reason everyday eorzean has listed but there is a even more detailed priority list of who to raise first. This is a priority list I have been taught by other experienced players who do both casual and high end content. 1. Healer partner (depending on mechanics. I will typically raise my healer partner first over everyone else unless I know that a tank buster mech is coming up and our tank is down. Then the tank get the first raise. Even if my healer partner was raised and they died again, I'll still raise them over other dps, especially if the party is struggling with executing mechanics successfully and is taking a lot of damage on top of getting a lot of raid wide damage, I will prioritize my healer partner. If the party is doing very well with mechanics, I may raise a rez mage before raising my healer partner a second time just to get more bodies up.) 2. Tanks. (Unless a tank buster mech is coming up, they will be prioritized) In parties where there is 2 tanks, Warrior first, Paladin next, gunbreaker and then dark knight. 3. Rez mages. Summoner or Redmage. If there are both a redmage and a summoner, I will raise the one that is the least furthest down the party list. 3. Blackmage or Pictomancer. Basically casters will get the rez first after the rez mages. 4. Next are the melee dps with the typical highest dealing damage melee being prioritized. Viper 5. Monk 6. Reaper 7. Dragoon 8. Ninja 9. Samurai 10. Then physical ranged. Dancer 11. Bard 12. Machinist I have been taught this priority list because casters tend to deal a lot of heavy damage, I've even seen them doing more damage than melee (if you look at your party list, you'll notice some numbers on your party members. Red A for tank, 2 for either second tank or dps, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. These numbers indicate who is next in line to get aggro of the boss or add that they are attacking. If the tank dies, the person next in line for aggro gets the aggro. This doesn't always mean they're doing the most damage but it can indicate that. Healers can easily get 2 on the priority because their heals generate aggro like their damage skills. The second tank should be number 2.) Of course, if I see who is dealing more damage then other dps, I will prioritize them. Example, the viper is doing more damage than the blackmage, the viper will get raised first. I will raise the top dps in the party first (after rez mage or if there are no rez mages) and then go down the priority list of casters first, Melee dps, then Phys ranged.

The reasons I haven't rezzed you: 1: Swift cast is on cooldown(not going to catch me casting a revive without swiftcast, there's always something better to do in that time) 2: a live party member is in danger of death(a living member will always have the priority) 3: you've shown a habit of diving straight back into attacking ignoring the invuln time that I can use to heal you after rez(you get 4 seconds or so of invulnerability after resurrection unless you use a skill or autoattack, give your healers at least this long to toss a heal your direction before going back to attacking) 4: you've died... a lot(in this case(and #3), I'll probably not waste the MP, wait for another rezzer) 5: my MP is low(doesn't happen often these days, but sometimes it's just to low to risk spending it on a rez) 6: someone more important is dead(or close to it(lets face it, DPS aren't critical, that other healer or tank on the other hand, those are critical assets, DPS can wait))

As healer, my job is to keep party alive and if someone dies, on first chance, even risky one, regardless if i have swiftcast or not, i *WILL* raise *ANY* downed player. So when it comes to the question, why healers dont raise? Its simple. Prioritizing DPS instead of being utility to the party just makes you a bad healer. End of story.

I've done the bulk of the content via NPC-instances due to playing Summoner for the longest amount of time, and I've simply come to appreciate Healers because of that. Every time I die, I need to redo the boss battle. So whenever I die on a player-instance trial/dungeon, I wait until I can hop back on, simple as. And as Summoner, sometimes I need to help a Healer out by using my swiftcast resurrect. I've begun to learn tank as a Warrior now, to see what are the pros and cons of the role. Oh, and to achieve a glam goal, of course.

I don't mind when healers don't raise, they have anywhere from 1 to 7 players to keep alive. No when both healers are down and the two summoners are using their swift cast to DPS and have full MP that's when I get salty. I don't care if its a slight dps lost that in comming raid wide that will drop your DPS to 0 when you are dead. I also get salty when the healers keep raising the summoners knowing that won't raise! This also goes to Red Mages but they are rare to no raise.

Reason I, as healer main, am not reviving you, in this order: #1: Dealing with a nasty debuff on me, i.e. unable to perform actions #2: Lost line of sight/too far away (mostly due to a mech that separates the party) #3: MP low (usually the case after reviving multiple teammates, or if I just died and got revived, then revived one teammate) #4: Swiftcast is down #5: Enemy is very close to death #6: Too much incoming damage, or need to move for mechs; my first job is keeping myself and teammates alive, healing/saving is a higher priority than reviving #7: Not SMN or RDM, if you're a dps #8: You die too much (i.e. third death and already have 50% weakness) and are therefore not a priority #9: Waiting for LB3, if LB bar is close to filling up and many are dead #10: (Prog only) pull is hopeless and I'm only trying to see the next mechanic before I die, too

I once died on a lvl 100 trial and was never ressed. It was funny to see several swift casts on the healer thinking “oh it’s for me!” and then it disappears without res. And funniest part I got 3 commendations after xD Just for laying down third of the fight

I (sch/whm) frequently co-heal with FC member (sge) that flat out refuses to Rez dps. They will Rez tanks or other healer, but are really elitist and tbh kinda rude when dps need Rez. So I know I’m on Rez duty when we are partnered, and I also am very aware of rezzing dps when I smn or play rdm. Their attitude has really changed the way I play
@armsman5322Ай бұрын
FYI - As a DPS main myself (Monk) - If you get that raise, you should be looking at the situation and if you know a mechanic is going to go off at about the time you would stand back up on the floor; you should WAIT to click okay, so you don't pop up and go straight back down again. Don't trust the few seconds 'grace period you get IF you don't move. Sometimes that server cheats OR you accidently move a bit and BOOM you're hit again. And that Healer priority list has other downed Healers and Tanks before you. The best thing you can do as a DPS is stay out of sh!t and learn/figure out how and when to use you own limited self healing and damage mitigation abilities to full effect, and don't expect the Healer to always save your ass. If it's between saving you and the Tank or you and another healer who's HP bar is near death, yeah, they come BEFORE DPS. We're expected to keep ourselves alive. 😁
@SoridanАй бұрын
It's not movement that stops the roughly 5 seconds of immunity, you can run around without worry. Just don't cast anything. And bear in mind that the immunity is for MOST damage, there are mechanics that go through it. Not a bad idea to just wait a few seconds for the mechanics to go away before getting up.

Top *Good* Reasons DPS might not get a raise: 1. My Swiftcast is down and I'd rather spend time healing than hardcasting 2. I'm Raising someone higher on priority (IE Co-healer, Tank, or a Raise-capable DPS like RDM or SMN) 3. I'm Focusing on keeping everyone else alive during a stressful situation 4. I can't get to you right now. (perhaps other side of a big arena, and traversing there might get me killed as well) Top *BAD* reasons DPS might not get a raise (and why they're bad): 1. I don't want to waste time raising someone who's died 5x in the last 2 minutes (This might fly in a dungeon fight, but I'd rather assume someone is new and bad at the fight than stupid. I raise everyone idc who you are) 2. My Mana is too low (Bad MP management as a Healer is a poor excuse, unless you just got raised yourself, your MP is your own problem) 3. I'm a Glare mage (Play dps stop healing.. please) 4. Didn't see you. (Bad party awareness, Healer should always watch the party list) Just as a reminder though, there is another golden rule healers tend to leave by. Main healer (which is usually a WHM or AST) will handle the top half of the party list, and the off-healer (usually a SCH or SGE) will handle the bottom half. The exceptions are usually people on comms, RDM/SMN, double Regen/shield healers, or baby healers who haven't learned it yet. If you're a WHM, and there's someone dead on the top half of your party list and the other healer isn't getting them, assume they are following that rule and you are failing your team lol. I'll be really honest though some of the reasons the video gave are pretty crappy. If you aren't paying attention to people dying or playing chicken with your co-healer, then you really aren't doing your job as a healer. I always assume the other healer isn't gonna do it until I see them cast swift-cast, unless I'm on comms with the co-healer coordinating who to heal, then raising is something I'll always do on my safe opportunity.

If I ever get that question, I don't answer it. Either it's bait or the person asking is ignorant. I'll certainly help them learn mechs and how not to die but if they're asking for advice, but they should be asking why they are lying on the floor to begin with. Now, if on the other hand I'm not playing healer and I notice my group's healer isn't doing enough to keep expected damage from killing us, it's a whole nother story.

Here's a bit of a fun fact: In the real world, Medics put their own life above yours. Even with first aid, it's the very first thing to consider when approaching a scene: Danger (it's the D in the DR ABC of first aid - or DR C AcBCDEF for more advanced first aid). Basically don't become a casualty 'cause if you do then you need someone else to come save your tail. So in MMO's the healers are actually following correct Medic/first aid procedure. Games imitating life indeed :)

Ill admit i die alot and its typicaly my fault for not getting out of crap. Thats totaly on me. Before healers start focousing on a dps class that needs rezzed they need to focous on the group just common since. I just hope that i do get back on my feet asap to try and help the group but i wont stress about not getting rezzed when the healers are trying to keep the group alive over rezzing.
