I'd like to say that yes it can be argued that Ted Bundy "is hot" as the whole thing with his case and appeal is that he was charismatic and physically attractive to many. The idea of saying that he's "not hot" is more so saying that, though someone can be attractive, the fact that they murdered numerous people should be enough to remove charm outside of their looks. So by saying he's "not hot" I'm not suggesting that his body is physically ugly, more so the fact that the acts he committed were heinous.

There's a reason so many countries completely banned the death penalty and frown upon nations such as the US for holding onto it. I (having a forensic background mind you) also agree he probably could have been an interesting subject for criminology and could've possibly lead police/FBI to even more bodies - as he claimed he can (to expand his time in death row). I don't see death as necessarily the best option, even for a monster such as Ted. However, I can absolutely see why a VICTIM of his, wishes for nothing more than a gruesome death for Bundy. And it's certainly nobody's business to call her out for it. If one person alone had the moral right to wish death upon Bundy, it was his surviving victim.

@@FeuerblutRM Dunno, if someone is already a fan of Bundy, I wouldn't imagine they have that much respect for life. Imagine being a fan of a serial killer and being against the death penalty. I mean they might be for this specific case, but only because they are fans of Bundy, not because they respect life. So while in another context that might be a possibility, I doubt it here. Your reasoning makes sense, and I am personally against death penalty, but I highly doubt that is the reason for the fans. Because being against death, while praising a serial killer would be a contradiction. But who knows, only they know what their reasoning is.

I'm pretty sure I've heard about cases in which victims (or their families) pled against it and the court and public prosecutor followed their wish.

If I remember correctly, he was actually convicted for the sorority house murders. He was put on death parole and when they asked if he wanted to confess to other murders (I believe he wanted to be known for committing these vile acts and postpone his death sentence), he ended up doing so. I live in Seattle where many of Bundy's victims lived and were killed, and he's still a very clear memory in a lot of people's minds. For example, my seventh grade English teacher allegedly dated him when she was in college. And for our final assignment in her class we were allowed to write an essay on anything of our choice. I was doing mine on murders in Seattle and had mentioned something about Ted Bundy. She literally sat us all down and insisted on telling us all of his murders and said, and I quote "if you have any plan or intention of idolizing or romanticizing his murders, you should get out of my god damn class."

I hate people who have "empathy" for killers. Now, do I believe that it's important to understand the motives behind people and their acts? Well of course, understanding them can help point out the issues which may have led to their actions. Issues which we as a collective may have a chance of fixing in order to create a more saner world. It's also pretty dumb to believe that killers just simply kill, and that there's nothing more to it. However, I still have zero real empathy for them. A motive isn't an excuse. A person can have a tragic backstory, but that doesn't excuse them giving any surviving, victims or the families of dead victims their own personal trauma. The motives of a murderer are only there to be read through and understood. Not to be used to defend them.

I think it is important to stress the unhealthy nature of these fandoms and call out how romanticizing unhealthy dysfunctional behavior can be extremely dangerous not only for those who are in the fandom, but feed in to the idea, especially to younger people that could see it, that this violent behavior is okay and is even romantic, when it very much is not. But the glaring thing about this video, not trying to be mean, but I think you could do more to explain why this is unhealthy behavior, and be more sympathetic to the people who are a part of these fandoms. Because this is the reality they are experiencing, regardless of what truly is right and wrong, and making fun of cringey posts these people have made in the past, could not only make them angry and double down on their infatuation with this fandom, but be more resistant to listening to people who are trying to explain to them how this is unhealthy and could make them extremely vulnerable to being actually attacked, or be drawn toward violent abusive relationships. I want to say, it's totally fine to have edgy fantasies, it's totally fine to have kinks and to be in to more intense stuff like BDSM, oreven romanticize fictional serial killers in books if they are written a certain way, (like the show DEXTER) and the like. People can like these things and be perfectly healthy stable individuals with jobs and lives. But in communities like BDSM it's NOT like 50 shades of grey (which is really 50 shades of physical and emotional abuse) in those real BDSM relationships it is a consenting, caring relationship between 2 consenting adults that both very much want the sadist and masochist dynamic during sex, but the difference is, afterwards there is after care, there is affection and consideration for the others feelings, they discuss clear boundaries beforehand and have a safe word that is respected no questions asked established beforehand. And I see that in a lot of these fandoms, they see these killers as a character, not as the calloused dangerous monsters they truly are. They see them In their fantasies as sympathetic bad boys with a dark side, but with them they are sweet and kind and loving, and that idea is appealing to many people. I think we need to respect where these people are and not judge them, but be kind and sympathetic in explaining that they are not dumb or stupid or should be shamed for these urges and fantasies, but stress heavily that when they fantacise about real murders who have actually lived and harmed real human beings in real life with families and loved ones, that is the difference. That is harmful to the victims survivors that have had their families forever shattered by this man and what he stole from them. This man would not be like you are imagining him, if you met him in real life. He would see you as a pawn or prey because he mentally does not have the capacity for empathy, he only knows how to act to get people to do what he wants. And if you sought out this individual in real life you would not only be in danger, but they could ruin or end your real life. You are worth more than that. You deserve someone who has a capacity for love and empathy. And even though it seems like you're all alone and that will never happen right now, there will come a day when you understand and are all the better off for it. You see what I'm saying? These are people with their own issues that need to be treated with dignity and not be made into a joke, because these are troubling tendencies that could put them in real harms way, and the way to get through to them is to make them feel heard, make them feel like they matter, and then to finally try to get them to understand the gravity of what they are asking for, and make sure that they know that people care about them and that they deserve real love.
