"cure the target's target". was exactly the info I needed. Do that instead, and I don't have to worry about heal targeting unless I'm dealing with a major situation with another party member. easy adjustment, and I can still go white mage if I want. Probably gonna stick with sage though. good to know I have options to make my adjustment from magic dps to ranged dps to tank to healer though.

Sage main here that came over from full time tanking. It’s very intimidating, especially at first and more especially in unfamiliar content. Sometimes you’ve *got* to go with pure healing in those wall to wall pulls, especially when your tank is a DRK. In 8-man content I prioritize AoE mitigators and heals over single-target heals even though the single targets are stronger. Keep your heal-over-time ability and your all-party shield ability on cooldown, and if you’re a Sage keep in mind that Taurochole recycles fast and is a good party-wide mitigator that synergizes with a lot of tank buffs, and Eukrasian Dosis on the boss keeps Kardia ticking while you’re occupied elsewhere. I usually put Kardia on the squishiest tank (DRK) but not always-I’ve been known to put it on melee DPS if the player is having trouble. The best experienced players will pop a Dorito over their head so you can follow them in mechanic-heavy instances. I healed the last Endwalker trial for the first time and after I mistimed mechanics and wiped the party twice (a single healer can’t keep the party up in that fight) one did and *bam* I stayed up for the whole fight.

Scholar! I started as a Summoner since I was worried about transferring my healer skills from WoW but slowly I remembered why I loved it when I ended up making my Holy Priest and gravitated towards Scholar since it was already leveled (and now it's the main way Summoner gets leveled up given what they've done to my Pet class...there's literally like no point to Carbie being there anymore it just sits there....doing nothing for the majority of battle at low levels but that's a rant for my fc server if they haven't gotten tired of it lol) Although I've played and max leveled all the classes. Healer definitely goes Scholar, White Mage, Astrologian, Sage in terms of enjoyment and ease for me. I used to have to play Scholar with my hotbars covered due to my cat sitting in front of the monitor and so I've gotten really good at playing while distracted lol @@EverydayEorzean

I've not healed much on healers other than WHM. But don't fall into the trap of using Cure I. In very rare cases it saved me. But once you get cure II and other heals. Unbind cure I. Cure III is a situational spell imo. It works when you need to remotely heal a group of people that are clustered together. In my experience you won't find much of a use for it outside of PF. It might also be tempting to rescue people that are slow to move out of an AoE. I haven't played the game in a while. But rescue has mixed feelings last I recall. It can be done well but it can also be done poorly. When you get to learn the classes a bit better you learn which classes have more mobility than others. And as a BLM main. If you notice your BLM is staying in their leylines inside of an AoE. They're either going to greed and possibly tank with manaward. Or just get hit. If it's the former, they generally know what they're doing and can zip to people using Aetherial Manipulation. If it's the latter. Might be useful dropping a regen or a rescue on them.

@TennoFox8974 ай бұрын
Aye, quite a number of years. Though my time healing there was spent as a Druid, having constant HoTs up on everyone with the occasional emergency big heal just in case. But I swear, a tank could start complaining if their HP started getting down to seventy-five percent! And don't get me started on Rogues that would sneak ahead to "accidentally" pull mobs.
@SailorMusicCat4 ай бұрын

it's very easy. step 1 - make a lalafell character. step 2 - emote at people. step 3 - watch your friends list fill up fast. that' sall i did and i have to keep constantly pruning my friends list. you literally don't even have to say a word first. also, emote and say hi when joining a group or dungeon.

One thing I've learned while healing (currently lv 59 AST): if you and your tank are comfortable doing wall to wall pulls applying Regens to the Tank (and everyone else if those skills are available to you) helps a lot with MP management and will help you get into the swing of doing damage spells in higher level dungeons.

While my AST is almost lvl 70, I still am suffering from healing anxiety and I suffer from the same fate of "I need to keep everyone at full hp" but this video and another one really helped me!! The phrase I use is "Will you die on the next hit?" if the answer is Yes, I heal them or smack regen on them. If no, I keep dealing dmg or throwing cards until the answer becomes yes.

i remember being nervous about being healer till me and 2 DPSs ran prae without a tank because of a glitch, i ran prae 1000 times before so i knew all the mechanics at that point, was really fun juggling heals and damage when agro is constantly shifting on squishies, being able to pull that off without any wipes felt good and gave me a lot more confidence

I was so scared of healing after trying WHM and being terrible at it. AST immediately clicked with me and it’s one of my favorite classes now. I still suck at WHM - I just find the cast times so slow, I keep getting interrupted, and the abilities cost so much MP. I’m trying my best to learn and get better at the class.
