This is how europeans thought about wolves, they thought they were werewolves, and they heard stories of little red riding hood, the 3 little pigs, peter and the wolf, and also it was a lose lose situation for the settelers and the wolves. The settelers shot the wolves's prey, so the wolves went after the setteler's livestock.

Bloods not as hard as you think, If you know how Liquid moves that's a major help, coloring blood is easy too as its just a deep red with highlights showing light.

I thought it was pretty cool from the start with just the wolf, but nothing rally new or original. You can find drawings of wolves all over, even cool bloody ones. Then the blood rabbits came in and I swallowed my words. Those really made the whole painting for me. It looks amazing, keep up the good work. :3

I'm seeing a couple of people complaining about the amount of gore here and rather than address everyone of them I'm gonna post one big thing bitching about it. Let's start with the amount of gore present. First off I'm sure everyone has heard of artistic interpretation but if you haven't it's generally the process by which an artist changes, exaggerates or omits details to create a more striking image. It's not gonna be everyone's cup of tea, but if you try to appeal to everyone no one will feel strongly about your work. Next it's a wolf that has killed and presumably eaten something there's gonna be blood and tissue. I understand a fair number of people have never seen anything die in a violent manner but most things contain a lot more blood than you'd expect them to. I get that the prey item is implied to be a rabbit so we can't consider the gore that results from the predator literally putting it's head inside the preys body cavity to get at the organs, regardless this seems to be an appropriate around of blood for a full grown rabbit (especially a jack rabbit). As for the actual gore spread if we assume a neck wound was cause of death and the artery was nicked arterial spray more than accounts for what we see. I'd also like to add that what a person sees in say a zoo dosent mean shit. Chunks of meat that have been transported from wherever, possibly frozen and let to sit have generally had enough time to bleed most of that blood out. It's generally standard practice to let a carcass drain anyway, fresh killed animals have a fuckton more blood than drained chucks of meat. I also noticed a few comments about this somehow being a negative portrayal of wolves? They're predators, by their very nature they kill things. They would die if they didn't. A wolf isn't some noble thing, it's an animal, it behaves like an animal. Just like every other predator they'll kill babies, they'll eat carrion and they'll kill things simply because they could. Don't get me wrong, none of these are necessarily bad things. I'm pretty fond of wolves but I'm not going to humanize them to the point where I forget they're wild animals. They're strong as fuck and pretty smart and that's great but what I respect most about them is that they'll do anything they can to survive. That and they've managed to convince a whole group of people that they're some kind of tragic, mystic beings. I personally feel that any portrayal that captures that pragmatic nature, that sheer animal violence and power is great. The only negative portrayals are those that make them out to be big, poofy bleeding hearts. Wolves are wild animals they aren't anything more or less.
