@MR-zq5gt5 жыл бұрын
As a future nurse, I hope I get to work with you one day! It’s true there tends to be a lot of ‘Us vs them’ mentality on the floor which is really detrimental to patient care- both the doctor and the nurse have their set of expertise and skills and so both do need to respect each other and work as a team!

It's funny because I think the whole underappreciation of nurses is slowly becoming a thing of the past. Most of the newer med students and new doctors don't really resemble the old stereotype of what a doctor used to be anymore, and it's for the better. There's not so much friction/dislike between the two professions anymore and it only serves to create a better working environment.

Hahaha that was great, especially the nurses chiming in about what they actually do for us when we are sick. Austin Harvey Nursing Student here- who is also a CNA. I sincerely hope you do not go into/graduate med school with that attitude towards nurses. A lack of trust/respect for the registered nurse is ultimately dangerous to the patient. Healthcare needs to be a TEAM. As nurse’s aides, we do most of the “dirty work” but “all the work”? Definitely not even close. The nurse is responsible for EVERYTHING. Assessing (the doctors prescriptions and orders depend on the nurse’s assessment), giving meds/making sure the meds are right for the patient, contacting doctors (who aren’t always the nicest), PLUS overseeing that the aides/LPNs under them are providing competent care, as the RN is ultimately responsible. they deserve the credit they get. Nursing school is the hardest thing I’ve ever done.
